I recall reading somewhere that dosing yourself on garlic is good for these types of parasites, and that you could sometimes even see them in your feces if you downed some spoonfulls of it minced up, as they go in evacuation mode if you start dumping garlic in your bloodstream. I believe it also works as prevention - dice up some garlic from time to time and down it with some water. Sounds gnarly but it's good for you and a solid immune boost. My mom used to always have us do this when we were kids if we got sick.

Rank breath for a day or so, but maybe a good preventative measures every few months for those of us who frequent the tropics. Wish I could remember where I read this. My cousin is a doctor and was giving me shit one time about getting checked for parasites, and when I mentioned the garlic thing he said it didn't sound like a bad idea at all.

I eat an absurd amount of garlic, so to the extent that trick works, it does not for me. Raw, pickled, cooked you name it. I'm talking a half to full head of garlic a day.

Fair enough. Maybe I should put down some dewormer. I've eaten everything in the book over here, including my share of raw meat. Had some stomach issues about a week ago that were a bit suspect too.

I'm actually glad you posted about this. It's one of those issues I just ignore because the idea of something living inside my body freaks me out so much, but this put it right in front of me and after reading your story and digging around the internet a bit, I feel like I've got a bit more of a rational perspective on the matter.
