Just laugh. That's it. Show that you're a fun guy that lets jokes roll off his back. I can't see you doing anything else in that situation and NOT come off as insecure.

I would even take it a step further and compliment the guy on our way home. If he joked on me I'd say "fun night, _____ was hilarious. I can't believe he got on me! I feel honored haha." Or something else showing that you take no offense to what was said about you and that you weren't even taking him seriously.

You can't be Mr. Alpha Macho Pussy Slayer all the time. Just be chill. Besides, if there is even a hint that what the comedian said has affected your date - it says more about the girl than it does about you.

Honestly, if a guy like Bill Burr busted me up, I would love even the opportunity to "get in the ring with him." Not because I could "one-up" him or anything like that--think of it like fighting Mike Tyson. If you come out alive/respectable, that's a +1 for you. I'd enjoy the challenge of trying to go "toe-to-toe" with the best.

It's all about maintaining frame, whether it's with some punk-ass comedian (I'm assuming this wasn't a Bill Burr-type), or your buddies who give you a lot of shit. The best defense is a good offense--the sooner you learn how to be witty in these situations, the less you'll worry about what the random chick next to you thinks. There's always another one, after all.

If you're not so witty? Watch more stand up. Listen to more of your favorite comedian's podcasts. Go back and watch old Seinfeld eps. Work on honing your timing, and (not even consciously) deconstructing the various different types of jokes out there (agree and amplify, switcheroo, setting up expectations and subverting them, etc.). This is absolutely an acquired skill--in high school, I was clueless in this regard. Now, some 15 years later, after a good amount of "putting in the work," I'm the guy in the group that few others will jab at, since I always have something ready to go in response.

Will these semi-pro comedians be able to come over the top of you? Maybe. Maybe not. If so, who cares? Deal with it like anything else, with a sly "I'm fucking her anyway" smile and an "I'm cool with it" laugh. No need to pull her in closer. Attempts at projecting strength often come off as weakness.

It's the difference between projecting strength and actual strength. It all comes down to inner game and confidence. No need to hide in the shadows at the back of the club. Once you make the connection, you'll welcome the chance to spar with "the best."

Wittiness can be learnt only to a degree.

Going to a comedy club is great if your forte is comedy-level banter and a quick wit like Tuth's.

But for everyone else I don't think it's a good idea for a pre-bang date.

Agree and amplify is the best way to deal with a comedian's attacks - most guys can learn that quite easily and hold their own to a degree.

Katt Williams is a complicated guy, like any of the other elite comedians. He is very well known for his patriotism. At least I thought he was until that tirade stunned half of America.

I think comedy gives you an out to voice your red pill/controversial beliefs. I went to a comedy show in DC recently where a dude was making Holocaust jokes on stages (and no he wasn't Jewish) and people were laughing.

I think it's all about how you handle the situation.

As long as you don't react, you're fine.

You go in with a date, who you may or may not fuck that night for the first time. You don't have a silver tongue, but you are comfortable in your own skin. You have plenty of experience of women so it's not something you are insecure about. The girl next to you is a hottie, but you've banged more attractive girls than her before. This is key, as you are abundant. Most guys are not.

If you're not the wittiest guy with instant comebacks, just play it cool. Play along. Hell go along with it. Laugh because you are there to have a good time. If he comes up with an excellent joke against you instead of nervously looking down, just smile and reply 'nice man that was clever'.

The less you give a shit about trying to look good in front of your date, the better you do, and as we know that is not exclusive to this situation.

When you start to believe more and more you are kick-ass awesome fun guy on the inside, moments like these are not a problem.

Proper response to the fuck question would have been to accuse the girl of trying to get you drunk first so she could take advantage of you. Comedian can't help but run with that, and it's funny instead of just embarrassing.

Anyways, it was the wimpy guy's own fault.

It's okay to be a wimpy guy trying to date cute chicks (more power to him!), but if you haven't got the confidence and/or don't plan to drink enough to rise to the occaision, why in the world would you bring your date to a comedy show? Anyone who has been to one before or watched them on TV knows it's not unlikely to get heckled. At least sit in the very back instead of up near the front where it seems like you can take it.

I mean, we could banter all day about how he could have fielded the questions and spotlight, and he could obviously do himself some good working on being more sure of himself and quick-witted (these things take time). But the real problem was he put himself in a high-risk situation where he was out of his element on a very first date.

The comedian is your trained monkey and you are paying him to make you laugh.
The poor comedian spends every night of the week hanging out at the same shitty comedy clubs hoping to get a billing so he can repeat the same jokes that he is sick of telling.
He lives in fear of bombing, his happiness is based on the last set he did, he ego is frail and when he wakes up in the morning his first jealous thoughts are of Louis CK or Jerry Seinfeld.
The poor guy is not even doing it for the money, he is doing it for your approval.

When you go to a comedy club you should sit in front.
You are not afraid to be the center of attention because you are the best looking, best dressed, smartest most successful guy in that place.
You are there to laugh, you are a chill guy, you can laugh at yourself and you don't give a fuck about anything so you are not scared of the attention.
You will learn a bit about the girl you're with based on how she acts and which jokes she laughs at.
Chances are she will be scared and few things get that gina tingling like fear.

Сhicks are flakey these days, so it's not worth investing much time or money in first dates. The best venue for a first date is my place. The second best venue is a bar near my place which serves cheap drinks and has a sofa where I can sit side by side with a girl. A walk in a park in summer is ok too. Anything more than that has to be earned.

Quoted for accuracy. Of course, being any kind of pre-fuck date experience can be risky. However, having a girl laugh her ass off while drinking is not necessarily a bad thing.

I immediately thought of the Katt Williams ass-kicking on the Mexican guy in the crowd when I read this. Katt was up there making David Duke look like Obama with that rant yet the crowd was fully behind him.

With that being said, I wouldn't suggest a comedy show for a date anyhow (unless its a pro like Chris Rock, Katt Williams, or Dave Chapelle, and you better sit waaaay in the back for those guys). I've been to plenty and most of the comedy is substandard with the exception of a few gems. Plus you're taking away time to talk and actually connect with the girl, who may be on the fence as to whether you won her over or not. A better idea would be to get her back at your place and pop in Eddie Murphy's "Raw" with some drinks.

Great point. This is why you don't mess with comedians unless you're really good with words and at the same time they're not-so-good.

In most situations, your go-to approach is just to smile and laugh along.
