Student kicked out of class for 'controversial' opinions on rape.
The original story is from buzzfeed news and I am not giving them clicks.

Quote:Reed College, a small liberal arts school in Portland, Oregon (why am I not surprised), attracts students who want to speak their mind.
But when Jeremiah True wouldn’t stop talking about his controversial opinions on sexual assault in his required freshman humanities course, his professor banned him from the discussion segment of the class for the remainder of the semester.
The 19-year-old told BuzzFeed News that his professor, Pancho Savery, warned him repeatedly that his views made his classmates uncomfortable before he told him in a March 14 email that he was no longer welcome to participate in the “conference” section of his Humanities 110 lecture-seminar class.
“Please know that this was a difficult decision for me to make and one that I have never made before; nevertheless, in light of the serious stress you have caused your classmates, I feel that I have no other choice,” Savery wrote in the email, obtained by BuzzFeed News.

As if there was any doubt that this country's colleges are fostering a nation of pussies.

Quote:True said he sparred with classmates over discussion topics related to ancient Greece and Rome, such as the “patriarchal” belief that logic is more important than emotion and his analysis of Lucretia’s rape. But it was his questioning of the widely shared and often debated statistic that 1 in 5 women in college are sexually assaulted — it doesn’t serve “actual rape victims” to “overinflate” numbers, he said — and his rejection of the term “rape culture” that led to him being banned, he said.
“I am critical of the idea of a rape culture because it does not exist,” he wrote in a lengthy email to Savery explaining his perspectives that he has also posted online. “We live in a society that hates rape, but also hasn’t optimized the best way to handle rape. Changing the legal definition of rape is a slippery slope. If sexual assault becomes qualified as rape, what happens next? What else can we legally redefine to become rape? Why would we want to inflate the numbers of rape in our society?”

Sounds like the kid might be one of our own. At least he's reading from the same playbook, aside from winding up at a liberal arts college.

Quote:“There are several survivors of sexual assault in our conference, and you have made them extremely uncomfortable with what they see as not only your undermining incidents of rape, but of also placing too much emphasis on men being unfairly charged with rape,” Savery wrote to True. “The entire conference without exception, men as well as women, feel that your presence makes them uncomfortable enough that they would rather not be there if you are there, and they have said that things you have said in our conference have made them so upset that they have difficulty concentrating in other classes. I, as conference leader, have to do what is best for the well-being of the entire class, and I am therefore banning you from conference for the remainder of the semester.”

This idea that everyone has to be comfortable in classrooms makes me uncomfortable and triggered.

Quote:“I’m really comforted by the administrative response,” said Kate Hilts, a junior. “It’s really nice to know that my school supports survivors and listens when they say they don’t feel safe. Rape culture is indisputable and [True’s] words and actions are deeply upsetting. They’ve retraumatized and triggered survivors, and that seems antithetical to Reed culture.”

True has basically re-raped them by voicing his opinions.

Quote:True isn’t planning on quieting down anytime soon. On Wednesday, he emailed a lengthy diatribe to the college’s professors and launched a change.org petition that currently has more than 350 signatures.
“I just want to bring attention to the fact that this happens on colleges,” he said. “Right now, going to college is a terrifying experience if you are male.”

Like I said, this kid is echoing stuff I've seen on here very often.

Picture of the kid. What do you want to wager that a bunch of privileged white princesses couldn't stomach a black kid challenging their worldviews?

Anyway, he's set up a change.org petition that I mean to sign. Normally I think change petitions are stupid but I feel like this is one that would be worth a sign.

He must at least be a lurker. Good on him. Notice how if a woman gets fondled by a man on a train or bus she is now a 'survivor'.

This is the academic pig of a professor who kicked this kid out of class for expressing his opinion:

http://www.reed.edu/reed_magazine/autumn...avery.html

Quote:Pancho Savery
Professor of English & Humanities
Arrived at Reed: 1995
Undergraduate Degree: Stanford University
Graduate Degree: Cornell University
Previous Teaching Jobs: University of Massachusetts–Boston, Cornell University, Ithaca College
Recent Classes Taught: Humanities 110; Introduction to Drama: Modern Europe; Studies in African-American Literature: The Black Radical Tradition; Studies in American Literature: The Beat Generation
Recent Theses Advised: “The Thing You Need to Know Is: It’s All About Sex”: The Function of Heteronormative Discourse and Ideology in Queer as Folk and The L Word; “Taking Harlem’s Heartbeat”: Blues, Bebop, and Epic in Langston Hughes’ Montage of a Dream Deferred; Nomads, Rogues, Boys, and Men: Manhood and the Mythology of the Frontier in On the Road and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

He's been feeding at that disgusting trough for 20 years now, "advising" on "theses" like "The Function of Heteronormative Discourse and Ideology in Queer as Folk and The L Word".

This gentleman is what the phrase scum of the earth has been coined for.

Fortunate that the kid is a minority, he might have a real chance of beating this bullshit.

And that professor has taught some classes on African-American studies. Maybe if this blows up on social media in a few years he can be teaching a class on "Why making white women uncomfortable isn't a good enough reason to kick your black students out of class."

In a sane world he should be fired and never be allowed to hold an academic job again. This kind of suppression of legitimate opinion and discourse in a class setting is in the most blatant violation of the spirit of academic freedom and the pursuit of truth.

It is not as if the kid is being disruptive or making a nuisance of himself; he is politely expressing opinions that can be found, among other places, in a major article in Slate written by a liberal woman. If that is considered off-limits in a college class, what does that say about that college and the "teacher" who enforces this sort of repression?

I also think that he could take this up as a Title IX dispute of discrimination based on gender. I can't see a woman being removed from a class over these opinions.

RE: Student kicked out of class for 'controversial' opinions on rape.
He makes valid points of course and you can read his email that he sent to the professor on the petition site:

Quote:I do not believe I am a sexist, but I also think that because I have had family members and dear friends that have been raped, I want accuracy, not hysteria and overblown statistics. I think it's important to treat rape seriously, and not to over inflate it and cause panic. I think it's important to listen to experts when we're talking about these things, and not college students.

http://time.com/3633903/campus-rape-1-in...-straight/

But what can you expect from them. They are brainwashing everyone. Resistance is futile.
Because walking a mile in women's shoes is going to make men clear the experience of being a woman, of being potentially raped like those 1 in 2300 women.

Also - when I am starting to find some of my memes faster on google than on my own PC, then I have either disorganized files or some of my stuff is more popular than I think:

In any case - big lesson for the young man: Study only STEM, law, business or medicine. All other degrees are useless and you are only troubling yourself disputing realities with the Social Justice Borg. They have long given their brains over to the hivemind.

RE: Student kicked out of class for 'controversial' opinions on rape.
Quote:“There are several survivors of sexual assault in our conference, and you have made them extremely uncomfortable with what they see as not only your undermining incidents of rape,

Here is the problem with the social justice narrative. Sexual assault is defined so broadly to basically be meaningless.

On one extreme side of the definition it is defined, I think rightly, as a unwanted or non-consensual sexual encounter that is basically everything up to and including rape.

This is intentional. A woman says she was sexually assaulted and you, the public collective, imagine her being passed out drunk on a bed in a frat house while 'creepy rapists-in-training' frat boys finger her and engage in other sex acts that don't include penile-in-vagina penetration.

On the other side of the definition a sexual assault can be defined as something as tame as an unwanted kiss or a playful smack on the ass or a misread signal or semi-boob or butt grope on the dance floor.

In the former, well...I don't think anyone can claim that it is not a violation that could lead to some issues for the victim (male or female) but in the latter it is just fucking insane to call someone a survivor. I know I have been groped before by old women, fags, and even friends.

These people play this up like they survived the holocaust or something.

Also, note that it is intentionally how they conflate these two different, but somewhat similar, definitions. This is intentional.

I know this because my feminist mother was one of the feminists in the 60's and 70's to get these sexual assault laws passed.

These SJW types know that they can tar someone based on conflating these very different narratives and shut down debate because they know that, and they still push the idea in various ways, that the public sees rapists as the most evil thing in the world.

They push the idea of rapists as strangers who jump out of the bushes and violently...well rape...their victims.

Then they back pedal with all the saying like, "99% of rapists are friends and family members" and they very quietly push the idea of rape as not something violent but instead as, "a boyfriend or date that will keep pestering for sex" and they play up the non-consent notions of rape instead of the violation definitions.

This way they bridge the sexual assault definitions with the scary imagery of violation defined rape through the idea of rape as non-consent based instead of violation and predatory power dynamics.

So, now any girl who got groped on the dance floor after pre-gaming and downing 15 apple-tinis get's to claim victim status right along side the girl gangraped in a home invasion like that porn star recently.

It's all one sick mind game to these people.

Women these days think they can shop for a man like they shop for a purse or a pair of shoes. Sorry ladies. It doesn't work that way.

Women are like sandwiches. All men love sandwiches. That's a given. But sandwiches are only good when they're fresh. Nobody wants a day old sandwich. The bread is all soggy and the meat is spoiled.

15 years ago a policeman tried to do a friend of mine for "homosexually motivated sexual assault".

He'd slapped a male cyclist's ass whilst driving in a road rage-isn incident (long story).

Ridiculous escalation of human contact to sexual assault has been going on for some time.

Sickening. I thought maybe he got kicked out for saying something like rape isn't so bad...but all he did was tell the truth about the "1 in 5" lie, something that is apparent from the justice departments own statistics!

“I've noticed a fascinating phenomenon in my thirty years of teaching: schools and schooling are increasingly irrelevant to the great enterprises of the planet. Highfive

By the way, I saw this article this morning and was going to start a thread this evening. Even came up with a thread title:

Take care of those titties for me.

I like your thread title better, Dusty. I need to work on my title-game. I am a long way from even trying to match Steve or Tuth's meme-game, but I think I at least got the format right here.

This is beyond ridiculous, totally absurd!
Someone should track him and bring him here as that's where he belongs. His gold membership is on me!

His message must be spread as far and as wide as possible to expose the idiocy of the college and that faggot teacher.

I'll sign his petition once I get home. I invite everyone in here to sign it as well!

What are the odds that this is the same Oregon Liberal Arts college that banned the student for "resembling" someone's rapist.

It'll end up being a brilliant marketing ploy to empty the pockets of the parents of empowered womyns and manginas all over the country. Nothing like a few sacrificial lambs to increase enrollment and profits!

But thinking about it again, that's quiet a fitting name for a world class faggot as him!
