Notice how I said "due to a certain cirumstance"? I know what that circumstance is. I also didn't mention how I had a heads up from a certain friend involved in the incident. I met the cops on the steps to my apartment as they rolled up with lights flashing. I knew exactly what I was expecting.

I had nothing to hide. So I let the good cop in, because I could tell from the way he looked at me and talked to me that he believe this was all bullshit. The other one didnt.

I actually spoke more with the good cop about our favorite snowboarding spots, due to my boards hanging on my wall, than about the incident.

So no, I don't believe I fell for any routine.

keep in mind, I know I could have easily refused both officers and told them to get a warrant. It wasn't worth the trouble. I was more entertained by tooling the asshole cop.

I don't understand the advantage of a warentless submission. Their entire jobs are to find something. If they want to, they will. I just do not see how you could be doing anything other than being careless, for the sake of good citizenship, which just isn't that important in the grand scheme of me keeping my freedoms, also my rights. A warented search is a right.

A warranted search is a right, without a doubt. I chose to allow an unwarranted search because I had absolutely nothing to hide and the whole situation was ridiculous. I much preferred offering an unwarranted search to a guy that I perceived as being a good guy, as opposed to to demanding a warranted search.

I had nothing to lose in allowing the search, and possible prolonged hassle in refusing it.

I'm not saying you should allow cops to search your place without a warrant, had both cops been asses I would have told them to come back with a warrant, even knowing that I had nothing to hide. Because at that point, trolling them would have been worth my time. This coming from the kid who used to drop bags of crushed oregono in front of school cops just to make the day interesting, trolling cops is nothing new to me

Sure, the cop I allowed in could have suddenly changed faces and become an asshole. At that point I could have easily said "You have seen what I have allowed you to see, leave my property now and come back with a warrant if you would like to investigate further"

it didn't come to that. it came to a discussion about snowboarding
