Just started a new semester in college and im very new to game. Lately ive been striking up conversations in classes but yielding no real results. there literally is not one girl not on her cellphone ( not an exaggeration! ) before class. some girls are even keen on having a laptop open and texting on their phone. Casual conversations fall flat very fast. Anyone have any recommendations? i almost feel like going direct is the only solution. Atleast going direct for a phone number, i could try some text game as it seems like thats the only way to get into their head.

If a girl is on her phone when I start talking and doesn't get off it I usually say something like

"Wow, you must be reading something reaaalllyy interesting. Show me." which will then tell me how to proceed. If they don't show you or put it down it's time to move on.

I suggest you try direct game approach with as many chicks as possible, and if they continue to act uninterested maybe you could suggest a video chat with a chick or such.
Bitches got to give you their attention, maybe you could suggest going to buy her a drink or something, if it finally works with the chick good, if not the next one and so.
Don't put too much weight on it, I'd say, just go with the flow, and see what happens.

Just say something attention-grabbing like furiously whispering "Oh fuck, someone just stabbed the professor!" in a rush. Then just say "I'm kidding." Then introduce yourself. At this point the girl is either hooked, or really will absolutely not get off her phone and you bow out.

If she's just boredom-browsing Youtube or Instagram (not in the process of physically texting in a real-time exchange) it'll probably work.

I read a brilliant one here once about just taking it out of her hand and saying words to the effect of "I'm sorry ma'am but this venue operates a strictly no smartphone policy". I'm gagging to give this a shot one day.

whatever you do stay away from going around your college opening girl in a direct way or hitting on them from the get go. girls will gossip and you will get bad rep. there is a lot you can talk about

as for their stuff ignore it at first and talk to them normally. don't draw attention to their gadgets from the get go. focus their attention by engaging them in the conversation. don't demand them to put their stuff away etc.
