I also have a sort-of tradition where I do a full playthrough of the campaign before I even touch the multiplayer - sometimes the multiplayer has spoilers like characters in-game. I know Halo won't be like this, but it's just this thing I do. Hopefully I'll play SOME multiplayer before I finish the campaign Big Grin

I thought i would cut back video games, then I got myself a gtx 980 card just because I could and now I'm hooked on GTAV, the Witcher 3 and Black Flag again, these games at max settings look absolute gorgeous though.

Yep. Except for raids, don't have the time and patience to attempt that with strangers.

Oh wow, I just realized that another reason we need to have a 4-man squad is to play the campaign. The entire campaign is very heavily focused on 4-person gameplay apparently.

Although I don't do the same thing you do - I gotta play that multiplayer right away. =)

We'll somehow have to work that out. Maybe you play ahead of the rest of us if that's what you want to do, and then we all figure out a time that works for us to play through the campaign (and multiplayer). I don't know, we'll figure it out.

Oh blimey yeah I forgot that the campaign was 4 player too!

I can play ahead and get a feel for it. Might go straight into it on Legendary (completed H3, H4, H3: ODST and H: Reach on Legendary) so we know what to expect. I'll also dabble a little bit in the multiplayer too though to get some practice in haha Smile

I've heard there are going to be some interesting paths for Speedrunners. This is something I've been trying to get into recently within gaming. 343i have changed the game to stop certain breaks in the game for speedrunning, but have allowed others. Hopefully this means that sword-flying and hammer-flying are back!

RE: Video games
Anyone playing the new Star Wars Battlefront beta? Just had a few matches in it and not enjoying it much at all. The big 20 vs 20 match requires some more time to get a feel for the map so I'll admit my opinion there might be a bit premature, but the smaller dropzone matches are a bit lackluster in my opinion.
And the truncated co-op mode on Tatooine is just flat out boring compared to pretty much anything I'm doing in Destiny at the moment (a game that also gets a lot of criticism for its PvP, but I'm actually enjoying a few of the modes).

I'm probably wanting to get a new online shooter in not in November, then in January when I come back from a long Thailand vacation. Battlefront may or may not be it - two PvP maps in the beta don't really give a comprehensive impression - but otherwise I guess it's the upcoming new CoD?
I haven't played a CoD game in probably 4-5 years, but I'm also not too interested in going back to Battlefield 4, and though Battlefield Hardline is on sale on the PSN store at the moment, it's been getting a lot of criticism. and I'm already hearing about half empty servers.

^^^^^^^^
I started playing it, so far I like it but apparently its made to be really casual.

There is not gonna that much depth to the actual gameplay systems.

If it were $20-$30, I would cop it day one.

I am really excited for the 1st Witcher 3 expansion dropping on monday.

I think I am going to wait till the Witcher 3 game of the year comes out..with all the expansions and all the updates, they just released a patch that fixed over 600 bugs... by the time the GOTY edition comes out it should be smooth as butter.

My only gripe with the Witcher 2 was that there was not enough loot... every now and then there would be a better sword to craft or buy but not very often. An you NEVER got a good sword or armor from a side quest. Is that still the case in the Witcher 3?

RE: Video games
The best armor in Witcher 3 are sets (each with different level range tiers, also include weapons but I'm not sure they are necessarily always better than random loot or quest rewards) that you have to locate with the use of treasure maps bought from merchants. Or if you're the impatient sort like me who gets bored quickly if it's not combat, random scenery sightseeing or marked quest lines, finding a web site that shows you the exact locations.

I haven't played the game in a few months. Probably put around 60-80 hours or so into it but haven't finished it yet. In fact still quite a chunk of the main quest to go I think.
Not sure if I'll get around to that before Fallout 4 lands in a month.

Yea I don't blame you on waiting on the GOTY edition. All games are basically doing that now.

I got Witcher 3 cheaper though since it was on PC.
Usually you can get games cheaper than normal even before the game comes out.

Only other game I most definitely will buy day one is Fallout 4. Only thing that kinda sucks about Falllout 4 is that its going to be 3-5 years before some really good mods come out.

Also to answer your question about loot in W3 you come across pretty good loot all over in the game ,only problem is that in the lower levels it looks ugly Gay. Best armors in the game are the Witcher school armors which you have to upgrade with schematics you find.

RE: Video games
I bought witcher 3 and it's been sitting around forever. Still haven't even started it besides installation and watching the intro.

Part of that is due to last year after not playing games for a long time and starting again with Dragon age inquisition. It really left a sour taste in my mouth. I still haven't finished that motherfucker yet and i'm pretty close to the end.

I'm pretty sure even if fallout 4 is not that great i'll plow right through it. Fallout New Vegas was tits.

RE: Video games
I hear nothing but praise about The Witcher 3 but its not one of those games you have to play as soon as it comes out.. theres no multiplayer and its only going to get better in time with DLC and patches.

Fallout 4 is going to steal my life away from those poor Filipina hunnies... (in reality they will still bring food over and cook it for me and then blow me while playing it) I'm more pumped for Fallout 4 then I have been for pretty much any game recently except maybe when GTA5 released.

I doubt I even buy a shooter this fall.... not that excited about another futuristic COD and Halo while fun was never really a game I just was dying to play since the first 2. I dont like the shields and it taking so many shots to kill someone on multiplayer.... its not a bad game by any means and I have had good times playing previous installments... its just not something I'm drooling over.
Not really interested in the StarWars Battlefield game either
I do love the Borderlands games... I just want you guys to know <3

I will however buy the new Need for Speed on the 2nd or 3rd of next month to hold me over till I strap that pipboy on and explore post apocalyptic Boston

I'm not very good at waiting months for something I've been looking forward to. For games that means buying the ones I'm most excited about - perhaps a handful of so in a typical year - on day one (or day two if I happen to be busy with something else on day one).

While Witcher 3 has been improved with patches, it was perfectly playable and a ton of fun right after release - and obviously a massive game before any DLC. That I haven't finished it yet is certainly not related to any flaws in the game.

I used to be like that... for a while I was pretty bad at buying almost any game that was supposed to be decent on release day (and midnight releases for the big titles) But I then found myself never finishing games and just playing whatever game just came out. So I slowed way down on that and it made it much easier for me to hold off on games that don't have a online aspect to them as there is no need to play it right away. Now I still buy the heavy hitters the day they come out.. but my back log of games is so long with games for gold and games I buy on these sales I could not buy another game for a year and still have plenty to play. I'm just now playing through Tomb Raider on the Xbox one now to beat it then clear up space on the hard drive.

RE: Video games
To anyone thinking about starting the Witcher 3, I would prepare myself for a long haul. I got sucked right in and I spent roughly five weeks on it. When I really get into a game I do everything, so that was part of it. A story that interesting comes along once in a long while.

To the guys that have played it, I suggest reading the books. They're just as great and the stories are very different. Right now there are five books that have been translated to English with two more coming in the next couple years.

Also, I'm pretty excited for Fallout 4. It's very different from what they've made before. I haven't bought a game in a couple months. That will be my next one. Big Grin

If it doesn't fit, force it... If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway.

RE: Video games
Among a whole slew of other things I'm looking forward to in Fallout 4, I'm very happy that it sounds like they've improved the shooting mechanics from previous games to actually feel like a proper FPS now, getting assistance from id Software.
Tough to go back to the gun clunkiness of Fallout 3 and NV after so much time in Destiny and others like Battlefield 4 (one of the reasons I'm having such a lousy time with the Star Wars Battlefront beta, ironically enough from the Battlefield developers - no aiming down sights, no recoil, all guns about as pin point accurate at 200 meters as they are at 20).

RE: Video games
Hey,

Just playing through the new Mad Max game on the Xbox one and so I have been impressed so far.

The combat system is very much like the batman games in which one button does pretty much all the hand to hand combat, one does the reversals and blocking and such.

I was worried about the driving mechanics but the cars seem to handle pretty well and you can get some good battles with other road warriors.

I'm about 5-10 hours in and I've read that it is a 40+ hour game so I've still got a long way to go.

That. You'll get a lot more out of the game if you've read the books, although there is one important plot related detail about Ciri that is a wholesale retcon from the books.

Also be prepared: Witcher 3 is an extremely redpill game compared to what you're used to from American publishers. There's more than one juncture where you're going to get fucked if you don't pay attention to important details or just have bluepill gullibility.

With few exceptions I tend to get bored with the story based ones before I finish them (bored with either the story or the gameplay).
I still don't understand how MGS5 got rave reviews everywhere. Or rather I do, because many of the reviewers played them at a review event where they probably didn't have time to actually finish the game. I had a blast with it for the first 20-25 hours and then - after getting to and doing some missions in the second major area - everything just started feeling extremely repetitive. And extremely light on actual story (though from what I've heard about previous MGS games that might actually be for the best for someone new to the series, too convoluted and bizarre to follow for newcomers).

I also now gravitate mostly towards playing games that are not one-and-done, which for me means racing games and online shooters.

Picked up Valkyria Chronicles on steam over the summer for $5, it's a good game if you like strategy RPGs. The newer game of thrones game is $11 this weekend on steam but I will probably wait for it to be $5 or less, too much of a backlog.
