I hv studied at Nueva Lengua in Bogota, hv done private tutors and spent a month at EAFIT in Medellin....for me the best was EAFIT, great qualifed professors, small class size, yes a little pricey but the school is state of the art, keyless card swipes to enter buildings, access to outdoor lap pool, cafe full of hot coeds, and not a far walk from the metro line. Tomtud is right all info is online....My only advice if your really serious about studying there then get out of pablodo/Parque Lleras live in Laureles or Envigado tons of cheaper rentals....push yourself out of the gringo bubble....make your life uncomfortably and your spanish will improve way more!

It's really not that far if you're staying in Poblado, my roommate made the walk every day no problems.

There's a shortcut through a park and it's really quite a scenic little stroll, especially nice when you're bringing a 20 year old cutie back with you.

I totally agree that the best way to learn is immersion. However, my Spanish is already conversational, but I need a visa so was considering a student visa. I also work during the day, which means I have to take night classes, which cost $750 a month at EAFIT. Additionally, I have to pay 6 months up front and I'm not even sure I'll want to be here in 3 months. Overall, it's a lot of cash for a visa, when I don't really want to waste time taking classes. If EAFIT were cheaper and not such a large time commitment, I'd definitely do it for the perks.

Also a question for experienced Colombian travelers. What is the typical hotel policy about bringing a girl back to your hotel? It's not my typical accommodation when traveling but I don't have a choice this trip. Should I just ask when I arrive? It's a large upscale hotel and I'm a platinum member with a couple hundred stays over the past few years. Would appreciate any advice.

Check out the website it should list it. Depends - it can really go either way. I know in Barranquilla we had to search around for one that was okay with bringing girls back, a lot seem to charge guest 'stay over' rates.

Go there and find out... Another 6'2 Indian guy may have went there and could tell you how it went for him but that really has nothing to do with how it would go for you. If you want to know what a country is going to be like for you go there and find out. Two different people can have two totally different experiences...more comes into play then your height and your race.

At 6'2 your going to be tall there for sure... really you would be tall anywhere

I've met plenty of guys who kill it here who are not tall and white jacked guys. I'm average height and white and I do well. It's always possible - even as a short darker-skinned Indian guy doing it in London.

It really depends on how an indian dude presents himself. Where I am at many of the Indian dudes are just americans with brown skin. Some of them even have strong game. Vancity and Newgame are right. Most guys exaggerate, and pulling top-flight girls in Colombia takes work just like anywhere else.
