Best Way to Accept Small Donations Online?
I have some friends from my church that are raising money to help a local family and I wanted to help them set up a way to collect donations online, but as I understand, PayPal requires you to be an official nonprofit. Is that true?

A while back someone close to me went missing and I set up a donation page to raise some financial assistance, but I don't remember if I just set up a donation page or some other kind of Paypal button. That was a temporary thing too; this may end up being more long-term.

I noticed some guys have donation buttons on blogs - that's obviously not non-profit. Can anyone offer insight on the best way to go about this?

Is it just the type of thing that they overlook unless you're raising a bunch of money? I don't expect there to be much cash flowing in. Can someone with experience suggest a better alternative?

Everyone seems to be using Patreon nowadays. Not sure if that can actually apply in your situation.

Paypal serves a lot of businesses, so not limited to non-profits. The sign up page lists "individual" and "business" categories.

A church should be a registered non-profit anyways, how do they have a bank account without a tax ID?

Use paypal or stripe bro, minimal setup time.

GoFundMe seems to be popular in my circles, I've donated through it in the past and it works well.

You don't need to be a charity to accept paypal donations but you will probably be liable for taxes on anything you collect if you just do it under a personal account.

I'd suggest using gofundme or some other crowdfunding thing. They take a small percent but allow you to share hte story of the family or person in need, post pictures, post updates, show if your on track to raising hte desired funds and they hook it up to yours or their facebook account as well.

This is the most common one I see as well.
