Foreign Email Scammers And Solicitations (for informational use)
Post your Email Scammer Solicitations that you have received here. Having a catalogue of these scammer communications would be a help to the community, I think.

You might think that these scams are so obvious that no one would ever fall for them. But you would be mistaken.

Besides being amusing to read, it should help guys identify and avoid such scams.

I would respectfully ask that readers and posters adhere to these rules:

1. DO NOT post any identifying information (either about the originator or the recipient). This includes addresses, phone numbers, names, or anything specific. Go through the text carefully before you post it, please.

2. DO NOT respond to scammers or fraudsters in any way. Remember, these guys are criminals. Some of them are probably dangerous. We can laugh from a distance, but do not engage these people.

This thread is for informational purposes only, and is intended to serve as a guidance and warning device for members.

I will start off the fun with this threatening email that was received by someone I know. Some of these scammers pose as debt collectors, and threaten people with "arrest" if they don't pay up.

This email claimed to come from the "Attorney General Office" and had an attachment with fake-looking "badges" and police insignia from imaginary law enforcement agencies. Cute. Real cute.

From: Attorney General Office
Date: February 10, 2015 at 8:03:55 AM CST
To: [Victim]
Subject: Final Legal Notification

Hello,

This is the final legal notification for you, regarding legal case on your name with case file number (XYZ1238999). Now we are going to arrest you regarding a Lawsuit which is filed on your name under section 9 chapter 19. So for more information contact to your local sheriff department or call us back to Attorney General’s Office. We are going to update this thing to your employer place and we are sure you will get terminated from your job with the immediate effect.

Regards,
Sr. Attorney
[Fake name]
Bar no. [Fake bar number with 9 digits]
Attorney General Office
Phone Number
+1-[bullshit foreign number]

As you can tell, the purpose of this scam is to have the mark contact the fake "attorney" and make payment arrangements.

These scammers have access to electronic court filing databases, and send these out to people they know are in financial trouble.

Personally, if they're going to scam me I would appreciate it if they took the time to compose a letter written by someone who knows how to structure an English letter.

That's the surprising thing about the email scammers, and the online dating bots:
the writing is so obviously written by a non-native speaker. But they must work, otherwise they wouldn't do it.

I got a letter like this from one of Gaddafi's closest generals 'in hiding'.

Funny though, as I automatically started reading the email in a Nigerian accent.

These fuckers are too funny.

Check out this website, these guys troll the Nigerian scammers... funniest shit you'll ever read.

I've received an email from a Sheik in Dubai claiming that he's out of toilet paper. He's asking for $20,000USD for a new roll.

Legit?

RE: Foreign Email Scammers And Solicitations (for informational use)
Every now and then I get spam/scam e-mail trying to spook me by saying that I've done wrong in "World of Warcraft" for my allegedly trying to sell whatever items to people that i'm not supposed to for real life money and trying to get me to spill my account details to a site that's obviously not blizzard(nor is the sender's email addy from them).

Funny thing is, I've never played World of Warcraft in my life. Laugh

No idea if that's done by Nigerian or eastern european scammers though.

Funny, I've been thinking of making a thread like this for years.

Lately, I've been getting a lot of spam e-mails with pictures of hot chicks attached.

Jesus, I never knew about that website. Incredible. Looks they string the scammers along, telling them they'll send money if the scammers do stupid stunts, like hold up demeaning signs or put things on their heads.

Crazy, but I have to admit, funny.
