I don't know if this questions qualifies as a shit test, I guess it depends on the context and delivery, but it is one hell of a good question.

I live in Denmark, the mother country of social circles, and flying solo is weird as fuck. On top of that, I don't drink alcohol due to some heavy meds, that get processed in my liver. If you were to describe Danes with "three" words, I would say, social circle, alcohol and bacon.

Anyway, the "where are your friends?" question, is something I dread when going out alone. I have done some thinking to come up with some suitable answers:

Where are your friends?

• Why, are you lonely?
• Get your own friends!
• Why is that important to you? Or Why, is that important to you?
• I guess we are not friends then!
  

If she keeps bugging me, with the risk of playing into her frame, I'd say something in the lines of:

"The only thing worse than a lonely guy at a bar, is the girl who talks to him, what might your friends not THINK of you?" *Smirk

"Yeah, I'm that lonely guy who stays at home playing World of Warcraft, or.. wait."

If you got a perfect response, I'd like to read it.

There isn't a need to totally deprecate yourself when using a response.

Some responses I think about are:
They're meeting me here
They just left
I'm DD
Brought my mom for her bday, she left, felt like staying around.
I'm a serial killer -smirk-
Where's your friends -change the subject-
