I´m considering making a dance course to step up my dance game at events which require more than just generic grinding like Salsa nights etc.
I know practically nothing about "real" dances and wanted to ask guys who are good dancers which dancing styles are best to attract chicks?

Certainly not a good dancer but salsa would make most sense to learn owing to it's overall popularity. Most large cities have a salsa spot any night of the week. Not sure there's another dance style you can say the same for.

I would say almost all my swoops these days incorporate dancing into the close.

Not learning dancing is like not smoking cigarettes or not wearing Custom Suits as far as I am concerned.

Then again, a non-dancing, non-smoking, Ed Hardy shirt wearing guy should find plenty in common with about 99% of the guys in America.

So you will never be at a loss for friends to go out to the local sports bar and eat "Mondo Nachos" and "Jalapeño Poppers" with.

I've thought about doing this too, not only to help me get more comfortable on the dance floor, but to also help me get a better idea of rhythm so that I actually am dancing better. I'm also told (though not verified) that in my area you dont find many single men in Salsa classes so I'd have the run of all the chicas.

Listen you should´nt do it if you dont like it but yea dancing is awesome for getting girls. I learned tango here in buenos aires and its really good, especially if you are young since there arent many young male dancers. Its really grown too, they have it all over the states, you can check online, as well as in Europe and Japan. Iv´danced in Miami and got a SNL once and you can get dates easy.

Dancing, doing yoga, and playing guitar...... really nice activities for getting girls.

I never used to think myself a dancer, but a few nights of "aww fuck it" and just enjoying myself proved otherwise.

Also, yoga... this almost seems cliche. I've heard this from many people, but have always wondered the validity of the claim. Once I knock off the last few pounds I've thought about shifting some of my weekly workouts to a yoga studio in town for reasons of physical fitness and game.

I've been having my grandparents show me how to do salsa/merengae/meskin dancing. There's always lessons going on around town. I plan on hitting some up and seeing the reactions I get from girls. Don't want to hit up clubs just yet

I've started taking salsa classes as part of my general game plan and to prepare for next LatAm trip.

I can really recommend it. Besides learning salsa I get to talk to a lot of girls in a natural way. The teachers forces the guys to approach the girls and ask them to dance which is good if you have approach anxiety. Girls are really open too, got a number on my second lesson yesterday. Ok numbers don't neccessarily mean much but there are a lot of prospects.

My guess is that this is true in most cities.

Do it

The line i was fed that sold it to me was

"Dancing is the vertical expression of our horizontal desires..."

Don,t see it as a another weapon, but your hydrogen bobmb that will absolutely destroy the competition!

Whereas with most other things, the reward-to -work ratio is linear, this is is exponential and through the roof!

The 1st few steps are the hardest but perservere, and my god, you will be rewarded!

Great transferable skills, like a deeper understanding of music structure, rhythm, agility, movement, spatial awareness, the abilitiy to choreograph and improvise on the spot.

Plus, what can be better for the girl, hips swaying, shouklders pounding, touching her intimately, whispering sweet nothings, make her feel sexy.

Just went to a free salsa class at a salsa club. I have absolutely zero rhythm so I was pretty bad but I plan on learning Salsa over the next few years to become a good dancer.

I'll say this though, when you are a beginner you'll often find girls trying to show you what to do and leading and you won't exactly feel like a man. Its an ego killing experience but I knew this before hand so I just went in and tried to learn as much as possible even though I was sucking ass!

I still had fun though. I just need to learn to be more relaxed and natural while dancing.

My friend is really good at meringue and its amazing to see him dancing.

Depends on the floor and the style of dance.

For vigorous dance like Contra Dance a lot of people wear Capezio's Danzsneakers. The toe and heel are separate, with only fabric connecting them. I wear them to both Contra and English Country (which is a bit slower and more elegant).

For Salsa, you want "Men's character shoes", again from Capezio. Or Capezio Standard Ballroom in either 3/4" or 1". If your floor is sticky you'll want to go to a cobbler and have suede added to the toe plate. (but not the heel)

Same for Dickens, steampunk, social ballroom, vintage waltz, modern Victorian, or any other dance that features The Congress of Vienna Waltz (the best views of the crowd start at 4:25). The dress code is "men must wear a jacket", and Capezio ballroom or character shoes will carry you through any outfit you want. Leather sole, no suede plate added, or you'll end up on your ass during the Schottishe

For Balboa you want the slipperiest soled shoes possible. But most clubs will mix Lindy Hop with Balboa dancers on the same floor, so getting the suede toe plate on any man's ballroom Capezio is generally good enough and a fair compromise that lets you do both styles.

Zydeco you can wear any leather soled street shoes, but you get extra points for cowboy boots. And even more extra points for bringing spare shirts so you can change fresh each break cause you're sweating so much.

If youre in texas and you listen to country music, asking girls to 2 step at dance halls is a must. I dont even like country music but i live in texas and pretty girls go to dance halls. learn to 2 step, its easy. and its actually a good opener to ask a girl to teach you too.

Not my thing at all but years ago i used to live above this bar that had a salsa night with free lessons and free booze once a week.
I would sit in there after work drinking and chatting with amazing women until the ponytail'd gericho's and antonio's in their pink silk shirts would come in and own those bitches....
As soon as the music came on,whatever rapport i had built up was left with me and my tequila at the bar.....
In hindsight i should have gotten amongst it.....

It seems like every bar here has a Salsa night. When did this get so popular?

I'd be open to learning, although I'm not sure if I have the time. I'd rather just show up to a Salsa night somewhere and con some girl into teaching me on the spot.

i'm big into dance game so i'd recommend salsa and swing. the thing is that i don't go to salsa and swing venues. i mainly go to clubs that play hip hop, top 40. however, i do use the moves i learned from salsa and swing classes at top 40 clubs. girls love the turns and dips i do with them! i also use the moves as escalation techniques.
