Well if it is any consolation (and it rarely ever is...):

Bride - Cringingly mediocre Plain Jane who despite no extraordinary features of face or body, has an unearned superiority complex, who at the time needed to lose 15 but when I last saw her maybe a year later has gained about 30.

Maid of Honor - Extreme butterface; looked like a young Richard Gere.

Bridesmaid #1 - Rail-thin pasty white girl with acne, no tits or no ass.

Bridesmaid #2 - Girl who was 5'11 and at least 260. I had met her at school a few times, she was on the rowing team.

Bridesmaid #3 - The judgmental whale I was paired with.

I actually knew Bridesmaid #1 for quite a few years and she's a really nice girl; I wouldn't bang her ever but at least we could have shot the shit all night.

I knew all this heading in and seriously considered flaking on the wedding.

Whether it is weddings or just setting people up, women are terrifyingly horrible at matchmaking and should be legally barred from doing so.

The whole expectations thing can vary from wedding to wedding, but it is bizarre what weddings do to not just the bride, but to single women who are attending.

Regarding the upcoming wedding that I am going to, my friend and his fiancé are well aware of my nature, but I could easily see them pairing me up with a middle-aged spinster aunt of some sort. Funny thing is, I hooked him up with a super hot friend of my ex-gf a few years back during his single days. He blew it, but hey, I tried.

If they do match me with some sort of kaiju or old bag, I have a backup plan. She's one of those girls who has hot acquaintances for social status purposes, so I'll just move strongly on one of them. Their's is a destination wedding, so I'm planning on getting a suite of some sort. I think older guy who is in shape plus has a sweet room game is a good recipe for success.

Girls are posting this shit like crazy on my Facebook feed. There's some damaged ass girls out there fellas. Even the ones you think are good and stable are just waiting to let the crazy out. Keep relationships in the courtship phase where it's always fun and exciting and the sex is good and avoid anything that steers it towards marriage. There's nothing you can get from marriage that you can't get from a steady girlfriend.

All the posting about bridesmaids has made me articulate a couple thoughts I've had for awhile.

Women are not to be trusted when it comes to pairing. They will not help a man. They will try to help their lowest value friends. Any woman ever offering to hook you up with someone is not doing you a favor. YOU are the favor for some landwhale, because any woman of value does not need her friend's pity to get a date.

The other night.. I was flipping channels and the guy actually did a interview on some little pop culture tv show.
I don't know what it was called.
If i remember, the dude use to be a football player.. pretty big dude, not fat or anything.. just football player build. not bad looking at all.

He was real calm an collected over it.. he didnt really wanna make anyone look bad.

As funny as this thread is, and as ridiculous as those pics are, let's not pretend this guy isn't a piece of shit for doing this. He dated her for four years, proposed, then called it off less than a week before. I guess it's possible she totally let herself go leading up to the wedding and that's why he called it off, but there's nothing indicating that's the case. Hopefully he at least reimbursed the cost of the wedding, if not all the flights and hotel rooms.

He definitely dodged a bullet, but he should've dodged it much earlier. Nobody looks good in this one.

Agree, although I think it's not that she thinks the guy may be a chump, more that she doesn't think of the guy at all.

There's a whole lot of nonsense going on when a woman wants to set a man up, but what the man may be looking for has certainly nothing to do with it. Remember, any male expression of sexuality is considered misogynistic. If women could get away with it, we'd all be assigned a woman of their choosing, which is what they try to do when setting up their friends. Whether the guy may be interested is not even a part of the equation.

I take comfort in the knowledge that this happens to a lot of guys, so one can't take it personally. A couple of my friends who pick up young, attractive women nonstop have been set up with whales and barren ghouls before as well. Recently when I told one that I had just been out with a woman who had set me up, his first question was "why the fuck would you let a woman set you up?" We had a good laugh.
