Sort of tangential, but arguably a reason for that was because Downey was still in comeback mode - I can't remember where I saw it, might've been right here on ROK come to think of it, but Downey was seriously unreliable as an actor before he got back up on Iron Man or a movie or two prior. Had clauses in his contracts to keep him from boozing and shooting up and so on. So it wouldn't have surprised me if Downey was getting paid less at that point in his career, mainly because Howard at least wasn't fucking himself up on drugs on the studio's time. Not defending Howard, his reasons for turning down Iron Man 2 always struck me as a bit childish even without knowing the full backstory to them, but anyway.

In passing, Downey has to be a pretty good advertisement for the fact men don't hit the Wall, or don't hit the Wall as hard. If anything I think he's looking better these days than he was when he was a kid, even allowing for the fact he spent the better part of a decade or so abusing himself:

If I remember correctly he said some shit on Twitter a couple years back about either black women being fat or about not being attracted to dark-skinned black women, one of the two. I'll have to look it up.

OK, in about 2 minutes of google-fu he's said and done a few things that have pissed black women off (even though it's basic common sense shit). Just google "Tyrese black women".

-"Independent black women" still need a man or they're gonna be single and lonely
- Fat women are nasty and have earned whatever problems they have (BW took that to mean he was talking about them)
- Not putting black women in one of his videos (said he only hired the best looking women, and no good looking black ones showed up)

I thought Don Cheadle sucked in Iron Man 2, in fact the whole movie sucked. The first Iron Man was great and Terrence Howard was much better for that role and the studio should've paid him more.

So what if he was hard to work with. I've worked with plenty of difficult assholes in my life, but if they are good at what they do I keep working with them because I want the best product possible. For example I had a bathroom remodeled a couple years ago and the guy who did it was very difficult to work with and abrasive but his price was very good and the quality of work was excellent. I will hire him again this year to do another bathroom.

The director got someone easier to work with and for less money but his product took a hit.....all because he wanted to have a nicer work environment? That type of thinking is beta on the director/studio's part.

The real War Machine in the comic books looks lot more like Don than Terrence. I like Terrence but before the first movie came out I thought he was too light skinned to play that role. That said, he is a better fit because he has that cocky swag and made it more entertaining. Don is better for all those serious and deep movies. Everytime I look at him I think of Crash and Hotel Rwanda.

Yea, I agree. Ed Norton is another guy who is reputed to be a huge dick on set and thus you barely see him in movies these days, which fucking blows because Ed Norton has better acting chops than 99% of Hollywood.

One thing that is conveniently not being discussed here is the negative and destructive force that a bad marriage can have on a mans life. Given all of the "it's inevitable" and "keeper" talk lately, I am not surprised.

This is not a case study in being difficult to work with, or whatever bad behavior du jour that many successful men are accused of, this is about how he fucked up his life by basically giving away everything he will ever be able earn or own to multiple wives and children.

His first wife probably built him up. It was probably volatile and for whatever reason they divorce. Thats common. Whats uncommon is continuing to do it over and over and over again. In my mind he is already Robin Williams, and that raw potential and talent is being buried month after month in writing checks, buying rings, planning weddings, taking trips, and all of the expectations of 10 or so women and children that now depend on this man for everything. And he set the bar very high, because he was exceptional, but giving himself away like he did surely sealed his fate. The added pressure probably began around IM1, and has only grown proportionally from then. Men like this probably believe they are "not a man" unless they "have a girl", and have to make bold proclamations to the world about having a woman in their life.

Quick update on Terrence:

The woman he was married to for one year ended up getting five years of settlement of money out of the marriage.

He claims he has her on tape extorting him because he has a little dick, again, huge "L" here on Terrence's part, he's making money from Empire, but he still has to sign his checks over to another woman, who then cuts checks to his other bitches.

The fact that this guy has gotten married again and impregnated his current wife is beyond me, here's to hoping he's not in other volume of this series.

Threads like this always remind that a man must seek growth in all areas or he'll be held up.

To use a bodybuilding analogy: think of the guy who spends 5 out of 7 days a week doing curls. He has impressive arms, but imagine how much more he could be if he treated the rest of his body the same way. He would have impressive everything, or at least better everything than he has now.

When I look at guys like Terrance Howard, I know he doesn't lack for work ethic, but it's baffling how poorly he's developed his ability to handle women. Imagine if he was more serious about himself?

Think about those guys with exceptional game, but they're caught up in a job they hate and their body isn't as nice as it should be. If only they had both.

This thread gets me thinking.
