Mess with Assad and Iran and your going to have to fight Russia, at least diplomatically. The White House is totally out of touch with their foreign policy and world opinion. I picked a hell of a time to enlist.

Yemen is about to go into meltdown, Egypt is going into meltdown in certain areas, we're leaving Afghanistan, Iraq is pretty much done, Libya is a failing state, Syria is an absolute hell hole on Earth, Iran is waging proxy war to prevent massacres by its enemies on other states;


And the congress of the USA wants to plant its collective foot up the ME's arse again by initiating another large-scale ground war and it wants to get rid of Assad "because he is bad".

This does not take into account the EU coming storm over economics and the Russian-Ukraine problem.

Are the US hawks this delusional or are they acting as rational human beings? How can this be allowed to continue? Where are the checks and balances?

My vote is against using ground forces. More drones, more bombs. I'll pay a hefty war tax to keep them living underground permanently.

It comes down to two things: money and momentum.
To a man with a hammer everything looks like a nail...so there is a natural tendency for the USA to look for military solutions as the primary option = momentum.
Also, the money is there. As Eisenhower foresaw, vast economic interests are not at stake in war, and create an incentive.

However, the veracity of this story has been brought into question.
