I would like to bump this thread because it's happening to me several times a month now and I've lost girls just standing my ground, and by using some of the methods here.

Right now, there's this super hot bimbo I asked out, but she just asked for my Instagram and it's like she wants to see if I have 30 000 (and have value as a human being in her eyes).

Now, I'm thinking about responding this to her:

Of course. Wait and see what her reaction is. I think the most important thing here is to set up a date ASAP, so that you can meet her in person and game her.

You generally can't charm that type of girls (hot, dumb IG queens) over textgame - MAYBE, if she's really slutty, you'll be able to sexualise it via Snapchat, but just maybe. Otherwise, they grow bored, such chicks aren't really up for any kind of intellectual discourse... they lose interest pretty quickly, even if you're dragging out just pure logistics via texting.

To conclude, I agree with your view on the fact that she's trying to validate you over whether you have IG with 15 million followers - since you, as a self respecting man, don't - the best option is to quickly spark her interest by being cocky/alpha/etc. (like you did) and take her out on a date. Actually, it appeals to me that it's the only option with reasonable chance of success.

The only definite value I get from IG is knowing which photos are my best ones to use for tinder. It's also useful because sometimes girls forget what you look like so they review your pics and keep the lead 'warmer'.

80% of girls I hookup with though I feel like the gram was not necessary. So I try not to let it suck up too much time.

Yeah, this chick flaked in the end now. I suppose she wanted the Instagram to better see my height too cause when I didn't give it, she asked about it and I've experienced that twice before. She looked pretty tall and I'm 5'9, by the way. If I had some really pimped up online profile she would have probably seen me anyway though.

Never mind, I have a couple of other upcoming dates with hot (and some taller) girls that actually showed some personality too, guess it's part of the game to get flaked sometimes.

Sure, I'm trying. But it takes time to "beef up" profiles online. Unless you buy fake followers (which can be revealed) it's not done overnight, it takes time. Meanwhile I guess you have to try and handle these situations as best as you can.

I give them my account info and say "send me a DM so I remember you" before leaving.

Doing this I get around 50% of the girl meeting me again.

First, let's recognize this question for what it is, a shit test. And just like any shit test. There's more than one way to pass it. She holds a stick out and says, "jump over the stick." You can either jump over it or walk around it and give her a wet willy. Chicks will continue to create new shit tests. It's communities like this that help men evolve responses to them.

Second, let's understand why the girl is asking this question. She's interested, but not yet sold (i.e. kicking the tires). She's testing your mettle. Or put more charitably, she's giving you an opportunity to shine. One way to do this is to have a top 10% Instagram account (an option that is not available to 90% of men, by the way). The other is to defy the whole premise of the shit test.

Third, let's call bullshit on the if you're not on social media, you're not legit. That's a chick mentality. Plenty of men avoid social media for a variety of reasons. One is that our tech overlords hate us, and some men want to avoid feeding that beast. Another is privacy, whether for career or family, some men don't want to distribute pictures of themselves to the entire world. And some men would rather enjoy the sunset than take a selfie in front of it.

Fourth, the shit test has evolved since I first started this thread. It's not "What's your Instagram?" not "Do you have Instagram?" This means that the starting premise has shifted to having Instagram as the default. So that answers like "No, I'm an adult" might not work as well as they once did.

Finally, to all the Instagram wizards, if Lord Zuck personally banned you from Instagram, do you think you could still pull tail? Or would you react like this girl?

This agreed. Guys I'm new on here but am surprised to see this social media aversion thread. It seems to me the major objection is that she'll see you don't have followers and thus you'll have given yourself lower value?

I couldn't disagree with this more, in fact I'd go as far to say follower count doesn't mean shit unless it's really high (tens of thousands) or really low (12) in terms of a girl's reaction. Anywhere in between and she won't notice BECAUSE SHE'S NOT LOOKING FOR FOLLOWER STATS.

The reason in my humble opinion that girls love social media is that it allows her to check out your life on your own terms. We love social media because we can see in detail how a girl looks, what her body is like etc. Girls love social media because they can see what your LIFE is like, do you have awesome friends, do you go out and do shit you love etc. etc. are you a normal human being. These are all perfectly valid questions she SHOULD have if you just met her on the street or in the club, and especially if you're just a profile online! It's a huge red flag if a guy doesn't have instagram or dodges the question.

Not that it'll kill your game obviously but why not just play the social media game to win?

And all of this is just for an initial view, we're not even talking about the incredible possibilities for retention and management of multiple girls attention via a platform like instagram. Its where she spends her time, its where her attention is constantly, so why would you not want to be on there and be seen by all the girls you've picked up/met/pulled? It's crazy not to!

Don't let follower counts be a barrier to entry, just start, post up content (it doesn't all even ahve to be of you) and use a bunch of hashtags. I don't really understand the aversion to social media either.

The phrase "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies here. If you are getting plenty of hot young girls today without being on Instagram at all, then there's no need to play that game, just keep doing what you're doing. However, if you AREN'T getting the girls you want, you should seriously look into whether a lack of social media may be the problem.

At least in my city, the truth is that basically all 18-22 y/o hot girls have Instagram, spend a shit ton of time on it, and are sometimes even willing to disqualify guys who don't have IG (or who have a crappy profile). Meanwhile, there are plenty of guys who have mastered the "art" of social media and are getting lots of passive pussy from it, much more than from Tinder/Bumble/etc.

Here are the benefits of social media as I see them:
- IF you're wealthy/famous/popular/good-looking, you're getting laid anyway, but IG provides an additional avenue to meet chicks and to show value. It is easy to create a good profile because all you have to do is take selfies, pics w/other chicks, and generally show off your life.

- IF you're not especially good-looking/popular/famous, but live a unique and exciting life, IG can be a great tool to get yourself into the game with girls that wouldn't be as accessible without it. Say that you're a traveling surfer or skier. You meet a girl at a bar and tell her about it. What is more likely to impress her... showing a few pics on your phone (could easily be fake)... or showing her your IG with 1,000 followers and dozens of dope pics of you surfing/skiing. It is the latter.

Note that in both of these cases, you are not "faking" anything; you are living your life, and showing excerpts of it online.

- IF you aren't any of the above, and don't live an exciting life, then it becomes much harder to be successful on IG. You can either fake it, or just go crazy with pics when you actually do something exciting. The simpler solution though is to actually live an exciting life.

I fully acknowledge that social media has downsides (LINUX wrote a great post in another thread on negative aspects of IG), but the upside is that it is a great outlet to show value, as well as a passive pussy funnel.

If you live an exciting life, you don't even need to spend a lot of time on social media, just post a pic every week and a few stories here and there. It isn't as complicated as people make it.
