The protest organizers had warned on Facebook that male protesters and male journalists “would not be tolerated” at the demonstration.

The protesters tried to impose their itinerary to the police. At a certain point police officers on bicycles faced off with a bunch of protesting cyclists.

Around 10 p.m. some protesters breached the police cordon and a melee ensued forcing police to use pepper spray.

Montreal police then ordered the protesters to disperse. Tear gas and sound bombs were used to break up the crowd.

One woman was arrested for assaulting a police officer, and another woman was arrested for failing to follow a policeman’s order under the P-6 regulations.

Ludicrous. Now we have occupation of public space subjected, to gender segregation. This is major ideological delirium.

Hopefully this becomes huge and the protests clash with Canadien fans rioting in the street during the NHL playoffs (cars usually burn after either wins or losses). Drunken hockey fans and delusional feminist protestors seems like a perfect mix for outside observer lulz!!

People just love to fabricate drama. Women marching in the streets for what? It's 2015 and you live in the Anglosphere. There's nothing worth marching about as far as civil rights are concerned. Get back to your instagram, pumpkin spice coffee, and grad-school homework.

There was a video going around on facebook this morning where this dude interviewed a bunch of these protestors. A lot of them could not define "austerity". They couldn't name any of the people they were protesting including the Premier of Quebec. And some of them couldn't even spell the word "study".

This is the direction that Montreal is heading in. You have an entire generation of young socialist idiots who are OUTRAGED at every turn who are looking for any excuse to tear shit up. When people are so bored with life and they live without purpose, they can be lead to do anything. I can only hope the cops crack more skulls in the coming days

So I guess Montreal is declining? I'd heard Roosh and others say it was one of the best spots in North America because it is a bit disconnected from Anglosphere culture if I'm recalling this right.

On the plus side, this would never hold up in the U.S. The 14th Amendment would never allow for it since they're using a public space.

Bolded part needs a "for now" added. The constitution gets redefined quite frequently by the supreme court or just plain ignored by law enforcement and the administration.

quebec is attempting to balance its budget for the first time in decades (albeit with about $7 billion in "equalization" payments transferred from taxpayers in other provinces, but still it's something).

a balanced budget means higher tuition for people who pursue useless degrees. it also means fewer gov't invented and funded positions for people with said useless degrees. useless degrees are disproportionately pursued by uber progressive, militantly entitled sjws, who are also disproportionately female and identify heavily as liberal or radical feminists.

the gov'ts policies hit them right in their collective entitled wallets. and they can't even fathom getting real jobs (or wouldn't be able to if they tried). so i can certainly see why they are so prone to protest.

EDIT: also, trying to persuade quebecers that they live in the anglosphere (even though they do) has proven impossible for the last few decades. they could embrace it and have a better life, but most of them are not prepared to do so and enforce strict (and backward) language laws on business and in education.

I really like Montreal - very different feel to American cities, and it has a real joie de vivre in the summer (because the winter is so long and miserable). and the women are often beautiful.

the students there are particularly virulent and apparently think there are great injustices left to fight based on their cosmopolitan life experience at the ripe age of 19. it's amplified by being in Quebec, meaning the student 'radical' and separatist groups tend to have a ton of overlap. I have visited friends at university there and there is definitely a unique flavor of opposition within the universities.

That said I wouldn't look at this as an indictment of Montreal so much as it is an indication of how irritating the student body is.
