The reality is that when you show people visual images of behavior and accompany them with humor, you are creating a psychological association of positivity in the viewer's mind. They associate the behavior with the good feelings they got from laughter. So far from not glorifying trashy behavior, films like this encourage it, not only from the direct onscreen example acted out by a sympathetic main character, but by the subliminal psychological process I just outlined (using humor to associate positive emotions with a displayed behavior).

There's also the fact that movies, especially of this type (female-marketed romantic comedies) have happy endings for the main character. This means that despite everything that happens to the woman in this story, everything is going to turn out well for her in the end. This also encourages the viewer to partake in her abominable behavior, because the message is that such behavior has no consequences: everything will go your way in the end. This gives young women a license to party, do drugs and whore around in their 20s, because they believe they can count on a Prince Charming to rescue them when the time is right. I mean, in this film that premise could not be displayed more blatantly - this obnoxious, ugly woman is asked out on a date by a very successful surgeon immediately after displaying her stupidity. The overall message of the film is very clear: "Ladies, behave like sluts, focus on your career and having fun above all else, and be assured that some wealthy man will be begging to marry you when you're ready."

And it's very obvious why John Cena and Lebron are in the movie (and featured in the trailer): to ensure that women are able to drag men along to the theater with them. Once there, in exchange for seeing their favorite sports stars on screen for a few minutes, the men will then be subjected to an hour and a half of programming that belittles them and encourages them to expect abominable behavior from women, because "that's just how things are these days".

So true. If you think programming isn't real in movies try this:

If you watched the movie Mrs. Doubtfire as a kid/teenager go back and watch it as an adult. I watched it the other day...and holy shit is all I have to say.

Right after Robin Williams passed, I wanted to watch this one again to remember him by. Just right when I logged in to Itunes to try to rent it something stopped me from doing it. Then I thought to myself on why I couldn't seem to want to watch it again? I loved it as a kid! Then I taught about him having to dress like a old bitch to see his own kid and the anger all made sense! Indeed programming is real folks!!

So true. The more i thought about Mrs. Doubtfire, the more mad I became. What a fucking a cunt of an ex-wife. And yet he does everything he can to make her happy?? ie. that gourmet chinese takeout scene. Even when i was 6 years old and watching it I remember thinking "why is the ex-wife such a bitch?" A lot of the divorce state never made sense to me - I guess I was never much susceptible to the blue pill even pre- red pill.

But also... why is lebron in NY? Is this some knicks fan's wet dream where they put him on the knicks?

also, this title is misleading because judd apatow does not fall for amy schumer, either in real life or in the movie. That doctor is bill haider.

Judd apatow actually has a decent wife in leslie mann.

In case anyone was wondering and still griping that this movies is not going to be about feminism.

The Time magazine and Vagina Monologues writer states it clearly on the interview of the new feminist super-movie Mad Max:

Hideous that chick is the definition of a boner killer.
She has big jowls, I would allow her to gobble my nuts like a pelican, but thats it.
Wouldnt even play with the nipples or finger her clit during.
Thats the real subversive takeaway: Amy Schumer is anything better than a three and totally non-bangable under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. This fat/ugly acceptance is almost as bad as Lena Dunham.
