Melatonin
First, let me start off by saying that I absolutely love this stuff. I first got on to it when I worked night shifts at a gold mine. I used it for a few days switch from days to nights and visa versa.

Earlier this year, I sort of got into the habit of taking it everyday. I didn't really become dependent on it despite taking it daily for 6 months. During this time, I went out of town for a couple long weekends and didn't bring it with me and I slept just fine without it. Recently, I decided that I should probably stop taking it because I don't feel right taking something everyday. Without it, I'm still sleeping just fine but my quality of sleep isn't quite as good without.

Does anyone know if there are any long term tests regarding it's use? Is it something that is safe to take daily?

Thanks

RE: Melatonin
Don't think of it as just a natural sleeping pill. It signals to your body that it should be night time, and to start getting ready for sleep. There is nothing really wrong with taking it daily, but for some people if they don't have it they can't sleep. This is just mental.
Also, make sure you only take it at night or evening. Taking melatonin during the day can give you SAD and make you slightly depressed.

RE: Melatonin
Been taking 6mg every night for over a year. The only difference for me when I stop taking it is needing more sleep for the same effect.

IE on melatonin wake up naturally after 6 hours versus off I wake up in 9 hours.
