Flight Jackets: yay or nay?
Could not find a thread on this topic. On the one hand, they look pretty cool and stylish. On the other hand....meh. Would you wear these on the regular? THoughts?

The only guys I know who wear these are white trash and wannabe thugs.

If that's you're sexy stereotype than go for it, but I highly doubt that type of character visits RVF.

Depends on how you rock it and the circles you run it. Skins and punks have been wearing them since the 60's.

That looks terrible. Unless you have some connection to the jacket, like it's from a squadron you flew for, avoid.

Go for a leather bomber jacket instead.

It does carry certain connotations...and only those kind of people tend to look "right" in one. I much prefer leather jackets, a leather bomber would probably be better. Fleece lining and so on, looks less like "I am going to knock you the fuck out" unless that's your thing.

I've always wanted a WWII Bomber jacket. I think they're classy and timeless. As for modern flight jackets, since I've been in the military (Navy), I have a mental prohibition against wearing fairly current uniform items when not in uniform.

They cost like $40. You got nothing to lose. I do think its a dated style though. You want a style that appeals
to the masses of women. Not some small white trash niche of them.

To me, it doesn't have any strong white trash connotation - I've not seen anyone wear these. I criticized the jacket because it's frumpy and unflattering.

Only if you got one issued to you in the military.

Otherwise, Barracuta jacket.

RE: Flight Jackets: yay or nay?
I'm a big fan of saying fuck what's "stylish" and have your own style. If you wanna wear MC hammer pants rock that shit and don't be apologetic for it. Honestly ya some people will be like who's that idiot but if your confident and have your own style I think people will appreciate it. Why try to follow other trends why not start your own. Reminds me of the thing with penny loafers they talk about in tipping point. Some kids in new york started wearing this out of style shoe and all the sudden its the hottest fashion trend.

I bought a members only jacket a few months back got a great deal on it at forman mills like 20 bucks. Some people gave me some shit for it and I know alot of people say they are played out but I thought it looked good and liked it so thats really what matters to me. My gf's brother in law just went out and bought one and he was making fun of me for it so do your own thing is my message.

I agree if your rocking a flight jacket with some tims your going to have a thug look but pair it with your own style and I think its all good.

All day! I will rock a field jacket too. A pair of timberlands and a backpack, looking like an extra from a Wu Tang Clan video.

Might be one of those things that play different for white guys though.

I'm going to go with a hell no. It screams old dad obsessed with bowling in his mid 40s early 50s. Something like this though with a dress shirt and black or white jeans tends to be perfect(tie being optional).

WIA said it best. I see a white guy wearing that jacket and boots WITHOUT an old school punk rock t-shirt I tend to make sure I have a blade handy.

I have some white friends in their late forties that never lost their punk vibe and they can pull it off.

good responses so far. I take it most people are not fans of this style. I think it could work though provided you have a tall, lean build and the jacket fits well. I will try to post some examples later to see what you guys think. oh and Vinman I totally agree, flight jacket AND army boots on a white dude would be menacing and not received well. Thanx skinheads! Lol
