I understand that this guy is a valuable scientist, and he looks like a cool guy...

But why would you give him a costly watch ( /thread-42363-...#pid881743 )?? He is already very rich no doubt, plus, you want to give him the watch for what exactly? For being an outstanding rocket scientist, ok, fine with that... but, is it for breaking, crumbling and crying at the first (ridiculous) attack from a low-level enemy (the nobody unknown feminist bitch)??

He deserves a watch for being a crybaby? No, so I have a better idea : offer him a golden membership at RooshV ( /thread-32112.html ), so that he learns about red-pill and fighting back for men and society!

Because it's a nice gesture. I agree with it 100%. It's not about the money. It's about the massive show of support and to be able to say, "On behalf of humanity, thank you for your hard work. I thought this as soon as I saw the apology and didn't say anything because thought it may be far-fetched, but is it possible that the brilliant astrophysicist outplayed us all?

What would have happened if he told these idiots to go to hell? The feminists would have said "See?! Men are pigs! Holding us back rah rah rah". He'd have his ego, and the noise would have died down and life would have gone on. By acquiescing, and not only that but looking (was actually?) very hurt to the point of tears, he took all the wind out of their sails "you were right, I was wrong, I only landed a probe on a comet, but am less of a person where it counts than you". They have zero legs to stand on, and there's nothing they can say because he gave them what they wanted, and the rest of the saner population saw it 100% for what it was, and initiated the push-back we're seeing now.

By the way, it tells us a lot, if we compare the 2 cases:

1 The tall bouncer from Puerto Rico. The ghetto bitch goes after him because he wears a jacket that she does not like. He reacts by being patient and calm, then she goes too far and he slaps her real good. After that he gets jailed, but he doesn't break under pressure and actually will sue the city.

2 The university-educated scientist. A crazy feminist goes after him because he wears a bright shirt with chicks on it. He reacts (understandably afraid for his career, yes) by begging forgiveness and crying.

It tells us interesting things I think about who still has balls in the western world and who has been "castrated" by the media, PC-police and feminists... people with good office careers cannot fight back anymore...

It makes me reconsider the situation and this guy's actions... could it be a planned, brilliant act, intended to subtly turn the tables on feminism?? This is why I said his reaction was actually perfect. Instead of saying "fuck off whiny bitches" which would've given them more ammunition, he actually cried and made it so there's no way they can look like anything but vile bullies. It was perfect for the bigger story here.

There is definitely a groundswell of approval for him. I'd like to see this benefit him in the long run. Maybe he can use his 15 minutes of fame as a springboard to more success.

I don't think this will benefit Rose Eveleth. Because in most cases where feminists do stupid things and reap the rewards of book deals (or something), it's because they were doing something outlandish. She was doing the opposite -- being a prude -- and Americans tend to dislike people trying to restrict freedom of expression.

I don't see here getting more writing gigs from that, but I do see him becoming the toast of the lecture circuit.

Welfare creates massive disincentives to work (as do Disability payments, and even Unemployment benefits to a degree.)

GBI gives everyone enough to not starve and keep a roof over their head. Everyone includes the productive and employed people too, so everyone is getting the same benefit. They can still CHOOSE to sit on their asses, but if they're watching enough of their friends make big improvements in their quality of life with a little work, it get's easier and easier to decide to work. A LOT of these people can work, they just can no longer work in their chosen field (The construction guy that injures his back can now take desk job instead of collecting a check for the rest of his life).
