How much/how often do you read?
Just what it says, curious what people's habits are like as I want to read more.

I tend to have 3-5 books going at any point in the calendar, and I try to read 1-2 chapters of one of them every night before bed. That's about 15-40 pages in a sitting. I also will bang out a chapter if I'm chilling in the bathtub after a workout or a hard day at the office. Some weekends I hit the coffee shop or stay in and push for 1-2 hours, esp if I'm in striking distance of finishing something.

I've tried reading in the morning, but I'm not a morning person so I usually skip that and just catch more Z's.

I don't read particularly fast, I often get lost in thought and have to re-read sections which is frustrating.

RE: How much/how often do you read?
I've been on a personal quest of 2 books a week for a few years now.

I read fast so it works for me. I take the bus alot so most of my reading time is done there as well as in the evening after dinner/before bedtime.

I try to read at least an hour a day as a minimum. Somedays it's 4+.

I usually read 70-80 books in a year, but that depends a lot on book length and difficulty. I don't like to set yearly goals because then I find myself looking for shorter reads.

I miss having to commute by subway for this reason. It was nice to have a period set aside to read everyday. My new commute is a three minute walk though, so I guess I shouldn't complain.

RE: How much/how often do you read?
I don't make any special effort to read, it's just part of my life and has been since I was in elementary school.

Reading is part of my nightly ritual and it's exceptionally rare for me to fall asleep without reading, so I read at least a little bit every day. Some days that's the only book/kindle reading I'll do, but other days I'll spend most of the day reading. Occasionally I'll read a novel straight through.

On average I'd say I get through two normal-length novels a week these days. I'll be reading a lot more when I start working full time again, because that's all there is to do when I'm waiting for other people to make my job possible.

I try to read several hours a week. I was doing multiple books at a time but found that I wasn't really retaining much of the information. So I am going to cut it back to one at a time. Plow through and finish it before starting a new one.

RE: How much/how often do you read?
I read a few hours a day, especially before bed. I have a job that leaves me with a lot of free time, so I will fire up the Kindle app on my phone and read until I get busy. This way, I have read and finished 21 books in the last 3-4 months. I'm constantly on the hunt for new books. I can typically take a 200-300 page book in about 5-6 days.

I don't read in my spare time. When I take the train or am waiting for something to start is usually when I do.

Usually 2 or 3 books per month. Not including books I have for reference purposes, which I'll often skim through just to learn some new shit.

RE: How much/how often do you read?
I read about 3-4 books per month.

I concurrently read one fiction/biographical book (before bed), one non-fiction book, and one e-book I'll read on my phone. Though this past year I've been saving articles to read on my phone instead.

Some days I'll read 10-15 pages, and other days 40-50 pages, it all depends on how busy my schedule is.

I go through phases.

Some weeks I can read 3-4 books cover to cover; other weeks I don't touch a book at all.

There are few pleasures in the world greater than reading a stimulating book though.

Used to not read at all unless it was for school. Now I read about a book a week. Wish I had started earlier...did not realize that reading is essential to a man im the same way that working out is.

RE: How much/how often do you read?
Some books are just for fun whereas others are more intellectually challenging and require a deeper interaction with the text. So, reading an x number of books during a certain period doesn't immediately translate into intellectual or spiritual growth.

That said, reference books can be skimmed through and read in no particular order at times. On the other hand, books that are stimulating many times require that you revisit them after you have attained a greater level of intellectual maturity.

I think reading three or four books of different genres a week would keep your mind alert while being entertaining at the same time.

Make every day count.

30 minutes a day. Easy enough to hit, and I read fast so I don't need to read 3 hours a day or anything.
