It's important to keep in mind that these are state statistics. I'm sure there are many people out there who are effectively married (live together, have kids etc), but are not on government registers as being 'married'. I'm sure the real number, whilst still bad, is a bit better than this.

It's the same situation with employment numbers etc. It's possible that even more people are employed than the government thinks, in spite of the government wanting that statistic to be higher, because of people withdrawing from the 'official' economy and into the underground economy to avoid state oppression.

Marriage was created by society for one reason and one reason alone: paternity. Without marriage societies would be overrun by packs of feral orphans. Marriage made it clear to which male should be financially responsible for which child. Now with child support enforcement under the threat of imprisonment and the ability for the government to determine paternity through DNA testing, marriage is an outdated concept for our modern society. Women can just screw whoever gives them tingles and the government will make sure taxpayers and the biological father will pay. That is why women don't want to marry until they hit the wall or see it approaching rapidly.

Good points, but ultimately this system must collapse as fewer and fewer males will see a reason to participate in their own castration. Once the state dies, and they always do because everything dies, the women will have no more protection or money unless they can get married or provide sex to a community of men who will protect them.

Since many states dumped their common-law marriage laws in the 2000's, co-habitation doesn't lead to a "legal marriage" in more and more states, so there's one less reason that leads to marriage.

I'd also throw out for consideration the impact of the expanded US credit market and improved collections, I've heard of cases where people don't want to get married because one partner has bad credit, and the other partner doesn't want to get hit with the liability. The patterns of declining religiosity, technological automation (also to open and move heavy things etc), a consumer culture apparently encouraging choice but causing atomization and increasing urbanization suggest this increasingly single socio-demographic status as a likely outcome, also to increase into the near future.

Perhaps, but going back to the old status quo is not a good idea in my honest opinion. Why should men fight among themselves to prove who is superior for the sake of women? Competition among men is useful, don't get me wrong, but pouring that effort for the sake of impressing women isn't.

Instead women should seek to impress us, to prove worthy of our time, not the other way around.

The problem with the current system is that it leads to more and more and more women being single mothers and they're horrible at raising their children past a certain age it leads to a lot of dysfunctional kids, especially males. I was raised by mother pretty much solo and I was pretty much a loser for a large number of years of my life. It took me over half a decade to stop caring what she had to say and and find my own path and since then I'm doing far better.

The only role women should have in raising children is taking care of them until age 3 and then men should take over their education alone. We need to remove women from educating children.

Ideally fathers should be doing the educating, but how can they if they are the ones who must provide and work all the time as well?

Ultimately women need to do routine education for the children; math, reading, writing, etc. But after age 10 or so then the Fathers have to do the heavy work of teaching their kids morals, critical thinking, and more specialized fields like learning Plato, how to write software, etc.

But regardless we won't be returning to these times anytime soon. Too many women are more than content to have children without a father nowadays. We're looking at another 50 years of transition time to get there. We may be lucky to see it happen by the time we are approaching the casket.

My answer, NEVER.
Logic and reason 'left the room' a long time ago with a lot of people. Even if you pile them with facts, logic and reason, they will refuse to understand. As time goes on, the situation will just get worse for anyone stuck around such a person.

I sometimes wonder what is going to happen to the women who spent tens of thousands of dollars on useless degrees, like 'woman studies' once they get to 35 and their looks fade. I think many of them are going to start to realize that most productive work and businesses have no use for a person that only has knowledge of 'women's issues' and they are unemployable. (What is a business going to do with someone who just studies about how they are a victim? Where is the profit in that? My answer is that there is none.)

I expect that as time goes on they will become more and more irrational, even detached from the reality of the situation and refuse to accept or understand what is happening and why it is happening.

For a lot of woman in that age range, the simple fact is that even if they took steps to try to fix their fixable problems, like their weight or finances, there are problems that they can not fix no matter what they do. A woman at 40, while she can (as in it is possible) still look good (example, other areas of the world, like China) for many American woman the damage has been done and can't be undone. This is the way it is going to be and get worse from here.

While a number of men take some glee for what is happening, myself included at times depending how cruel the woman was in her earlier years towards others, the simple fact is that for many of the problems, is that there is nothing that can be done for them.

I do believe that on some level the realize they have wasted a lot of time and that the world has changed, and there is nothing they can do about it. But instead of making the best of the situation, they will continue to pine away for how things use to be when it is no longer possible.

Imagine in 60 years, if the whole sub-replacement birthing trend does not reverse itself, a sparsely populated America full of growing Catholic, Mormon, and Quiverfull Baptist enclaves. They have to know that's what's coming.

Also, it isn't going to socially reengineer things, it's too difficult, too entrenched in the moment, and not smart enough either. The changes occur slowly and cannot be reversed.
