Glad I'm not the only one to catch that. Almost every preacher I've meet has either married a "reformed" hooker, or a "reformed" party girl.

Also three of the most religious men I know all wifed chicks that were known party sloots before they "found the light."

Not sure why that is but it is a strange phenomenon.

I used to work for a certain state agency based in Oswego County (Syracuse, where I grew up, is about a half-hour south). The place embodies every redneck, bumpkin stereotype you can think of: meth-skinny teenagers with bastard spawn, fat kids who eat McDonald's every day, hicks who have to sign their names with an "X," the whole nine yards. The place has the highest unemployment rate in New York state because the backbone of the economy---manufacturing---has decamped to Mexico or China. Local high schools have to put locks on the bathroom doors to keep kids from shooting up in the stalls.

Both of these two clowns look like they have mild brain damage. His smug smile suggests that this is the first chance he's gotten to touch some boobies. Only reason he's still in Fulton is because he doesn't have the brains to hack it in the big city (and to these hicks, Syracuse is the big city). And to everyone bashing her looks: by local standards she's a freaking supermodel. It's a spiritual rebirth. It's vaguely similar to the secular concept of 'turning over a new leaf', but that is only a mental behavioral change. Becoming a good boy and doing good works doesn't get anyone to heaven.

In order to be "born again" you have to be saved. It is the same thing.

To be saved you have to acknowledge you're a sinner like everyone else, realize the penalty for sin is spiritual death and hell, and believe that Christ is the son of God who sacrificed himself to absolve us of our sins and save us from hell, was buried, and rose again.
