Monterrey vs Guadalajara
I'm Asian-American and trying to decide between Monterrey vs Guadalajara in Mexico for a ~5day long trip over Thanksgiving break. I plan to travel alone and don't know any Spanish other than what I learned in school years ago. I'm interested in Mexico since I'm in the US and it's closeby, and I've already traveled in Asia

Since my Spanish is so poor, do any of the girls in these cities speak conversational English? Or am I better off heading to Mexico City instead? I thought these two cities would be better for me as I could be more exotic to them, the girls are more attractive, and I'd get more of a novelty factor. I guess the only to know is to visit and find out. If I like the city, I could return to the US and devote alot more time and energy to learning Spanish and re-visit Mexico in the future

Anyone with insights, recommendations, tips, and ideas, please speak up. (And yes I've read the threads on Mexico, Monterrey, Guadalajara, DF, but I'm still unsure where to go

RE: Monterrey vs Guadalajara
Where in the US do you live? 5 days is a short period, letting us know where you're flying from helps a lot. I fly to Mexico City from Dallas and it's a 5 hour trip overall, and that's a non-stop flight.

Brush up on some spanish, try to learn some fast. MTY is somewhat related to the US culturally since it's close and there's a lot of MTY peeps that visit the border. Mexico City (MEX) has more english speakers overall and more girls, it's a numbers game.

Also, what kind of weather do you want? MEX right now is chilly (especially with its high altitude) while GDL is more mild.

RE: Monterrey vs Guadalajara
Mexico City is the most socially liberal and cosmopolitan and has the widest selection with 20 million people(biggest city in the world after Tokyo I believe). So obviously your targets are practically endless. I'd focus on Mexico City for your first trip. It'll be easiest there because of the more liberal climate, good logistics with metro and density and sheer number of people. I haven't been to Monterrey but I've been to Guadalajara and it feels more conservative and provincial than Mexico City. If 5 days is all you got, it's a no-brainer, Mexico City. Pipeline on Tinder.

In Guadalajara you might find blonde fresas who speak English,by Fresa i mean upper middle class and above.

Lots of rich/english speaking people among the chilangas too but i am not sure you would enjoy the place, the air there is literally heavy

RE: Monterrey vs Guadalajara
If its between Monterrey and Guadalajara for Thanksgiving, do Guadalajara.

If your options are open, its your first time in Mexico, and 5 days is all you got, try Mexico City.

If you want wingmen, PM me and ill connect you up with my people in either city. (Im in Monterrey at the time)

You can get by in any of those cities with just basic spanish. Learn some basic vocabulary and listen to some Pimsleur tapes before you get down and you are good to go. You can do it with no spanish of course, but your experience will be better if you can

Read the corresponding threads to scout for places to stay, do some daygame even if its not your regular thing, and make sure to pipeline at least 8 to 10 girls (at least) so you have a backup in case you strike out. (Or, pipeline and do regular game as backup, its up to you.)

Thanks for the replies. I thought Guadalajara and Monterrey would be better than Mexico City since I'd get more of an exotic and novelty factor? But I guess that doesn't mean much if the girls in Guadalajara and Monterrey are too conservative in that they aren't DTF, particularly with Asian guys

RE: Monterrey vs Guadalajara
Beautiful girls in both cities. However, Guadalajara is bit more conservative. Girls in GDL are concerned about keeping appearances(Very important). The thing that makes gaming hard in GDL, it is l cliquish. Once you are able to penetrate the click and get to know them, the tapatias are some of the best looking girls in Mexico. Girls in GDL will not get out of their way to talk to you.
If you do go, places to hangout:
Avenuda Chapultepec Not far from the US Embassy,
Avenuda Vallarta (many bars and restaurant)
La Minerva,
Lopez Mateo,
Plaza Del Sol (mall)
Galerias (mall),
Plazas Andares(Mall),
Plaza Magnum(mall).
There is an argentinian sandwich shop called Boca21 on Chapultepec. Nice place to chill saturday afternoons. On Saturday afternoons they close Chapultepec to traffic, only pedestrians. If you get a chance check out Mambo Cafe (Salsa Club) on Saturday night. Many single girls hang out in groups. Get in, sit at a table and get some cheap cervezas(beer). (You have to order drinks in order to have a table). Women there rarely reject an invitation to dance.
Looking for upper class? Providencia is the neighborhood. This is where Plaza Andares is located. Very nice looking girls.
Not sure why the OPs are telling you that Monterrey is conservative. Monterrey is not conservative. Las Regias (women of Nuevo leon) are also beautiful and friendly. Compared to the Tapatias, the women in MTY will be willing to talk to you on the street.
Places to hangout:
Barrio Antigua (French quarter like stream of bars) in downtown,
Morelos (Street in downtown) and good place for daygame.
Anywhere in Monterrey, you can daygame.
best area to stay is San Pedro(One of the richest per capita neighborhood in Latin America). You can hangout at Plaza Fiesta San Augustin. Upper class mall with shops and bars. You can stay Safi Hotel or Camino Real, both right in front of the mall.
In both cities you will have fun and enjoy your break. Ease of pull and friendliness, Monterrey has my vote. If you speak a little bit of spanish you will do well. Oh by the way, in both cities be classy in your look.
I hope this help.

Yeah I vote for Monterrey as well.

I co-sign KinTut's assessment, especially the San Pedro area in Monterrey.

Beautiful chicks, day game is easier in Monterrey and of course they are friendlier.

To me conservative is actually better because the women are friendlier and their bitch shields are very low. A more liberal city equals higher bitch-shields and colder girls. I'm not a big fan of Mexico City or Guadalajara when it comes to girls. Although the girls in Guadalajara are fly and the city is great, but I'm more of a guy who likes to explore cities aside the mainstream which is where you get your real value as a foreigner.

Go to Monterrey, you won't be disappointed.

So girls in Monterrey are friendlier than in DF and Guadalajara. Does that mean they are easier and you don't have to be in their social circles/cliques to date/meet them?

As for being more 'americanized', you mean they are bitchier? That's not a good thing

RE: Monterrey vs Guadalajara
I have notches from both cities and if I had to choose between the two, it would probably be a toss-up. If you plan on pipelining beforehand, Guadalaja probably gets the edge, because there seems to be more Guadalajara girls online and they seem much more likely to respond for some reason. If you're not doing any pipelining, go to Monterrey. The reason why I say that is that you don't speak much Spanish and you should find more English speakers in Monterrey, although lack of Spanish skills may hurt you in pretty much every part of Mexico. Make sure you post a trip report when you come back. I have a lot of trouble understanding other posters' posts on Mexico. Pretty much everything else on the forum makes perfect sense to me.

Girls in Monterrey are more friendlier from my observation and way hotter, so in that sense day game will be easier. In all three places you will need game. Out of the 3 the hardest one will be Guadalajara as Tut mentioned earlier, it can get cliquish. DF is good also because the city has 25 million people so it would be easy to find girls of your liking but the quality won't be as good as Monterrey.

I think what Bcien was referring to when he says that Monterrey is more "Americanized" was this:

[Image: n_tigres_primera_division_mexico-207284.jpg]

Monterrey represents the northern part of the country and in Mexico people have this idea that northern Mexico is "Americanized" because it imports many Texas culture like rodeo attire, cowboy attire. In fact, if you go to a Burger King in Monterrey, the "Texas Whopper" will be prevalent. That's what it means being "Americanized" and not in the sense of being brainwashed with feminism and all of that. People in Mexico City and Guadalajara will dog on people from northern Mexico because of that which is what Bcien is doing haha. Monterrey is still pretty much conservative and the women are friendly with low bitch shields and of course you will find girls who are DTF. Also Monterrey does not get as much foreigners like Guadalajara and DF, so you being Asian will give you value in Monterrey. Day game is king in Northern Mexico and that includes Monterrey.

Based on my experiences alone, I think Monterrey is the city for you.

Thanks for the explanation. So Monterrey being more 'Americanized' is not much of a bad thing. At this point, it looks like I'll head to Monterrey

One thing to keep in mind though and I'm only going off second hand information since I've only been to GDL and DF. But from what I hear, Monterrey is rather boring. Maybe if you're a local and have a social circle it's cool, but there's a reason it attracts almost no tourists. If you strike out with girls, sounds like there's pretty much nothing to do or see there. It's like the Mexican version of Phoenix. That's another reason I vouch for DF. If you have any other reason to travel other than 100% chasing women, there's endless shit to do and see in Mexico City. It's the "real" Mexico.

Monterrey is the most American city in the whole of Mexico

Not a bad thing is you are thinking of setting up a business in Mexico. It's a very business friendly city but there's not much to see or do.

If it's between those two cities, go to GDL.

That doesnt means much anywhere if you have no game. If you are planning on relying on your "exotic factor" you might as well stay home.

RE: Monterrey vs Guadalajara
My two cents:
I just recently returned from a 9 day trip to both Guadalajara and Monterrey. First and foremost the whole notion that girls in Guadalajara are the most beautiful in Mexico is a lie. Sure you'll see some HB 8-10s but it's not as common as everyone makes it seem and unless you are going to a night club where Fresas regular, a lot of the regular walking around chicks were sloppy tomatoes. In my personal opinion Monterrey had way WAY more attractive girls just walking around, and friendlier too. I have been to DF as well and yes more girls but to me it all depends on preference. I prefer my latinas with a little more curves(Monterrey) vs places like DF/GDL where you see pretty faces, slim/sloppy bodies. (before you haters come in, yes girls in DF/GDL have curves too, just saw more on average in Monterrey)

For Monterrey: San pedro is good, but near centro (Macro plaza) is a good area too as there is a strip of bars/clubs close by. I've walked around centro late night no problems but still be cautious as you are a foreigner. If you stay in SP, you'll be in the safest area in the entire city but isolated. I found things to do everyday I was there and there was always opportunities to meet women, practice your spanish, etc. I have a GF in DF + Monterrey and a side piece up in GDL, but will be returning to Monterrey this thanksgiving break, if you need a wingman just holler. I've made friends with locals and some Americans living down there for work/school who like to party/have a good time.
side note: I was on the Bus with my girl in DF and saw a short kind of chunky asian dude with a chica (7-8), so you will definitely get shown love in Mex!

I turns out that I'll have about 7 -8 days instead of 5. Is it feasible to perhaps visit both Monterrey and DF during that time?

It's feasible, but it makes little sense. The less time you spend in a city, especially a Latin American city, the tougher it will be. If you pick one city, pipeline beforehand, and go there with a complete strategy, you should be fine. If you are bouncing from city to city during the span of one week, you are just making it difficult for yourself.

A week is barely enough time to get acquainted with either city.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

DF has so much stuff that you can venture into a taco stand (5 with 1 drink for 3 dollars), museum or anything of your interest AND still game! Also, they have the most asians than either GDL or MTY, but then again all you need to get laid is game.

Bring your fuzzy hat. Ok, I'm joking on that one.

You don't really need much if any game in Mexico. As has been stated on other Mexico threads, chics there when they think you're cute will stare, they will flirt and they will act thirsty. There's none of that indirect shit like in Anglo countries where you have to banter and act aloof and play push/pull and neg and that bullshit. Just show up, look for girls that are eying you, have your logistics in order and you're money.

When you're black, white, etc in an Latin country you stand out. So of course you "don't need game" as much because you stand out.

Then again, game is the difference between this and this:

No game

Game

Also, OP...stay out of northeast Mexico City or you might encounter this pleasant crew.

RE: Monterrey vs Guadalajara
Agreed that five days is not a lot. If the weather was better I'd recommend Mexico City as it has a lot of stuff to do during the day tourist-wise and then the nightlife is good at night. But if it's rainy/cold season then it can be a bit dreary. GDL seemed more tame to me and not as much to see. It's much less international than DF. The girls are hotter in GDL though but you can find some legit places in Mexico City with good chicks. There are a lot of fats though in DF if you aren't careful but you can easily avoid them at night as they don't seem to go outside at night unlike American fats.

I don't know how being Asian American will play but overall I find girls in Mexico to be less racist and race conscious than in America. They probably' don't have as many stereotypes of Asians as the average American chick. And they are much nicer, but being nice to a guy who approaches you on the street does not necessarily mean she is interested in you. I remember in Mexico City that you could basically go up to any younger girl and talk to her in English and if she spoke English she'd at least talk back but it didn't mean she was necessarily down. It's a totally different vibe than from America. Group game is king and outward gaming chicks individually does not seem as common.
