That's actually a really solid rule. I think I'll keep it in mind for the future. I was going to simply hold the line and not buy her anything at all to avoid her mooching, but this seems an easier route to take.

I'll definitely buy chicks stuff here and there as they earn it (usually well under the $50 threshold, which I think is about the high-end for anything short of an actual LTR over a year old). But, I'm constantly hitting chicks up for shit back. If we're walking by a store, I'll say something like "what are you going buy me here. I need some socks." I'll often throw out a "I hope you know you're buying this time" when we're out (after, that is, we've committed to a non-cheap place).

I'll often play games where the "bet" is dinner or drinks. So, if I win she pays, and if she does, she's earned her meal--not just simply received it by default.

This creates a sense of vested uncertainty, but doesn't completely make you like a broke-ass or a cheap-ass (neither of which, incidentally, I mind being).

Had this deal cooking and my assistant was out of town and away from a computer.

I swooped this fly exotic dancer the night before and needed someone to bust out some super time sensitive admin work.

Bought the girl a pair of jeans so she would help me for a few hours.

Ended up making the deal happen and pocketing a cool $25,000.

I, for one, am not "recommending" it. I'd say that you can (safely) buy a girl something, but only after --and if and only if--certain requirements are met.

My rule of thumb is that I only buy things for girls when they've earned them. This happens in stages, increasing as her investment, effort, and own expenses in me increases.

First "Date": In this fucked up, emasculated society, a girl still works as the gatekeeper to getting together, but that alone (technically) is not enough for me to give her anything but a ride to my house. Being punctual, not flakey, and putting some effort into looking and smelling good for me entitles her to one round of drinks. If she buys the second, I'll buy a third too.

Kiss through Third Base: This entitles her to additional drinks and some increased attention from me (but pretty entry-level stuff); maybe some home-prepared "tapas" at my place (no entrees) or a fast-food hamburger.

The Bang: The bang is the first significant marker of investment in me. This entitles her (and probably only after I've hit it a couple of times) to a full-on meal, home-made or out, but not unlimited. Having sex with me is not enough for me to feed you on the regular.

It progresses like this and you can imagine that it takes a couple more stages before I'm buying a girl an actual, tangible gift that she isn't going to shit or piss out. If I end up in a semi-relationship with a girl, where she's making me meals, folding the crumpled laundry on my bed for me, or doing something else nice and considerate, I'm apt to get her something sooner or later.

But this gift-giving just for having a vagina? Absolutely, positively never.
