Just reading the latest ROK article and this part really jumped out at me:

I’ve seen it a lot with hypochondria as well. Women will greatly exaggerate the extent of their medical problems. A mild headache that can easily be treated with a couple of Tylenol becomes, “I think I need to see a neuro-oncologist due to several malignant cerebellar astrocytomas destroying my motor skills,” or a sore back from a sedentary work environment becomes, “I think I need spinal fusion surgery due to spondylolisthesis, it’s really painful and it’s affecting my mobility.” I’m exaggerating for effect here… but not by much.

I want to preface this by saying that I'm engaged. I've been with this girl for 3 years now. She's a lovely girl and has almost all of the qualities that I wanted for an LTR. She's 25. She's also currently 2.5 months pregnant so this might have some effect on things.

When we first met, I remember being attracted to how physically and mentally resilient she was. She was working full time, taking a couple night courses at the college and volunteering trying to get into a Sonography program. She was accepted and she's currently studying that while pregnant and doing a good job.

Lately though, the whining has been increasing. It's always something. Headache, light-headed, sore back, sore neck, bitch of an instructor etc.

How does one properly deal with this? I think she's blowing it all out of proportion and looking for sympathy and attention. I try not to give it to her but some advice in this general realm would be appreciated.

American women always seem to act like they've had an extra hard life, are struggling with something. Etc...or is it world wide!?

I actually find it harder to care and show concern. Sympathy isn't something I naturally process.

Legit don't have enough empathy to share in their woe stories. I have enough problems to feel bad about in my OWN life that when it comes to other people's issues I don't offer a sympathetic ear.

Very few people offer me a shoulder to cry on. When the opposing party offers it to me first, then they get access to my deep well of patience and sympathy.
