I recently got my brother a weird movie for his birthday.

House has been described as "more of an experience than a movie", and "the weirdest movie ever made."

I haven't watched it yet but next time I see him I'll get a full review and check it out myself. The trailer looks...Interesting to say the least. If you like Japanese shit this thing looks par for the course.

I had never heard of House until a few months ago listening to a film review podcast where they recommended it.

What are some weird or obscure things you guys would recommend?

That House trailer reminds me of another Japanese film, Visitor Q. Very bizarre and grotesque but with some great dark comedic moments.

I love watching wierd documentaries. Two of my favorites as far as just being wierd is "I think were alone now" about these three very interesting people who are obsessed with the 80s pop star tiffany and "shut up little man" about these teenage/early 20's kids who move in next to these crazy gay alcoholics who are literally insane and spend the year they lived there recording what they heard through the wall as well as sharing some stories about wierd things that they would do or that happenned. Definatley cehck out those two if you like wierd docs.

House is a fantastic movie. One of the most entertaining movies I've ever seen. It's in the Criterion Collection which releases a bunch of great old, obscure, and foreign films. You could look into their catalog for other gems.

The original "Old Dark House"(1932). And it's Halloween, so this is topical. There is one powerful scene with Charles Laughton where he talks about how his first wife died from grief over not "being good enough" to mix with his company friends. But just as you think he's going to drift in Betatitude, the character comes back with how he succeeded in business and "smashed" everyone who insulted him.
