'John' is 60, divorced, and gets paid to have sex with prostitutes. Well, "more often than not it’s just a handjob" he says.

He is one of several private investigators being hired in Australia as 'brothel busters', who pose as regular customers in order to unearth illegal sex work.

"I'm pretty sure plenty of fellas would be a bit envious of how I'm earning a bit of pocket money from time to time," he told news.com.au, replying when asked whether it was a good retirement gig: "Oh, most definitely."

His job is necessary because authorities have little power to access premises without a court order, making it difficult to bust the brothels posing as massage parlours that are ubiquitous in New South Wales.

John can provide them with highly graphic detail about the services on offer however, filing reports that can run for up to three pages and include dates, times, people, places, who, what, when, where and how much.

"It’s a document that will be used in court, so it has to be pretty detailed and very accurate. It’s not something you can waddle off in a couple of minutes," he said. Anti-sex trafficking campaign on Tinder

More often than not, he claims, the parlours are fronts.

"If you looked hard enough, you might be able to find a massage parlour that doesn’t offer sexual services," he said. "In my experience there have only been three premises where I have gone in and not been offered that service some time during the course of the treatment."

John notes that while some offer intercourse which he obligingly accepts, "more often than not it’s just a handjob. They just want to get it over and done with and get the next one in."

Lachlan Jarvis, managing director of private investigation firm Lyonswood, is in charge of hiring undercover sex investigators.

"We prefer people who are single, and obviously they have to be willing to undertake sexual activity," he told news.com.au.

"I’m not surprised that some people would say that spending ratepayers’ money on the services we provide is outrageous, but they don’t understand that we help stop sex trafficking, for example."

John counts himself lucky to have what is a fairly relaxed and flexible job.

"It’s not your typical nine-to-five, Monday-to-Friday job," he said. "There are no time constraints, and there’s never been a stage where I’ve felt threatened or worried about my safety."

When I read this "job description", all I could think of was: what a complete misallocation of law enforcement resources.

Reminds me of the complete bullshit "solicitation" cases I see in my job a lot. Undercover cops place classified ads in the back pages of local papers or on Craigslist, enticing hard-up, ugly old guys, incels, and weirdos to respond. When they show up at the meeting place and offer money for sex, they get arrested.

So, so lame. This is the type of bullshit that vice cops spend their time doing.

I don't see this guy as much different from the Saudi religious police.

There need to be scare quotes in that sentence, because they "help" "stop" "sex trafficking" - none of those words are accurate.

First of all his job is despicable. I have more more respect for cops who fuck prostitutes for free and then leave them alone. That is more common.

Also fucking prostitutes is almost the lowest transactional sex you can have. Some guys even say that fucking a whore gets you -1 notch count. I met some big whoremongers and they were mostly mentally broken men.

Now that said it's probably not so bad to pay from time to time and there are many levels of transaction in between - sugar-daddydom, some cases of marriage (especially if she for example is not attracted to you at all, but marries you only because of 50 mio. $ or even much less money in the bank - sometimes only because she had to settle and you were the best choice for now), various forms of sponsorships etc.

But brothels are probably the lowest rung of the litter on par to street hookers. It can't get more transactional as that than a woman fucking dozens of clients a day like a factory worker. Would not take his job.

Fucking hookers for protection as a cop is more honorable.

Vice laws really need to be abolished. Just a complete waste of resources and a massive infringement on personal liberty. People who think they live in a free country are totally deluded when shit like this happens.

I'd rather pay a brothel/apartment/massage parlor hooker (a European or Asian one anyway, where plenty of fairly and sometimes very attractive girls can be found - it always sounds like US hookers, high end escorts aside, are the bottom of the barrel in terms of looks?) than throw significantly or vastly more excessive amounts of money away on a sugarbaby who's going to try to take financial advantage of you in a much more comprehensive and less transparent manner.

Sex with a skilled hooker who can be bothered to fake enthusiasm pretty well, is not infrequently significantly better - in the pure physical sense - than a ONS with a drunk club slut. The only thing you don't get with that hooker - aside from genuine intimacy, but that tends to be a little lacking in a ONS too when alcohol is involved - is the ego validation. I've tried lots of both for reference. These days I overall prefer non-drunken, non-transactional sex in a casual STR.

Probably because most US hookers are drug addicted bottom rung sluts who could easily do some other job that pays the bills (waiting tables, etc.) but are too short sighted and a bit lazy for that. In a lot of foreign countries they do it out of raw survival and/or the wages are so much more than anything else they would be fools to resist the money. Human trafficking is a factor but lately it seems every instance of prostitution is conveniently called trafficking, which is of course pure horse shit.

A Miami police chief was just caught in one of these stings, I've read how these type of stings are not considered entrapment, but I still don't agree with the practice of them.

I have no idea what the laws are like in OZ, but is there really that great of a difference in punishment between attempted prostitution and prostitution? In other words, to get a conviction and break up the massage parlor, does he actually need to get sexual contact from the woman or would the offer suffice? I venture that he is getting all of these handjobs unnecessarily.
