Oh I'm still down to go. They are definitely not out of aftershock territory quite yet though.

Did you ever make it to Nepal? Doing something like the Base Camp trek is on my bucket list.

Any of you guys that mentioned hiking the AT this year get out there?

I did a day hike on the AT up in New England last week and it got me itching to go on a longer walk/adventure this summer. I'm out west now and looking at some different options for the Aug-Sep time frame if I end up postponing my trip to SEA until the winter/dry season.

These are the top options right now, all between 1-4 wk hikes:

1. John Muir Trail, California, 211 miles, Yosemite NP to Mt Whitney, some of prettiest country in America
2. Tahoe Rim Trail, California, Nevada, 165 miles, circles the beautiful blue Lake Tahoe
3. Collegiate Loop, Colorado, 160 miles, follows the Continental Divide Trail and Colorado Trail around 11 of Colorado's 14ers.
4. Lowest 2 Highest, California, 135 miles, from the lowest point (Death Valley) to the highest point (Mt Whitney) in the Cont US

A few other shorter options, around 3-4 days each:

1. Four Pass Loop, Colorado, 27 miles
2. Havasupai Falls, Arizona, 10 miles to camp, 1-3 miles to different falls, plus hike out
3. Zion NP West Rim Trail, Utah, 16 miles

Ignoring permits, weather, and other logistics I think my preference would be John Muir Trail, Havasupai Falls, or Zion West Rim Trail in that order.

Any of you guys have experience or recommendations on any of the above? Or any other spots in Western US or even Canada that would be great for a few days or few weeks.
