Buscemi is skinny fat, he has no muscle mass at all. I wouldn't consider him fit in any sense of the word.

Putting on muscle won't change his underlying facial structure, or anyone else's.

True, but he would look way more attractive with broad shoulders, muscular, a tan and a real Hollywood smile instead of his crooked teeth that he left intact for his ugly-guy parts. I've met ugly Players - we are not women where 80% of our attractiveness is face and 18% body fitness. But yeah - an unknown Buscemi could forget Tinder or online-dating and would have to do Daygame & Night Game in bars and streets.

RE: Does getting ripped change your face?
Kinda off topic, but is there any way to get a decent read on body fat without having to go to the doc and pay $? I used some calculator online and it gave me 18%, but googling a bit I don't look like 18% at all, more like 15% with less muscle.

@Bilbo, the way I see it, you are attractive if girls consistently tell you so (about 50% of girls you interact with). Thats a decent way to objectively gauge your look. You can be muscular OR handsome, but my wing is muscular AND handsome. Some people just have better facial features than other. Not lamenting anything, just saying. Those people are about 3-5% of the population so no big competition there. And we can easily get to the top 15% by getting jacked.

I've got a lot of compliments on my muscle already, both from guys and girls, but I've never get the "you are so handsome" type of compliment. I get a few "you are cute" but that make me feel like a puppy.

Also another big thing: girls immediately see a handsome face, but a muscular guy can't show his guns all the time. I only have slim and fitted clothing and have gone to extra length to slim down even my jackets, but come winter all those layers of clothes will hide your muscle away. I remember getting eyefucked a few times this summer wearing a tank top.

There are calipers, but in truth the actual percentage doesn't matter. All you need to do is look in the mirror, and you know if you need to lose fat or not. (You can take pictures for comparison over time.)

You could post pics on the Lyle McDonald forum and get some decent % guesses from the people there.

If only you knew how bad things really are.

So you're telling me that you think Steve Buscemi fits the definition of "fit and lean"? Because I'm only talking about guys who are fit and lean, not guys who are skinny-fat with no fitness whatsoever. So I don't understand why you are using him as an example unless you think he meets that criteria.

Though I'll give it to you that there are probably a very small percentage of men with deformities and fucked up faces who will not be handsome no matter what they do.

I'll backtrack and say I've never seen a guy in real life who was fit and lean, which for me means solid muscle mass and a six pack or close to it, who wasn't handsome.

I've seen lots of ugly big dudes, and ugly skinny dudes, but not any ugly fit and lean dudes.

RE: Does getting ripped change your face?
Unfortunately for me I think my face looks best when at about 185-190lbs but my body looks best at 175 lbs.

Im at 182 now, feel I'm within striking distance of really visible abs, but don't want to get more cut. A better looking face has more value than a six pack.

I have to say a six pack does have currency in one place..online; My friend has a model physique and kills it on tinder. Shit girls text him I can't believe....

I used him as an example because he's famous for being ugly (first guy off the top of my head) and he's not fat, like I said him putting on muscle won't make him handsome. It sounds like you're saying that if an ugly guy gets shredded somehow the skeletal structure of his face changes to make him more handsome, and I think you're underestimating how many ugly guys there are out there. You're born with the face you've got under all the fat and nothing short of plastic surgery can change that, putting on muscle certainly won't.

Buscemi wasn't always a bad looking guy - he found his niche as an odd ball and played it up. Not a great example.

Wow, that thread on bodybuilding.com is absolutely ridiculous. No one has a right to complain about average or below average looks until they've cut down to <10% body fat. Guys are going from ugly to way above average.

Yep, that is one crazy thread, though of course a lot of them also got better haircuts and I suspect some photoshopping going on and professional photographer.

I'm inspired for sure. Anyone up for a end of year friendly competition cut?

Yes, please. I need the motivation. I'm probably at about 20% right now.

RE: Does getting ripped change your face?
I'm at the point where I have a faintly visible 6 pack, but the fat on my cheeks hasn't moved. I think I'm going to have to really start experimenting with cutting sodium way down, cutting carbs way down, and whatever else to lower my bf% more (I'd guess I'm in the 12-15 range right now). I've been leaner years past and had that lean face look, for some gay reason my body likes to store the last bit of fat right on my face.

^^
Cutting sodium won't lower your body fat. I wouldn't cut sodium too low.
Your body likes being in homeostasis - balance. Cutting sodium will make you look a bit leaner in the short term,
but it will just rebound eventually no matter what you do. Also, sodium is pretty important for a variety of functions, especially if you work out and sweat a decent amount.
If you want to lean out, check your calories, carbs, sleep, etc. Theres tons of info on here. But cutting sodium won't lead to a long term sustainable leaner look.

These are the craziest transformations I've ever seen! I think at least 60% of the AFTER transformations can legitimately go into looks-based industries like acting and modeling. Who knew there were so many chiseled jawlines hiding underneath so much blubber.

Going to the gym now.

You could buy a handheld device called a body fat analyzer. It works by running small amounts of electricity through your body to calculate how much fat is in your body.

Get a set of these http://www.amazon.com/Accu-Measure-Fitne...000G7YW74/.

Used properly it's as accurate as you can get without getting a DEXA scan. And as with any bodyfat test besides DEXA the trend is more important than the number.

Even cheaper is to just take your waist measurement and use a calculator like this one http://home.fuse.net/clymer/bmi/. I've found it agrees pretty accurately with the measurements I take using the calipers and my body impedance analyzer.

I'd like the world to note this response to the thread was to head to the gym, NOT demand that BB feature more plus size models.

Incidentally, that thread is full of win. Props to everyone featured there.

RE: Does getting ripped change your face?
I'm watching what I eat with regards to sugar and carbs now more than ever. I know it will enhance features in the face region which will increase my success based on looks alone. It doesn't hurt.

Right now I have noticed that although my face, jawline and neck is defined with muscle, it has taken on fat and made it seem like my face is softer than it actually is. It lacks the true definition you see in the pictures of that BB.com thread.

Sugar and carbs are the devil if you want single digit bodyfat.

Yes low bodyfat is a huge part of facial aesthetics and that BB.com thread is inspiring. Good Bone Structure + Low Bodyfat + Good Haircut = Being "Handsome".

... just cutting carb for three days will change your face. You'll drop water bloating and look immediately leaner. Just try eating pizza and rice for three days, observe face... then meat/veg/fat for 3 days, observe face.

That thread is pure inspiration too. Fuck pizza!!
