Or you could use Adblock plus and "No-script" to remove the ads and their algorithms that count page clicks. I won't ever visit, but it's a lot more effective.

Updated to block Huffington Post and dailylife[dot]com[dot]au.

The dailylife site I checked out (not living in Aussie). Holy shit...easy ban.

I was on the fence about Huffington, because although it's a SJW haven, it does actually come out with legitimate news for the most part (just with an extraordinarily leftist slant). However, there are other news sites, and HuffPo is starting to become like Cracked. There's always some stupid article written by a fem on the front page of Everything Else.

They're mainstream papers with lots of news, just extremely leftist (gay or feminist propaganda featured on headlines, haven for feminist and white knight columnists, etc). Don't add them to the list. I was just listing them as our close equivalents of Huffington Post, but spreading feminist bullshit isn't their main purpose like it is with Huff.

Here are a few Croatian sites that you can safely add to the block list though:

Libela - a "gender, sex and democracy" portal, currently featuring a triumphant article about Gay Pride on its main page, as well as "1 in 10 female children abused" headline - do I need say more? http://www.libela.org/
Vox Feminae - same as Libela, currently up in arms about a "flash mob to protest abortion restrictions" and "Pope Francis hasn't done enough for women in Catholic Church" http://www.voxfeminae.net/

In case someone wants to talk about how Croatia hasn't gone down the drain yet, I point you to the fact that all of these websites are receiving massive government subsidies every year.

I agree. As I said earlier in the thread:

This isn't so much to ignore the other side completely as it is to avoid giving them money (supporting them), and to avoid wasting your time with clickbait.

As I said before, I will not be blocking websites that do not significantly contribute to the echo chamber that formed around social justice in the mainstream media. There are reasonable websites with reasonable arguments. I liken blocking out the "noise" SJW websites to blocking out the schizophrenic homeless man who screams at you as you pass him on the street. His point of view isn't educational, and though you may pity him, you certainly don't want to accidentally find yourself in his alley.

Instead of outright blocking it, maybe instead we can try to get thread creators to copy/paste the body of the articles content? This way we can read it ourselves without having to go to the actual sites.

That's a forum policy if I remember right. But I've accidentally clicked links to those websites from other websites as well. This is a way to ensure you never misclick and end up funding the scum.

I oftentimes scroll through a news ticker and see an article that interests me, click it, and realize it's some shit on Buzzfeed or Kotaku or io9, all of which are owned by companies that directly champion things I disagree with. I will not indirectly fund their campaigns through my clicks.

Adblock plus is certainly a possibility, but personally I like to support content creators I appreciate. I could either create a whitelist in Adblock+ or a blacklist. I think a blacklist is more conservative and less of a hassle. Others will obviously disagree, which is awesome and more power to you, but frankly, noone is forcing you to use this blacklist. If you don't have a moral problem with it, go ahead and check out their content, no big deal.

I appreciate the effort involved in the blocklist and respect your reasons. Certainly, the list itself is useful.

But personally I think I'll just continue to avoid clicking the links or not logging into facebook more than once a month. In fact, nearly all of the unwanted Social Justice propaganda I see comes at me via facebook. And truthfully I remain mildly curious to which types of people buy in, which is why I haven't blocked/unfriended any of them.

Do not link is a SJW-friendly company that has recently put ads on their transition bar. So not only do you still give ad money to the site you click, you give it to Do Not Link as well.

Sites don't need your google juice from twitter or forums. They much rather have your ad money, which DNL still gives them. It's not a solution.

Can't really instruct people with different addons on how to use this, as I'm sure there are swaths of them. You'll have to use AdBlock or similar to block ads on specific websites, but this isn't really my interest.

As far as Chrome, I've created a 3-step tutorial below. Hopefully it helps. I can do the same for Firefox if requested by anyone, but really the steps are very similar.

The best way to block a site is go into your hosts file:

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Open the file as an administrator, and then add the links in there. It doesn't always work right and I find that you have to block:

http://www.abc.com/
http://www.abc.com
http://www.abc.com/
http://www.abc.com
abc.com/
abc.com

You can also go directly into your wireless router and block the sites from the router. That way your GF using your wifi won't be able to view those sites as well.
