While is is true, the actual pixel values for the dress in most of the professional photographs don't match up with the pixel values in 'the photo.'

Based on pixel values it is literally a grey/light blue and a dark sepia/brown/orange coloration.

This shit is just mind-blowing. Okay when I first saw this yesterday, it was clearly white and gold. I didn't even understand the controversy and was thinking this was some troll thread. Then after I saw a normal pic of the dress it started looking black and blue, and I couldn't understand how I saw it as white and gold. I just looked at it again today 10 minutes ago and the shit turned white and gold again. And I was wondering how the hell this looked black and blue to me yesterday. I just came and looked at it again a second time and the fucking thing just turned black and blue again!

What really fucks this up is that you can have multiple people in real-time standing there looking at the picture and seeing different shit. So it's not on some kind of time loop. I heard people arguing about it, and I intentionally said "What, it looks black and blue" when it looked white and bronze. But then a guy and a girl agreed with my lie.

So... now I'm not sure what to think.

Is the garment in real life perceived to have different colors? Is it just the image of it?

The annoying thing about this story is how the media has bought the mindless hype hook, line, and sinker. This was even on the front page of the International New York Times yesterday! (Probably the domestic version too.)

Naturally, sales of the dress have skyrocketed. And I haven't seen anyone in the press speculate that this is the latest bar-raising social media campaign planted by the sellers of the dress. There's a whole industry of people who plant these types of stories -- based on their knowledge of how our mindless culture will react -- all the time and hope that they go "viral."

If that's what this is, kudos to the planners, alongside a frown at everyone in the press who hasn't advanced this at-least plausible theory.

It looks white and gold to me, and it doesn't change colors when I leave the room, put paper over the monitor, squint my eyes etc. . .

so yeah.

So I figured it out, I saw a .gif of the image losing a bit of the overexposure. At first it just looked like a darker white and gold, but then I saw a comment that said "Squint your eyes and look through your eyelashes" then I saw the black and blue. Whenever the exposure changed the dress changed to Black and blue. BUT I still see white and gold on the original photo.

SO. . . .I looked at the original photo and squinted my eyes and barely just saw the blue and black. When I open my eyes regularly it's black and gold.

It looked white and gold at first and didn't change. Then I got drunk and went to bed. Got up a few hours later and was still drunk and looked at this thread and it was blue and black. I read somewhere that it might have to do with your pupils being dilated. Elsewhere I read that it might have something to do with how much sleep you have gotten, which might be similar. Either way, it was spooky seeing it as different colors. Now it still looks white and gold.
