Special Forces: Movie Review
Just saw this excellent combat flick the other day and felt the need to write a review. First of all, the movie is in French with English subs (no dubbed version). It is available on Netflix.

French title: Forces spéciales

Plot - I'll keep it short and with minimal details.

A French female journalist is kidnapped in Afghanistan and a special forces unit is sent to retrieve her.

Review - This is by no means an original plot or script, but the acting in the film was superb. For those of you who know him, Djimon Hounsou, of Blood Diamond fame, is in it and he does a great job. What separates this film from others that I've seen are the combat scenes. Similarly, the cinematography blew me away. The villages, mountains, and rough terrain of Afghanistan come to life in this movie.

Lastly, this was a movie about men. It was a movie about honor, valor, and persistence. The things we all value on this forum. One scene in particular, involving the sniper of the unit, almost made me cry, and I haven't cried since the last episode of Frasier.

All jokes aside, though, watch this film. You will not be disappointed.

Film score: 9/10

RE: Special Forces: Movie Review
This movie was a great piece of polished shit.
I'll start of with the good.
Cinematography in this film was excellent. The bulk of the money in this movie must have went to getting those shots...lots of high boom and helicopter footage.
The view of the mountains ranged and pockets of water was awesome.
I hope that one day when all this shit is over with..people can travel and see some of those places. Some of those villages could probably benefit from a little peaceful tourism.

As for the movie.
Who was their tactics expert in this shit?
All the technology and tactics in the world.. and the director preferred to go with the zombie style where drones of terrorist hobble towards a group of dudes that are suppose to be special forces.. but instead of using any sort of cover.. they stand in the open and fire almost blindly at the hoards of men marching towards them.
One scene.. their are being perfect cover.. but choose to stand up in front of a outnumbering force. and somehow no one seems to get shot.

How can you be running from 20 dudes with assault riles..and no one person ca hit you.
Taliban might have a bunch of farmers... but the farmers have aim.

Somehow they make every choice to do something wrong.
Constantly bunching together during battle scenes or splitting up with no communication at all.

They go way to protect this chick and start getting extremely slopping with everything they do.
Of course.. they acted like a team...but what the fuck else are they suppose to act like....its a war movie.. I saw nothing special about this.
If anything the fact that in a couple days.. one of the dudes got attached to the girl vice versa

Thats one reason people dont want women in units like that...because not they sacrifice everything for the chick.

I found it little odd that selectively each member showed is break point when a specific person died.
Sometimes a team member would die.. and everyone just keeps walking.. other times.. they scream out in angst...
There never seems to be a moment where the whole team takes everything in.

Then the funniest part..is at the end they tell the woman to go on by herselve and to leave the too dudes.
The one guy broke his leg... he wasnt dead.
Hell....didnt one dude get his arm trapped under a rock...and cit his own arm off!?

But a Special forces dudes is just gonna give up.....and the woman with no experience at all somehow walked miles through afganistan on her own to magically pass out at the rigght time for a truck to roll up on her.

Polished shit.
It looked real nice an pretty on the outside.. but its still shit

So basically you felt it was too unrealistic and had some feminist PC points. Fair argument. I still highly enjoyed it simply for the entertainment value and the cinematography.

entertainment value.
Yes. It was ok.

But....If you wanna cut through all the bullshit and political correctness.
Watch a movie about the gritty truth in brotherhood and struggle.

A Russian film called the 9th Company

You can watch the whole movie on youtube if you want.
Watch it in russian with the subtitles.. the ennglish dub is shit
You can downloaded it to have better quality
