Priming
Answer the first two questions out loud. Then, blurt out the first thing that comes to mind for question 3.

1. What continent is Kenya in?

2. What are the two opposing colors in the game of chess?

3. Name any animal.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When asked to name an animal out of the blue, less than 1 percent of people will answer zebra. But roughly 20 percent of people answer zebra to sentence 3, and about 50 percent respond with an animal from Africa.

In other words, by directing your attention to Africa and the colors black and white, it is possible to manipulate your answer. As with comedy routines, this example offers two crucial insights about memory and the human mind that will be recurring themes in this book. First, knowledge is stored in an associative manner: related concepts (zebra/Africa, kilometers/miles) are linked to each other. Second, thinking of one concept somehow "spreads" to other related concepts, making them more likely to be recalled. Together, both these facts explain why thinking of Africa makes it more likely that "zebra" will pop into mind if you are next asked to think of any animal. This unconscious and automatic phenomenon is known as priming. And as one psychologist has put it "priming affects everything we do from the time we wake up until the time we go back to sleep; even then it may affect our dreams."

How can we take advantage of this mind trap?

RE: Priming
Given that Mystery was a magician, he used a lot of mentalism in his routines.

The easiest one was 3's and 7s

"do you believe in mind reading/esp/people have a connection"
"let's try something"

Q1- "think of a number between 1 and 4"

Are you thinking 3?

Okay
Q2 - how about this one, think of a number between 1 and 10

Are you thinking 7?

(3's and 7's are the most common #'s thought of)

@ that point, I usually go into it like this

If you guess 0 out of 2, "I guess mind reading doesn't work"
You get 1 out of 2, "maybe we' have a connection"
You get both, "we definitely have a connection"

Less "gimmicky" comes from understanding conversation and how people's minds work.

*look her up and down*
"You know what the say about a woman with big feet"
*pause*
*you look down at her shoes*
"What?""
"they buy big shoes...wait what did you think I was going to say"

9 times out of 10 she thinks you were going to get sexual, but you didn't. I usually follow it up with her being a perv, freak, creepy or a bad girl.

I'm pretty decent at looking like i'm aghast, and then slowly letting it crack that I'm not aghast, that I'm laughing at/with her.

This concept of letting your audience fill in the gap is the basis of a lot of jokes, gossips, intrigues, and magic tricks.

Very simple minded dudes will try these techniques to get the girl to think of dick, sex, et cetera. But that's typically telegraphing a whole lot more than you need to. It's not like you're going to make a chick subliminally think about sex and she jumps on your dick.

That whole Heywood JaBlowmie NLP stuff is ridiculously hard to pull off.

WIA

RE: Priming
Priming is something I've always been fascinated with. I've never really been able to make much use of it in social interactions, but Ross Jeffries does a lot of priming from what I recall. Using words like "groin" instead of "going" where there's plausible deniability, yet prime a woman to think of sex. How effective that is, I don't know, but he has his dedicated followers and maybe they'd be able to make use of priming techniques.

Right, WIA, I don't think you want it to be overt. Might need to make a list of words that sound sexual and use them more...see if we notice any priming effects.

RE: Priming
Personally I believe in priming but a lot of priming studies have a problem with replication. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Priming_(ps...#Criticism

There are also related phenomena like anchoring.
For example if you're buying something always be the first to offer and lowball it.

That said, Ross Jeffries is a joke. If you can use his stuff without playing yourself I would be amazed

Women do this more than men because their mind are more associative than men. We are more logical. This is the reason women love indirect conversation whereas men prefer direct conversation. It is the reason we tell a woman, let's go watch a movie instead of lets go have sex. She understands and prefers the allusion to sex without it being directly stated.

Women are better with understanding language and reading emotion then men (http://lesswrong.com/lw/j7/anchoring_and_adjustment) but cognitive biases like anchoring and priming seem to effect men and women equally. Anchoring is kind of like a subset of priming that is easier to quantify. Here is a good write-up http://lesswrong.com/lw/j7/anchoring_and_adjustment/

RE: Priming
@bigbait I am not sure about that when it comes to sex and relationships. For example, if you ask me to think about a glowing sunset, I think about a glowing sunset. I don't associate a glowing sunset with sex but women can and do because they project themselves onto a beach with that sunset and a man. Who buys romance novels? Not men. Who watch porn? Men. One requires imagination and associative thinking the other no thinking at all Smile

As a woman once explained to me: women want to be in the mystery men in the know Smile

I totally agree, it's just that that isn't what priming is. And cognitive biases like anchoring work very well on men, not just women

RE: Priming
"Priming" starts even before you open your mouth.

The way you look + the way you walk and talk will effect how people respond to you.

Working on your appearance is the best "primer".

I think appearance is important especially in America but I feel how you carry yourself and how you feel about yourself is even more important - your attitude. When I am in that zone I have found that it can more than compensate for however I am dressed but it doesn't work the other way around. If I go out feeling weak and unsure of myself but I am all dressed up I don't do very well.

Concur -- I've got plenty of reference experiences in yesterday's "not going anywhere" clothes, where state trumped "looks prep".

However, if state is so-so, knowing I look good or better helps greatly. (For me, lower state leads to thinking about state lowering).

RE: Priming
Ye, looking good can help you to feel better about yourself but it doesn't seem to translate into better success with women. Women seem to sense your internal state once you start interacting with them and ultimately that is what going determine how they react to you. This is the reason so many rich guys with their designer clothes and fancy cars fail miserably with women.

Whenever I am feeling less than 100% I rather take a number and try again another time. I never meet a woman if I am feeling particular weak mentally or emotionally unless I have to then I pump myself up by exercising and taking some supplements.

What's the cornerstone of your game?
If I understand correctly the point is to ask or do things that make her think of fucking you without directly saying it.

Like buying her sausage and eggs.
Asking what colour her panties are
Sexual innuendo making her blow a sausage like baloon.
Going to the zoo, watch animals fucking. Petting a snake.
Stroking a pussy cat.
Looking at pictures of flowers that look like vaginas.
Babies. Talk about them. Sex = babies.

Don't debate me.
