RE: Indian Guru uses Yoga to date Women
Yoga takes the place of religion for lots of modern women, it's 'spiritual' without making any real demands or restricting them in any way.

It's even better than that - Yoga is basically western exercises and gymnastics rebranded by Indian nationalists:

Quote:The reality is that postural yoga, as we know it in the 21st century, is neither eternal nor synonymous with the Vedas or Yoga Sutras. On the contrary, modern yoga was born in the late 19th/early 20th centuries. It is a child of the Hindu Renaissance and Indian nationalism, in which Western ideas about science, evolution, eugenics, health and physical fitness played as crucial a role as the ‘mother tradition’. In the massive, multi-level hybridisation that took place during this period, the spiritual aspects of yoga and tantra were rationalised, largely along the theosophical ideas of ‘spiritual science,’ introduced to India by the US-origin, India-based Theosophical Society, and internalised by Swami Vivekananda, who led the yoga renaissance.
In turn, the physical aspects of yoga were hybridised with drills, gymnastics and body-building techniques borrowed from Sweden, Denmark, England, the United States and other Western countries. These innovations were creatively grafted on the Yoga Sutras–which has been correctly described by Agehananda Bharati, the Austria-born Hindu monk-mystic, as ‘the yoga canon for people who have accepted Brahmin theology’–to create an impression of 5,000 years worth of continuity where none really exists. The HAF’s current insistence is thus part of a false advertising campaign about yoga’s ancient Brahminical lineage.

RE: Indian Guru uses Yoga to date Women
Yoga is great exercise. Flexibility is a highly underrated aspect of fitness.
Nearly all high level professional football and basketball teams do yoga. (and Pilates) (mainly because of its rejuvenating effects -- stretches and strengthens muscles, tendons, and ligaments, circulates blood, helps remove toxins, etc. all while being very low impact)
Quote:What it is about yoga that attracts mostly white female practitioners?
White women are attracted to it because its great exercise.
The price ensures that classes are mostly white.
Yoga is expensive.. Poor women can't afford formal classes.
Rich women work hard to stay skinny. Poor women work hard just to survive.

- Various Mormon leaders (Warren Jeffs)
- Various Christian leaders (Davis Koresh)
- Various Muslim leaders (Yosef Bey)
Etc.
This type of shit has been around forever.

RE: Indian Guru uses Yoga to date Women
A lot of professional mixed martial arts fighters do yoga to improve stability, prevent injury, expedite recovery and to improve breathing, among countless other benefits you get from it.
I have a chronic tailbone injury from BJJ that completely debilitates me if I don't give it attention.
I can't say that yoga healed it. I'm sure there were some other factors like taking a few short breaks. But I can confidently say yoga contributed significantly to me basically eliminating this issue.
I still have it but as long as I practice some yoga in the morning and in the evening it doesn't flare up.
Any notions of yoga being effeminate are ridiculous. Yoga is legit as fuck.
