For those who don't follow this stuff, Brazil is going through a presidential election right now.

Here's an economist article with a brief introduction to what's going on.

The current front runner is Marina Silva, a socialist and environmentalist. The current president is Dilma Rousseff, another socialist.

On one level I get it. Brazilians are uneducated politically, and favor candidates who continue the status quo of government handouts.

But what's with all the women presidents?

What does it say about Brazilian men that they're voting towards another 4 years of woman rule?

That will be the U.S. in 10 years...the media will be fawning over what under-qualified female quasi-socialist will succeed Hillary and continue her legacy of further turning the U.S.'s tradition of self-reliance into nanny-state dependency.

Safado, I could be wrong, but I feel that Brazil has room for error in that regard. The stench of feminism isn't as strong as it is in the U.S. Many men in this country fear that if Hillary takes the White House, that'll be the endgame for males in this country, although another administration under a male Democrat would be just as bad.

Pro gun rights, anti gay marriage, anti illegal immigration, what's not to love? There were even rumors that the NFL would yank away this year's Superbowl from the state if they passed Brewers proposed ban on gay marriage.

This theory does have a bit of sense to it.

Brazil is one of those countries that overvalues everything foreign.

Perhaps they caught wind of the trend of having women in power and wanted to beat the US to the punch.

Or maybe this was all part of some sick plot to let a woman oversee the country during tough times, so they could point back as an example of what not to let happen again. That doesn't explain the new lady though.

Safado, i have read that while Silva is a ecologist, her economic plan is quite liberal, and that some aspects as same-sex marriage haven been deleted from her social plan. is this true?

There is a strong trend right now in Brazil about female "empowerment" and such. They're aping what happened in the US and Britain about 15 years ago.

Brazilian men need to push back strongly against this trend now, before it's too late. Learn from our failures here.

In Latin America as a whole, there are more female politicians than in the USA, and many Latin American nations have had female presidents.

Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Costa Rica (am I missing any?) currently have Female Presidents

Argentina of course had Eva Peron way back when as President.

Is there actually evidence that a female President sways the coutnry in a direction that is more beneficial for women/less beneficial for men? Having all-male Presidents hasn't stopped all the problems we complain about in this country.

Another latin country that had a female president was Nicaragua back in the 80s.

The Phillipines has had 2 female presidents I believe and the women there are just as sweet as ever. Few countries on earth can yield the same amount and ease of bangs for the average man.

Just goes to show you how conservative America still is.

My thing is that Latin America is considered be very conservative still, where macho culture still prevails. Its interesting because in contrast with the U.S. which is perceived to be more liberal has yet to have a woman president.

Margaret Thatcher was good. But then she famously said "she owed nothing to women's lib," prompting fits of rage from feminists.

I think that when woman's looks deteriorate to "can't even think of banging her" AND if she's competent, is the point when people start taking them seriously, as was the case of Mrs. Thatcher.

On the other hand, reading 3rd volume of Black Cross Red Star, I discovered that around Stalingrad, anti-aircraft artillery was manned by Russian women, and was so effective that German pilots were terrified of them. This being wartime, the women could not have been very old, and thus must have been quite bangable. So, I don't know. Take it for what you will.

Argentina's woman president just drove the country into the ground. She's seemingly crazy.

Not sure why any country would be gung-ho to elect women who are typically overly-emotional creatures that have a serious emotional imbalance about one week a month due to menstruation (plus when they hit menopause their bodies go haywire). If 1/3 of American women over 30 are on some sort of anti-depresssant that should be an issue as well.

That's a serious question(s) for you lurkers out there!

In what world? Entire Latin America is full of communists and socialists, where Che Guevarra, Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, etc. were born and risen to power. Nearly every country is lorded over by leftists.

Cristina is not even the first female President in the History of South America.
About driving the country into the ground : it was below the ground even before she was born.And long after.I was in Buenos Aires in 2000 and anyone can tell you it was not pretty.
Also,the first election she won her nearest rival was another lady.

That's only like two or three countries though. Cuba, Venezuela, maybe Bolivia, and Nicaragua the rest are really not all that socialist like you think. The fact that people know names like Hugo Chavez, and Castro speaks volumes, because really those are the only socialist leaders in Latin America and then Americans paint every country in LA with the same communist/socialist brush. Many countries in Latin America are still quite conservative and very right leaning even though there are many left leaning presidents.

Take Mexico for example, our neighbor. Mexico is an example of an American conservative utopia. Mexico has little to no social programs whatsoever, they rely heavily on the free market, and monopolize all big corporations (one or 2 major banks, one major gas company, one major telephone company, etc...) Some are state owned but the majority of corporations rule in Mexico, the environment allowed Carlos Slim to become the world's richest man in the world, which is quite sad honestly, especially coming from a developing country like Mexico.

Contrast that to the U.S. where you have a huge welfare program, social security, Obamacare, Medicaid, Medicare, financial aid grants, TANF, SCHIP, free lunch at school, etc... If the Mexican government for one minute tries to implement social programs, guys like Carlos Slim will call socialism and throw fits.

Mexico doesn't have none of this, if you are poor and sick, you basically die, if you are poor and hungry tough luck, you're on your own. Children in school have to buy their own lunch. They really take the meaning of "pick yourself up by your own boot straps" like American conservatives love to say literal.

The USA is way more liberal than many countries in LA.

This is the very definition of socialist state. This is the very mechanism that allowed one man be become so rich at expense of others. That is not capitalism.

They don't have social programs? Just because they don't have the same kind of programs does not make them not socialist. They have a lot of subsidies, for example.
USSR also did not have welfare system. It was also illegal to be unemployed. Does that make USSR not socialist?

All valid points regarding US though. We've been electing progressives since Wilson. Damn, that's over a hundred years...

Brazil has the same behind the scenes rulers as the US. The choice in candidates, as in the US, by no means reflects the will of the people.
