Economist cover art: Cryptic symbols and predictions for 2015
I enjoy reading The Economist on occasion as do many others here. I'm also something of conspiracy theory enthusiast; even if theory ends up being bullshit, its' fun to read about.

However, here's a story about the cover art on the latest issue of The Economist. It's just bizarre and somewhat grotesque.

Here's a photo if you haven't seen it:

The author of this article deconstructs what he believes is the symbolism on the cover.

It's won't work if I copy and paste it because you need to see the images in the original for it to make sense, but here are come quick takeaways:

The two-faced globe in the upper right corner- represents a struggle between East and West (US & China?). A mushroom cloud and launching spacecraft are nearby.

The figure of the Pied Piper is seen in the lower left corner. He is standing over a confused child holding a toy plane. Leading people/the world astray?

A Panda, flexing its' muscles, wearing a little bannana-hammock with the Chinese flag on it. Represents the rise of China? Behind the Panda is a Plinko arcade machine with the word "PANIC" in large text and "Federal Reserve" among other words.

Two arrows lodged in the ground with the numbers "11.5" and "11.3" on them. Will something happen on those dates? The author thinks they are geographic coordinates pointing to Nigeria.

Thoughts? Is this Illuminati symbolism?

Oh yeah, forgot to mention- the Economist is owned by the Rothchilds.

No. No it's not illuminati symbolism.

I never jump in support of these conspiracy theories but if it pleases you to do so go ahead. As for me, I do not believe there is any hidden symbolism in The Economist's front cover.

A panda with impressive serratus is not exactly mysterious symbolism. The arrows marked 11.5 and 11.3, however, clearly mean something to their creator.

Dr Johnson rumbles with the RawGod. And lives to regret it.

This reminds me of the Beatles Sgt Pepper Cover.

The arrows seem related to Alice and the Cheshire Cat.

If only you knew how bad things really are.

Exodus 11:5

"And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the first born of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts."

and

Daniel 11:3: And a mighty king shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.

or

Zechariah 11:3: There is a voice of the howling of the shepherds; for their glory is spoiled: a voice of the roaring of young lions; for the pride of Jordan is spoiled.

The numbers rest upon what appear to be arrows or darts. Take a look at the Rothschild coat of arms. A fist clenches 5 arrows. There are 5 world leader in prominence on the front (Vladimir Putin, Angela Merkel, Barack Obama, Xi Jinping, and Narendra Modi).

I agree with his assessment of the globe... it is a representation of a global conflict. Explosions and signs of disaster loom in the background

The tortoise represents the Fabian society.

The painting of the woman on the lower right is by da Vinci. It is entitled "La belle ferronniere."

That's just what I got out of it. This was fun, even if it probably means nothing.

Who's the woman behind Angela Merkel with the weird headdress?

If only you knew how bad things really are.
