How TV Ruined your life
Charlie Brooker one of my favorite media writers known for writing screen wipe, gameswipe, the weekly wipe, and Black Mirror(all very good and worth a watch. . .black mirror especially has some red pill elements in it) has a 6 part documentary:

Feel free to Check it out.:

RE: How TV Ruined your life
The video won't load for me, but when I moved to Cambodia for a year I watched almost no TV other than the occasional football match at a bar or with friends. It was one of the best things to ever happen to me. Now, when I go back to the USA, I literally watch no TV other than live sports or the news. I feel that is a good way for a man to be. I hate when people just want to sit around and watch TV, of course they also need to use their smart phones to check instagram and Facebook as well.

How valid is this statement nowadays? When people ask, "Have you seen XYZ TV show?" I tell them that I don't watch much TV. Much of this is due to 1) ease and availability of online alternatives and 2) disdain for TV commercials.

The only shows I watch with any frequency are South Park and The Walking Dead. Even DVR is obsolete since the advent of digital streaming.

I spent some of my vacation with my family and they kept the TV on to watch their ethnic programs (unavailable online). The relentless advertisements are draining. Now people can pick and choose what they want to see, and when.

When girls tout their Saturday night plans as being "PJs, ice cream & netflix," you know things have changed.

"The whole point of being alpha, is doing what the fuck you want.
That's why you see real life alphas without chicks. He's doing him.

Real alphas don't tend to have game. They don't tend to care about the emotional lives of the people around them."

Not sure if you're posting this seriously or in jest (the title is obviously somewhat humorous in its directness), but this is actually one of the most personally influential books I've ever read. Before reading this book many years ago I thought of watching television as simply a way to receive information and entertainment. I had no idea how powerful the medium actually is, and the ways in which television is utilized as a propaganda device. The reality is that even if you are watching television with a completely critical eye, you are still absorbing images and audio into your brain that is carefully selected and edited by the content producers to achieve a desired effect. Every time you turn on the television you are being subtly programmed on a subconscious level without your knowledge or consent. This goes not only for advertising, but for news and entertainment programs as well.

The audio-visual nature of television achieves what reading text or listening to radio cannot: the verisimilitude of reality itself. We see and hear things on television approximately like we do things that are directly in front of us. The difference is not large enough for our brains to differentiate between them. The result is that your brain subconsciously perceives everything on television as being part of reality, because you are flooding it with images and sounds that appear to be real to your senses. Of course, we rationally understand that much of what is on television is not real, but again, this really doesn't matter: your brain is being filled with sound and images that have the strong appearance of reality. By this mechanism, and through careful control of content and production techniques, television can be utilized as a means for brainwashing the public. The viewers (especially those who watch a lot of television) gradually begin to perceive reality and what they see on television as being one and the same.

For example, want to increase public acceptance of homosexuality? Just start cramming the airwaves with sympathetic and likeable portrayals of homosexuals on every show. Want to create rape hysteria? Start featuring a spate of crime shows and documentaries featuring dramatized accounts of rape. Want to push a feminist agenda and destroy the nuclear family? Portray every husband and father as a helpless, stupid, fat, pathetic buffoon and every wife as intelligent, attractive, ambitious and organized. Over time, these images begin to define reality in the minds of the mass viewing public.

If you value your independence of mind, it's best to watch as little television as possible.

"For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away. But the word of the Lord endureth forever.” - 1 Peter 1:24-25

RE: How TV Ruined your life
I stay away from TV as much as possible outside of some TV shows and sports. I avoid the news in particular; way too much negativity and fearmongering. I'm working on trying to curb my internet addiction but in the same vein it has helped me way more than television (you can't find RVF and learn game watching TV).

RE: How TV Ruined your life
I never watched much TV, except for the occasional vintage program I discovered that had wisdom beyond the medium. These programs are often slow and ponderous, but worth the effort to watch.

The obvious one is "The Twilight Zone." But I would also strongly recommend "Route 66," now running at 3 a.m. on MeTV. It's a dramatic series that tracks the journey of two guys as they take odd jobs while traveling across the country. The way they handle the people they meet and situations they find themselves in is very Red Pill, and something you don't see much on TV anymore -- quiet, assured masculinity without the cartoon heroics or pandering to women.

All that said, I never really thought about who watched TV until I got Facebook. It's all middle-aged women. They go insane posting about every ridiculous show you'd never watch, and they take them all very seriously.

The average TV program now seems to be aimed at a 54-year-old woman who is divorced with two kids. It's no wonder guys ages 18-36 can't relate to TV at all.

I can't remember the last time I watched TV. That said, there are so many other ways to waste your time, even reading too much news articles or RVF. Eliminating TV as a productivity hack only works if you don't replace it something else, and that is all too easy to do.

RE: How TV Ruined your life
How many who say they don't watch TV spend countless hours in front of their computer? Guilty as charged here.

I'm trying to change that now. Not easy with my work, but I want to find the point of balance.

Point taken. But there are some differences. On the computer, you're often interacting with people instead of having a corporate point of view being pushed on you.

Also, when you're online you can be doing a bunch of different things -- from reading politics to listening to odd radio stations -- and exposing yourself to areas TV would never touch (this forum is a prime example).

The downside is you're still dealing with an inanimate object in a sedentary way, not getting out an dealing with actual people. What depresses me is that years ago, shopping malls used to be teeming with beautiful women and now they're like ghost towns, so the downside of computers seems to be people boycotting society itself.

The same happened to me after I was homeless. I don't watch the news though. I'd rather read my state sponsored propaganda.

TV is terrible for you. All the television shows practice slave morality. This means that they glorify beta behavior in men. If you see any television show as a kid you'll see that they all promote the same message the woman is in charge and the man is a pathetic follower, who obeys anything she says.
