Where is this not the case?

It's not required to keep many Filipino and some other Asian women straight. Alpha is better than beta, but it is not always required. Culture has alot to do with that though.

Same advice goes for everywhere, personally I don't see the problem with mail order bribes. There is a lot of shaming around it, but its not like the marriages you get with Western women aren't going to have a set conditions of give and take. For some reason, its believed that because Western women can dominate you and make a joke of you in relationships, is some sort of sign of a "healthy relationship".

A lot of these practical traditional marriages work out because they aren't made into something that is overcomplicated, with all this "soul mate" bullshit.

I can see how men will be blinded in these sort of countries. You have a lot of women trying to snare you into long term commitments, even after a few weeks of dating. There are good wives to be had out there, but you have to be careful and cautious just like anywhere else.

I'm starting to think mail order brides are a terrible idea. I used to not have any opinion on them before, but now...it's almost like if they were banned it would protect an idiot from himself. A ban would be wrong anyway. It's also harder to get one these days because the USCIS almost always demands that you at least see your fiancee at least once in person and actually have a relationship. To get a financial hardship, etc. exemption, you basically have to be a person who is getting a arraigned marriage, through your family and tribe, have a religious rule that prevents you from seeing her, or something like that. You have to prove it too. Another is if the fiancee lives in a warzone or other place that the US State Dept. warns against traveling to.

So if you are a white or black guy, not overtly religious, or trying to marrying a chick from a warzone, you have to show lots of proof. That makes getting a straight up mail order bride pretty much impossible. I have seen plenty of very old guys trying to marry Chinese women get flat out denied for not having any pictures together or any real relationship whatsoever. I think they started doing this after those murders/beatings of Russian mail order brides. So in a way a few bad seeds pretty much got it banned procedure wise anyway.
