Gents,

I found out I just landed a software engineer internship for the summer at... you guessed it. The place we all love to hate.

They're probably gonna make me sign all manner of shit so that I can't talk about what the mystical Frankenstein of an algorithm they have does exactly, but I'd like to use this position to the best of my ability to help the community that's given so much to me.

I'll update this thread as I learn more. Stay tuned folks. I might turn this into an AMA style thread later on.

Thanks for the support and words of caution. I'll proceed with extreme discretion, based on how the situation looks. If it seems like the office is pretty close, I'll avoid saying anything specific until I've concluded my time there.

To be quite honest, I think this thread should be closed, and deleted. Obviously, keep swuglyfe around. It's not often an RVF member can infiltrate the source of so much pussy for his brethren. To say this is a golden opportunity is an understatement.

Once the internship is done and you have time to reflect on everything you've learned and can share without risking your position, you can post the most epic datasheet in the history of the RVF.

How to get to the top of the pile, auto-likers, most successful pictures, cities with the most users, favorable ratios, and attractiveness, etc etc etc.

Then, we can ask the powers that be to enable multiple rep points, upon which I will bestow...

ONE MILLION REPUTATION RUPEES!!!!

Seriously, congrats on the position, hope you learn a lot, and may the Game gods protect you on this journey. This could be legendary if done right.

I agree keep this shit on the low or lock this thread....for now. Perhaps give us an update once your internship is over, what's going on the inside and your experience.

Last thing you need is to be shitcanned at a pretty cool internship for the sake of an internet forum (no offense gents). Take care of yourself and your career first.

Tell those guys that Linux needs a Tinder than can separate by Location. Sorting though thousands of matches and trying to figure out who is in Brazil, Colombia, Chili, and USA is impossible.

While time consuming you could if you have an android phone spoof your location to X town and see who is close by.

Just before Tuth or another moderator closes this down for a few months, I'd like to put out a public call to all members here to submit (in neat lists) all theories and suppositions they have about the app. Doing so will allow me, in my future datasheet, to create a section on fact vs. fiction, and to more directly address the concerns of this community. I know I have some vaguely floating in my head, but I want an authoritative list to work off of that can help as many people as possible. Just look at Kamikaze's post for some other examples.

eg. I think that autolikers put me at the bottom of the list.

Keep it strictly to the hypotheses please, not feature requests or asking to fix the buggy thing.

How would an internship at Tinder even mean anything? If a chick doesn't swipe right based on your physical appearance you're SOL.

It's not like at an internship you're going to be doing much of value anyway - probably doing customer service and getting coffee for the programmers.

Tinder is owned by IAC, any of the other IAC properties provide much more complexity that an iphone app.

1) Autoliker will fuck up your matches

2) Bitches are most likely to match, respond, message later on weeknights and Sunday night

3) Ripped guys with their shirts off in a non cheesy profile pic get the most matches

4) Good looking guy DJ, band guy playing instrument, singer in main pic get 2nd most matches

5) Guy with a cute or cool animal in main photo get 3rd most matches

6) Smiling rarely helps a male with matches

7) Black and white profile pics don't work as well as color (most girls and people know black and white makes almost everyone look better than they actually are)

8) Having a photo with hot girls in it having fun with you increases messages and matches

9) Putting a profile with a good Instagram profile (well curated DHV'ing) name link can help you.

I started my developer career as an intern too - don't be surprised if you're not given credentials that give you access to these points until you're full hired :/ you may just have to rely on word-of-mouth around the office at the beginning.
