I'm curious if the other Christians here go to church or not.

Personally I don't go to church. I don't need a priest telling me the meaning of the Bible. I prefer to interpret it myself.

I also don't believe Paul was a prophet. More of a con man. I say this because the letters Paul wrote twist the Gospel around into authoritarian garbage IMO. So I do not want to go to church and hear those read.

The Earth is my church. God is everywhere.

I'm Catholic just in principle and I rarely go to church, only when there is a big event like a funeral or a wedding or something like that.

I'm more on the agnostic side of things. I just don't know if there is a God or not. Catholicism doesn't convince me, neither does the theory of evolution. I'm stuck in the middle.

^ I go to church, but I don't tithe. It's an Old Testament thing not required of modern believers (sort of like animal sacrifices). Some conniving preachers will say it is a requirement, though, for obvious reasons. If I have some money and feel like giving I'll do it. Otherwise I don't sweat it.

I go to church pretty regularly. Not all churches and preachers are the same however. You need to find a preacher that isn't:

1. Female
2. Gay
3. A man more afraid of his wife's judgement than God

I've met lackluster preachers in all denominations which is unfortunate. I knew an amazing pastor in a Catholic church back home who could explain to you why "masturbation" was a sin without defaulting to the "you'll go to hell."

I've also known the same pastors in catholicism default to the opposite. If he can't explain why you shouldn't do something without understanding the context the bible gives than he isn't a good preacher.

There's a post on here about my struggles with a southern baptist ministry that was keeping me at arms length. I ended up leaving after the pastor's sermons stopped being applicable to my life. He was more afraid of his wife than God.

I tried a few churches on for size until I found my niche in the Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod). The pastor speaks with fire and has a red pill outlook on things that is very refreshing. You will know the pastor is a good one when parents are telling him to make his sermons more PG.

Best of luck, if you're not able to go to a good church pray and meditate from time to time. That should help you find your spiritual "center".

You would enjoy the Quaker church, the ones with unprogrammed worship. No pastor, no sermons. You won't like how its leaning more and more left each day...but the good part is that you don't have to agree with it or tolerate it to go there.

I go to a southern baptist church.

I understand Christianity held society together, but I have a hard time believing wine in a cup is the blood of Christ.

I also don't like how the bible and other stories tell of tangible, physical evidence of God like 'the day the sun danced', and numerous times in the bible where God blatantly tells them what to do.
It's like, gee, why doesn't he care to give proof of his existence to us now like he allegedly did 2000 yrs ago?

I also don't feel any remorse for casual sex, especially in an environment where marriage is very risky for men.
Ive also come to the conclusion, even if there is a God, there is no way you could possibly judge men and women by the same moral standards.

^I agree with the sexual thing. I'm Christian but feel no qualms about fucking. I could be wrong, but I believe they put that stuff in the Bible for women to control their true nature.

Also, the Bible has been heavily edited, so personally I don't feel the need to follow each and every word.

There was a post about what the original translations really mean. The greek word is "pornia" and the bible doesn't call out male lust as bad. Mostly women who give up their vaginas without committing to marriage. They're stupid since at least prostitutes get money for their ways.

The catholic church hasn't been led by the spirit for a long time. I'd argue that red pill thinking is the manifestation of the spirit. Your skepticism of catholic doctrine is well founded. The original meaning behind their message has been lost and even they can't explain why they do or say what they say.

Maybe you'd find what you are looking for by studying the bible directly without a 3rd party skewing the message. Your experiences will color the lessons and message the bible has. I have a great book I can recommend to you that may help put the message of the bible into some perspective. Let me know.

Christian but I wasn't raised in a Christian household. Tried church some. Couldn't stand it. Mainly it was the damn contemporary music they were playing and the lack of fire and brimstone. I wanted a preacher who could put the fear of God in people. Couldn't find one.

Yes I go to Church whenever I can. It's all about the priest. The "denomination" is bullshit. The Word is the Word, what "denomination" they belong to is irrelevant worldly stuff.

I'm orthodox btw. There are plenty of red pill orthodox priests after the Communist terror last century the Orthodox Church has become pretty manly. That said, there are tons of sects of Christians in America who understand the Bible much better than the Catholics do. And there are plenty of courrpted parts of the Orthodox Church that are as bad as the Catholics. Finding a good priest is tough but worth it.

Samsea do you think I'd find a better priest in the hood or a more affluent area, or does it not matter? I live on the edge of a bad part of town but I can get to the other part of town without even getting in the car. It's a bunch of pussies over there though. (I live in Massachusetts where a lot of the better off people are hard left.)

I don't go to Church frequently although I try to adhere to Catholic traditions. I suppose I'm more agnostic than anything; I continue to pray and I have moments during which I do not doubt God's existence but mostly I'm very confused.

I was raised Catholic, and only after discovering that 90% of churchgoers have not even bothered to read the Bible, and the 10% who "did" were probably lying, I grew very disillusioned and quit bothering with church. You could quote fake Scripture about how Jesus predicted the iPhone and they'd nod their heads in agreement.

I'm loathe to go even for weddings or funerals because there is no sense of community around a bunch of people doing the same gestures and incantations taught to them by their parents with no semblance of belief structure. If the preacher man had a heart attack right in the middle of the sermon not one person could step forward and finish because nobody has any idea what's going on.

No you're right. It is a sin. We live in a fallen world so undoubtedly there's going to be a lot of grays where sin is going to be committed.

The real power of christianity isn't letting us know what paths lead to sin but how to heal the wounds caused by those sins. By wounds, it's that spiritually dead feeling one gets after acting at that animalistic level for so long.

If you don't accept the Pauline epistles as being the divinely inspired word of God, then you are not a Christian. They are nothing less than the doctrinal basis of the faith. Calling them "authoritarian garbage" is spitting in the face of God. You don't get to pick and choose your favorite books out of the Bible. You either accept or reject the entire thing. Nothing else makes sense, from the perspective of man or God. Christianity is not some kind of buffet religion where you just take what you want and leave the rest. Your post reeks of millennial generation thinking, solipsism and narcissism, i.e. "I want to be a Christian on my own terms." It's nonsense.

Also, your statement that, "The Earth is my church. God is everywhere," is pure Pantheism. Again, this is not Christian. Not even remotely.

Finally, the Gospel of Thomas is fictional and heretical.

If you are sincere about your desire to follow Christ, then you need to seriously reevaluate your beliefs, because as it stands now your faith is in great danger from these numerous heresies you're spouting. If you would rather hold on to them than change, then you should honestly stop calling yourself a Christian entirely, because currently, by what you've posted here you're more accurately just some kind of Pantheist who thinks Jesus was a cool guy.

Typically, I go to church and do my own thing. I'll go during a weekday afternoon and I'm usually the one person there. I feel a real connection rolling solo.

I did attend a mass at The Vatican in December, 2013 and it was a great experience. I would do that again.

I try to keep this subtle on ROK, and I don't argue religion in a forum or comments section, but I'm a convert to the Eastern Orthodox Church, which is the only reason I'm still a Christian. I usually go on Sundays.

To call it red pill would be anachronistic, but we are much more resistant to progressivism, although it varies widely by parish. The EOC is probably the only branch of Christianity in America that has more men than women in it.

This is an interesting read. The woman who wrote it originally didn't like Orthodoxy because "The service wasn't focused on me." I'm only posting it here because I realize a lot of the ROK community wishes they could be religious but can't put faith in Christianity anymore. The EOC is almost a different religion entirely compared to regular American Christianity.
