It's a simple way to respect identities.

The Landing, a space for gender and sexual diversity, is hosting a public awareness campaign called “Ask My Pronouns”. The campaign is raising awareness of gender neutral pronouns and diversity in gender identities, demonstrating that asking someone what pronouns they use is a simple way to show respect.

Gender neutral pronouns are singular third person pronouns that function exactly like he/him and she/her in a sentence. Common gender neutral pronouns include the singular they/them, and neologisms (newly created words) such as ze/zir, pronounced ‘zee’ and ‘zeer’.

People choose to use gender neutral pronouns for all kinds of reasons:
• To demonstrate a non-binary, trans, genderqueer, agender, gender fluid, creative, and/or gender questioning identity.
• To indicate that gender is not relevant in many contexts, or to make a political statement about gender.
• To act in solidarity with a friend or loved one who uses gender neutral pronouns.

Finding out what pronouns someone uses is as easy as asking (when you can catch a private moment): “What pronouns do you use?”

I see this all the time online, but I really don't run into it much in real life. I do run into bullshit feminist attitudes or claims in public about unequal pay or 1 in 5 raped, but actual "ask me about my pronouns craziness"? I never see it in person.

If I do, I will have no interest in knowing these people as friends, and I will just laugh and consider them nuts.

I believe this kind of thinking has jumped the shark, and will be viewed by more and more people as nuts.

This is only the start of it all. We're too old to completely overhaul the way we speak and can careless about this, but in the future this will be put in the school curriculum and be mandatory.

Like Zelescorpion would write this is the groundwork currently being done to implement a 1984 like world. They even mention the invention of words! That's a hint that we can't miss! Hopefully I'll be long gone before our world is like in 1984.

Like most schools, my student union has a "Wom*n's department". At their first committee meeting for the new school year, their rules stipulated that everyone had to introduce themselves and their preferred pronouns. You'd think that it would defeat the purpose of being on the "Wom*ns" department's committee if someone wasn't using female pronouns. It's a crazy world we live in.

I am kicking myself for not actually taking a picture of it... but there's two posters in my school that are dedicated to all different genders and trans stuff. There's even a human/ unicorn on it. This stuff is actually taken seriously. Seriously. It reminds me of when I was a kid and we'd pretend we're some kind of heroic person with different titles and powers. Some kids don't stop playing make believe and role playing games in real life. It continues into adulthood where identities can be more 'fluid'. This stuff boggles my mind.

On a serious note, if the university of Toronto is promoting this Gender Diversity crap in the form of political correctness, then such ideas will be exported worldwide because many Toronto post-secondary colleges have partnerships with many universities in other countries. Even small colleges like Seneca College have partnerships and program transfers with colleges in the United States, China, India, Saudi Arabia, etc.
