Unlike Medellin, I never found a decent hotel in the 50.000-60.000 range in Cali for whatever reason they were all 90.000-120.000. I did find a decent spot on Airbnb and can hook you up with the contact via PM, they speak reasonable English. Cali is less developed and not as nice as Medellin, its also a bit rougher but nothing too crazy, your value as a foreigner is higher there and most guys have better luck with the girls there than in Medellin. The night life isn't as diverse and is more salsa focused than Medellin, which has a huge reggaeton scene. The salsa clubs to hit up are La Topa on Monday, Tin Tin Deo's on Thursday and basically any club that plays music on the weekend will be playing salsa.

Hit up Granada, Parque del Perro, San Antonio, Chipichape mall, all in the north and all within walking distance, (its about an hour walk to hit them all up) and also hit up Ciudad Jardin mall and Menga the late night party spot (2-5am). You can do all of that in 2-3 days, I would recommend taking a bus 3 hours to the coffee zone to switch things up (Salento, Pereira, Manizales) and chill there for 2-3 days as well, its my favourite area in the entire country.

No, I could understand if he's talking about guys in Poblado who stay in hostels, dress like shit and try to hit on estrata 5/6 girls but anyone who has spent more than a few minutes on here searching the threads would know that's not realistic anyway.

Its already well established on here and has been said time and time again that night clubs aren't the best place to meet single women in Colombia, Roosh has been saying that since 09'. Bogota is a bit of a different story though as ONSs are more common there, its also the best place to meet richer girls who aren't into foreigners for the money. This guy sounds more like a jealous Colombian hater than someone who is trying to give honest advice.

It depends, it's long enough for you to get to know the city, to realize that it's very livable and quite safe, with at least two nice, clean, modern and fun barrios (Poblado, Laureles)... enough to understand that the weather - though changing and sometimes rainy - is nice, not Rio-perfect but nice... enough to see for yourself that food is good, diverse and not expensive, and that Medellin women are usually slim and quite cute (but not naive, used to having male foreigners gaming them)...

For quality hosting in Poblado, 60 USD is a normal airbnb price, yes... Contact me by PM if you want middle-quality accommodation for 25 USD per day.

Food can be very cheap, if you go to small places where locals eat, like Ejecutivo menu for as low as 8000 pesos.

But to find a high quality beautiful paisa, for more than a ONS, you'd need to live here at least one month and thus obtain and build social circle proofs... unless you're a very good salsa dancer, in this case night-game should be enough for you to score high.

I would say you should shoot for at least two weeks. The last time I went to Colombia, I went for about two weeks and early in my trip, got about the sickest I have ever been. It basically killed my first week, but my second week there was great. If you go to pretty much any city which is completely new to you, you will need at least a few days to get used to the layout of the city and how things work there.

No, it's not. I was confused about some of the things in this thread at first because I wrote it over a year ago and I've been to Cali and other cities several times since then and much has changed, but anyway, it doesn't matter what country you post about, how many pics you post up, or what stories you tell, guys are always going to complain about how hard it is. In a way, it's good, because it keeps people out -- more chicks for us. But guys expect Colombia to be like Philippines and you can just show up white and have chicks jump on your dick but that's not how things work here.

No, it's not. I think a lot of guys, not so much experienced guys here on the forum, but guys new to Colombia or game, they have really unrealistic expectations about Colombia. It was never some white god factor destination, thats not why so many guys enjoy Colombia. Colombian men are worthy competitors. You need to be on top of your shit. The reason to go is to be rewarded with better quality for the same effort you would get less in return for elsewhere.

Compound those unrealistic expectations many guys have with the fact that Medellin and elsewhere has an ever increasing population of generally clueless, inept gringos doing you no favors, increasing housing costs etc and you have many guys coming back disappointed and wondering what all the fuss is about.

You have to go in understanding what your advantages really are, where best to apply them and in what way, and be willing to put in the effort. If your plan is only to just show up and whip out your white cock wrapped in greenbacks you're going to struggle. (except with prepagos).

Not talking about forum guys with this one..... In my 3 1/2 weeks in Colombia.. I'd say 95-99 percent of the "gringos" in Colombia were not dressed very well......I'm not sure why they think they can do that...but they do...

It's similar in Thailand as well. Do longer term expats start going for the whiter/higher status Colombian girls after living there a while?

Most guys in BKK will bang tons of the stereotypical dark skin, wide nosed Isaan girls and other lower quality girls because they look good to us and we don't really know any better. They are also usually easier and more aggressive.

Though after staying long term *most* guys gravitate more towards the lighter skinned (or at least not dark) Thai girls with better educations and more money.

Rio if it does happen its likely because the gringo doesn't want to deal with the inevitable drama of dating a lower class girl. I found the true upper class girls or Gomelas in Cali and Bogota to be very pleasant to hang out with, its the estrato 3/4 girls who think that have something to prove who I find the most annoying. I was in Cali for about a week, not so many "backpackers" but more people passing through for the day coming from Popayan or something. The people I met that were in Cali longer term were usually there specifically for salsa, usually taking lessons at a school.

The central area of Cali is pretty shady but the Parque El perro area seemed safe and was pretty lively on most nights.

Most gringos I saw in clubs were poorly dressed, not only just under dressed for a club but payless shoes style white runners, something that looks like it should be velcro instead of laces. You must not have spent much time in barrio San Antonio then, that's where most of the hostels are and where you'll see them. Its a completely different scene than Parque Lleras, its a quaint colonial section of the city with a nice park on a hill with a great view of the city. I go there for lunch or coffee during the day but rarely at night unless I want to go smoke dope with a chick because there isn't too much to do there, which is ok since the backpackers tend to just hang out there and keep to themselves.

Ah yes, the Gringo salsa scene, I got into it a bit last year but kinda went about it the wrong way as I didn't go to an academy, I took private lessons from a chick at a hostel, which was fine but I didn't meet many other foreign students and later learned that they are a bit clique-ish. Basically they all go to academies during the week and then go out dancing at night, here's the spots:

Monday: La Topa Tolandra, they have a Gringo Tuesday style language exchange which is lame from 5-9 then things pick up and go on til about 1am.

Tuesday: It was at las Brisas de la Sexta but they moved it to a place in Parque del Perro, I forget the name of the place but both nights are organized by a cool Israeli guy named Avi.

Thursday: Tin Tin Deo's, this is the best night and that place is great.

Weekends: Basically anywhere but lots of people at Parque del Perro, La Sexta and Granada in the early evening before heading to the late night spots of Menga or Juanchito (don't go there alone)

Foreign salsa students are overall pretty cool but some can be a bit pretentious, they aren't nearly as annoying as backpackers and at least show respect for the locals culture by learning salsa (some are quite good) and usually speak Spanish well. I just found some of them to be a bit delusional, I've met foreigners who fall in love with Cali and the salsa scene and never want to leave, over staying their visas and spending all of their money for the love of dancing. The worst was this hot Finnish chick who was out every night of the week but was broke and I'm pretty sure ended up whoring herself out to keep the party going.
