It's funny how divided the forum can be regarding this type of situation.

There's really no need for violence against someone who is obviously weaker. They may seem like they deserve it but it screams insecurity when you have to "show" that strength through violence; it can be shown through frame and self control instead. I suppose frame has cultural components.

That being said, I would never hit my wife. There are other ways...

It would really help if there was an English translation. I feel I could better understand if the hit was called for. Granted she did come off as a cunt, but body slam + punch is excessive.

That being said, I disagree with a lot of people on here about the whole hitting a woman thing, I've always felt it to be disingenuous: it's always based on the perspective that men should tolerate a level of disrespect from women that they wouldn't tolerate from men - since the general rule of thumb is you shouldn't hit anyone who doesn't deserve it. If Kevin Hart insulted Shaquille Oneal, and Shaq punched him in the face, few would say he shouldn't have done so, even though the gap in strength is far more significant than it is between the avg man and avg woman.

There was a time when people didn't even bother hitting you, if you disrespected them, they either challenged you to a duel or you got shot right there on the spot. Being civilized is indeed an ideal, but taking it for granted isn't wise: there's no guarantee that physical strength will come with greater self-discipline.

The forum is divided because there are level headed guys around here that maintain frame, improve their game, travel, make money and are secure with themselves, ect/
Then there are guys that have been burned in one way or another and truly have as dark spot that manifest in true misogyny. Not the feminist "her hurt me feelings" version.
But the type, where some people have a odd disdain for women and really hate them. (maybe they can't get laid,got cheated on or rejected a lot..who knows.)

Sometimes a lizard needs to know their place. There are repercussions for actions as someone put it. If a man can get his ass beat for fcuking with another man much larger and apparently stronger than him, why should a lizard get excused?

They need to realise that they are the weaker sex. If she is sitting there minding her business and he just attacks her, then fcuk him, he should get a group stomp out by all white knights or whatever you want to call whoever partake in his stomping.

But if she antagonises someone superior in strength, then she's dumb and should not be excused.

Regardless of what people feel about it, this sort of violence is essential to keep women on good behavior. They are like children who will push until you stop them. Of course the Russian didn't need to use as much force as he did, but an over-reaction here and there from men will inspire fear into average women making it easier for the average man.

Maybe this one man over-reacted. But the fact remains that it was broadcast to millions of viewers, many of whom are woman, who will now reconsider taking up a cunty attitude and disrespecting a man so publicly.

That this woman took a punch and a body slam means that millions of woman will be saved from so much as a hand to the face by learning from her poor example.

Had the man done nothing - those millions of women, emboldened by seeing such a weak reaction, might be even worse to the men in their lives, resulting in several easily preventable deaths from provoking men who have even less impulse control than the one on tv (what do you think would have happened were there no cameras in this situation?).

For the sake of argument, lets say that the girl caused offense that if she were a man, would have received the same response, and no one would have batted an eye, seeing as men almost universally agree that a weaker man who provokes a much stronger adversary, deserves his beat down.

For those who have said that the man should not have used his strength to subdue his opponent who was insulting him repeatedly, because she is a woman, you are arguing that women are not to be allowed into the arena of competitive endeavors, that due to their being women, special rules should account for them that are separate than rules for men.

If you take the argument to its logical conclusion, you are arguing that women should not vote, seeing how politics is competitive and involves issues of violence, of which women, in your view, should be kept from engaging in.

I think its funny because the guys saying women should not be subjected to beat downs the same way weaker men would be for similar offenses, I think are also guys who support women voting.

Women are needed for a man to be truly happy, but if they insist on competing with men, I fully support what this man did. If more men were as brutal with insolent women as the guy in the video, do you realize how quick their behavior would turn?

In my last relationship, with a cute American, she went full psycho, but if I had society at my back, and went Russian beatdown on her ass, I think it would have benefited her greatly. It's the complete lack of a beat down as even a remote possibility that has contributed to American women's shitty behavior. It's more her loss than mine, which, is the funny thing considering the guys here acting like their position of being so anti-hitting a woman are more pro woman than the misogynist guys here saying she deserved it. In this particular case I'd say its unfortunate, but she brought it on herself, and it already makes the guy look weak for having to resort to violence on national T.V. so, I wouldn't support punishing him further.

Bullshit. For the longest time in American laws, if someone talked shit you were allowed legally to beat their ass. It was called "fighting words," and if someone used fighting words then the man who used violence against the fighting words was legally protected in the laws as self-defense.

That is why, words such as "shit, fuck, cunt, piss, asshole, bastard," were words that you couldn't say in public or on TV. These words would incite people to violence and the laws protected those who used the violence to keep the dirty language out of public.

We are talking about men vs women. Not men vs. men. A skinny man has no excuse. He has enough testosterone and muscle density to absorb most blows, unless he is beyond pathetic. We are talking about women here. They have 40% of the bone density we have and almost none of the muscle fiber density. They are not much stronger than a male child.

She didn't even hit him with that high heeled shoe like ghetto hoodrats would have done. I wouldn't say shit if that was the case, but she did not even present an actual threat to his physical well being, yet he slammed her like a rag doll and still punched her when she was already knocked out cold. This guy is an uncivilized brute. Period.

Exactly. The guy's just as much as cunt if not more a cunt than the girl for NOT having the proper frame control, verbal control and wits to have to resort to pushing a girl (or anyone) down and hitting her because he didn't get his way. We aren't animals; we are modern humans who elevate the mind and conversation over physicality.

While there's a time & place for violence (personally, I believe it's self-defense or theft of personal property), but on a conversational game show that is about wits it is not the time or place.

BTW, I don't condone what he did. If a woman hits me I'm taking her to court for battery or assault. Just that there are some cultures out there where a man doesn't see anything wrong with putting his paws on a woman. I remember a woman from Iraq who moved here. Her husband and sons-in-laws all beat their wives. A man who I knew (an Egyptian/Palestinian) spoke with one of her sons in law about beating his wife. It went down like this:

Iraqi: sometimes a woman needs a beating.

I thought dude was insane. The mother's husband actually fled after he beat her up pretty badly once. She's no longer with guy and claims American over Iraqi every day of the week.

Even just being thrown on the ground the way he did it might have been ok. What he did after (hitting her face while she was down) wasn't right.

That's what I'm saying. Unless I'm mistaken she didn't even hit him with it apart from playing around by touching him with it a few times. If she actually had hit him with it then it would have been justified.

I think discussions of whether "it's okay" to beat women are pointless.

It's a false dichotomy that doesn't take into account context. Life is neither a true or false question nor a multiple choice quiz. It's not black and white, it's that, shades of grey, and everything in between.

You might as well discuss whether it is okay to kill. Most people's initial reaction is to say, "No! Of course not!". But that presupposes that the dead person was undeserving of an untimely death.

That is why we have words like "murder" and "manslaughter". The context matters. If a man breaks into your house, slashes your daughter's throat, shoots your son in the head, and then walks into your bed room eyeing up your wife with a predatory grin - will you use your words and logic to dissuade him from coming closer because "murder" is wrong? Or will you speak a short sentence punctuated by two short blasts from your .45? I exaggerate to make the point of course, and the decision to make in the hypothetical scenario I laid out is an easy call. But the point still stands. The word "beat" has the connotation of violent and criminal intent, as if the man beating the women does it because he likes it or something. "Hit", is a more neutral, which suggest the person being hit did something to provoke it. Perhaps the best word yet is to use to word "strike".

If a woman is trash talking a man, provoking him, needling him with words, as women are wont to do (and skilled at it to), she must at least accept that there are consequences, rightly or wrongly. That the woman is much weaker than the man excuses neither the man for his overreaction nor the women for provoking her own downfall. Reality will remind you of its existence if you ignore it for too long.

That being said, do not accuse me of condoning that man's actions. Having seen the appropriate part of the video, I think an open hand to the face would have sufficed - but that's neither here nor there.

So - is it okay to strike a woman? Only when she deserves it.
