Not sure what was happening before the video but no one seemed to be intoxicated so obviously the girl must have said something or hit the guy first to provoke this.

While I do think that women should learn their place, I think for society to function, it should be their fathers and than their husbands that put them in it.

Having a society where we cheer violence between strangers will result in a world where the bullies get free reign to abuse whoever they wish.

Of course, bring guns into the mix (to level the playing field) and we'll have people shooting each other (to put them in their place).

Ultimately, I prefer to live in a society where strangers don't smack each other around.

I see punching a woman not much different than punching a kid. She is intellectually and physically your inferior. Unless she attacks you first, you should never hit a woman, and when she hits you first, you should return it accordingly, meaning don't return a bitchslap with a knock-out punch. Guys talking shit like women is a disgusting habit which has evolved the last decade or two. It's always been that if you talk shit, you risk getting in a fight.

There are times, when a woman gets a wild hair and decides to ramp up her shit test game. She's hucking curveballs at you every which way and you're dodging them the best you can. The nagging and bitching goes into overdrive, and no amount of reassurance or responding to her can calm her down.

In times like these, it's necessary to get physical. Never with a closed fist of course, but it could be gripping her hair tightly and pulling her head back to look up at you, it could be pinning her by her throat, it could be a slap across the cheek. Something that snaps her out of it, and the physical enforcement should be accompanied by a calm, steel-toned warning, "Listen to me right now, that's enough. I'm done listening to your bullshit. Stop running your mouth of right now. You need to calm the fuck down."

Now in terms of this video, we don't see her talking shit, so it's wrong to assume she had it coming. If anything, her body language looks like she's backing down and she says "Get out of my face". These are not the words of someone looking to escalate. She probably struck a nerve and pissed the guy off, but that's no excuse for a closed-fist strike on her. They're in a public place, so it would have been easy enough for him to walk away, which is always the best solution.

It's one thing if a woman is disrespecting you and talking shit to you in your own household. That's not the case here.

I think both Suits and turkishcandy are right on here. There are definitely times and ways to discipline a woman, but this isn't it. This is a symptom of a sick society. To blindly cheer the beating of a woman implies some deep rooted resentment or anger towards women.

I'm talking about shit talking from men, didn't watch the video. I have never hit a woman and doubt I could even if I wanted. The only force against women I condone is the same as with a child. Grabbing her arms hard or physically restraining her in a way which may hurt a little but doesn't cause injury. On the other hand, don't expect me to rush in and save you if get violent with a man and think it has no risk or consequence.

I have hit a woman before (my mother was screaming at me and trying to grab something out of my hand) I feel really bad for it because 1) she's my mother, obviously and 2) she's a woman. It's something I don't think I'd ever do again. Perhaps a light bitch-slap if she's acting over-the-top and really pissing me off. I agree with turkish on this particular issue. The woman is the weaker vessel, and it's really pathetic to haul off on a woman (unless she's actually trying to kill you with a weapon or something).

We don't know anything about the circumstances surrounding whatever's happening in the video. He could be some loose cannon overreacting or she could've said she was glad his father died and she hopes he burns in hell.

In that regard the title of the thread is misleading since it's stating something we don't know as a fact.

That being said, I stand by my earlier post: if you talk shit, no matter what your gender, you should expect either a fight or getting hit. Obviously, the force should be proportional and you should have the self control to blow off nonsense and walk away. But there are people who, when they know a little bit about you, can say some crazy personal shit that would probably make even a pacifist reconsider their views.

Anyway, I believe people should talk to each other like civilized human beings rather than hurling invective and expecting the cops to bail them out of the consequences for things they say.

Men and women who talk a lot of shit should be shunned and shamed but since those things are no longer allowed in the West, we shouldn't be surprised when people settle the matters with violence.

I personally would laugh at some dumb uppity bimbo acting a fool in public and walk off. Maintain frame. Then again, I don't hang out with people like that in the first place so it's not even a concern of mine.

Avoid stupid people and stupid places, my friends. Life's too short for that nonsense.

I want to reiterate that I totally think she got what she deserved.

However, to license members of society to use physical violence at their own discretion whenever they feel disrespected, is to invite a world where the big dominate the small.

As if s__t talking really is a two decade old phenomena. Big assholes have been s__t talking since the beginning of time, because they could get away with it

Now, on the other hand, I think a healthy fear of saying the wrong thing to the wrong person is helpful and keeps people from believing that they can get away with anything. But to make it a social policy that you can attempt to beat up anyone who hurts your feelings, as a terrible idea.

If you want to argue for a better way of organizing society, I do believe that women should grow up knowing that they get out of line, a man will put them back in their place. Same goes for young men. Same goes for grown women. If we do that and children and women begin to act in a polite manner (because they have no choice), asshole men are going to look like assholes if they don't personally hold themselves to a higher standard.

Feminism is the problem, as it removed the father as the head of the home. Arguing that we should have men beating each other senseless in the street over perceived insults is not going to help one little bit.
