As I mentioned in a previous post I spent two years in the DR but left about six months ago.

I work online and make about 3k a month and I'm not really interested in returning to the states where I'm from.

I'm interested in going somewhere to live essentially permanently, or at least somewhere to have as a permanent base.

I'm interested in hearing from anyone that has spent extensive time in both the DR and Phillipines in terms of how they compare on cost of living, women, lifestyle, etc...

I'm 40 and at this point not looking to sleep with a ton of women. I'm more interested in going somewhere where I can live comfortably near the beach, develop a small circle of friends, play some live music and find a good woman for a long term relationship and maybe even kids.

I've read quite a few of the Phillipines threads but didn't see anything comparing these two countries specifically.

Any insight is appreciated.

How about Japan? Find a traditional minded Japanese woman. The country itself is one of the most peaceful in the world, has some of the best food, and despite globalization, still stands out significantly when it comes to other countries.

3K a month is not bad, I just looked up 2009 stats and although Tokyo is famously expensive, Japan supposedly ranked behind USA, Canada, and Australia which were about median in come 30K per year

You can live in Japan (best outside Tokyo) on 3k/month. For a guy in his 40s who wants to settle down, it's not a bad option as there are many women in their 30s in great shape. But let's be real, arriving in Japan for the first time, in your 40s, with no language skills and a modest bankroll, you would probably end up with a girl who has major problems fitting into mainstream society, an ex-carousel foreigner lover or a naive country girl with baby rabies. Of course you might be cool with that.

I can't speak about the DR as I've yet to go there but I've been twice to the Philippines. Filipina women in general are some of the sweetest you'll find anywhere in the world. They're very caring, nurturing and take very good care of their man. They love kids and make great gfs and wives.

You should definitely go there and check it out in person. Don't settle for the first nice and sweet girl that will fall on your lap, as they will be falling on your lap. Take your time! If you want a great girl, one with whom you can build a real and meaningful relationship with, I'd suggest you stick to the educated middle class girls in MNL so you have a girl with whom you can have good conversations with as well. A girl with a decent job. A girl who will not look at you as a meal ticket out of her misery as is the case with most simple girls in the provinces but also in MNL. A girl who will be fun and an asset to you, not a drain or someone holding you back! So stick with the educated middle to upper class who have a decent job. If you have a budget of about 3k/month, then you can live very comfortably in the best part of MNL, in the Fort. Thanks so much for your reply. It sounds very intriguing. The other thing is that I play guitar and write songs (studied at Berklee) so somewhere that I can play music is important to me as well. I actually got quite a few gigs in the DR and was making an extra 600 to 700 dollars a month on top of my internet income . I've researched online and it looks like there are actually quite a few recording studios in Manila and somewhat of a music scene. Any insight into that? I'm not looking for NYC or Nashville level scenes, but would be great to play gigs and continue to record music wherever I'm living.

As far as when I'm not sure. I'm in Mexico exploring right now but starting to plan more long term and weigh my different options.

You can start Japanese lessons now. Japanese isn't really difficult to pronounce and speak. The biggest problems will come when you make your attempts to remember the kanji and to write the characters properly.

Tokyo is expensive and I wouldn't recommend living there. But there are other cool places like Osaka and Kyoto. Try one of those areas. Avoid the Gaijjin hunter women by the way.

I have been a songwriter for a long time, played in NY, SF, and am not great but know who is.

I know I saw filipino lounge musicians in the Hawaii hotels where I worked my way through grad school, they were really good.

On my last trip to Philippines I also saw very small time little lounge groups that were really good, especially nice, sweet singing of standard-type songs, out of the three groups I saw, all were pretty good.

Filipinos are in-the-moment people, and love music.
Wages are also tragically low, if you write you could probably hire a band to play your stuff for very, very cheap if you had to. They really are among the least snobbish people I've seen.

I work in a hospital for serious criminals and most of the nurses there are FIlipinas and they are really nice to these guys, a lot of whom have done horrible things. They are really kind, except in Manila the desperate guys on whatever cheap speed they have who robbed all the office women on the Jeepney including my female friend one day.

One problem you should be aware of is the Philippines is so poor, outside of the tourist areas of Manila I don't think I saw a single cop in over two weeks there.

That link shows a list of middle aged men who got murdered, it actually seems Manila is safer. A good portion were probably arrogant drunks who brought it on themselves,s but not all--In the boonies you attract attention because you're assumed wealthy, and if they shoot you out there no one will find out for weeks. It looks like about 1/5 or so of the murders are in Manila, which probably means a low rate, as many more foreigners are probably in Mnaila than anywhere else. I don't think its an extremely dangerous place, but it certainly is nothing like Japan

The combination of Filipina women's' low snobbiness, love of children, being affectionate, musical and funny, makes Philippines a really magic place-- but the pollution is really bad. I'm either buying or bringing a HEPA air filter for my apartment.

I've spent a bit of time in both places and I don't think either are the best places for long term relationships. There are better SEA countries than the Philippines for relationships. DR, has such a hookup culture. Girls there are so sexual. These are both countries for making your dick happy with a lot of sex with different women, but it will be harder to find a beautiful loyal girl, with good values and a great personality in these places.

The problem with these two countries imo opinion are that it's much harder to find beautiful girls. DR is full of amazing bodies, but faces aren't that great on average. Then, you can have serious trouble finding a girl that is legitimately loyal. As the guy who wrote the book The Key Logger, I can tell you that almost every country I have been too has more loyal girls than DR.

Philippines is full of short and skinny 6's and 7's. Girls here don't have great personalities compared to most places. They are simple, but you can find a lot of innocent girls if you do day game or go to Mindanao. Also, the loyalty of Philippine girls isn't what you would expect. They will be loyal to you because of how much they like you, but it's not really a huge part of their culture.

You can find good girls for serious relationships in almost any country, but neither of these countries are ideal for it. For a SEA option I would prefer relationships with Vietnamese girls or traditional Thai girls(i have never been taken care of more in my life than dating a traditional Thai girl). For Latin girls strangely enough I found Nicaraguan girls to be the most naturally loyal. Mexican girls can also make for great girlfriends and I love some Mexican girls personalities. Colombia has the beautiful faces, but while they aren't as unloyal as DR, there is a lot of cheating going on in that country. I would still recommend any of these 3 latin american countries over DR for finding a relationship. But I would always recommend DR for finding sexual girls for easy (and great) sex.

Interesting you say that about Nicaragua. I dated a girl from Granada for several years. Most loyal girlfriend I've ever had, almost to a fault. Very good people.

Guys shouldn't really be surprised that the two countries which are consistently the subject of RVF bang reports where guys sport fuck multiple women, sometimes a few in one day, don't have the most loyal women. Japan is a solid country for finding a wife with good domestic ability. That said, the best of the women usually live out in the countryside with their family and have zero English.

3k a month is livable for a single guy but you aren't going to be raising a family on that. I'd be shooting for 5/6k a month MINIMUM before even considering marriage in Japan. Shit is just too expensive here and traditional women expect traditional domestic roles. You are the breadwinner so you are expected to sort out that side of things without her input.

As great a place as Japan is, given the inherent cultural, financial and linguistic barriers to entry, a single western guy seeking a serious LTR would probably be better off going elsewhere in Asia.

From my ~4 months Phils experience(in one of more conservative cities, girls are just as slutty as in the west if not more) They just have to lie more because of betas that can't deal with the truth.

I've actually met balding mid 30s ugly guy who tried to convince me that his young 7.5 Filipina (like 9 in the west) was with only 2 guys before him And ofc. she doesn't care about money, he just tricked *ehm sry* charmed *ehm* her to falling in love with him. Poor guy, Poor guy.

The proof is in the pudding - in this case the Durex suvey about infidelity - all Asian countries have high numbers of infidelity and lots of sexual partners.

I really believe that if you want an Asian wife, you should go for a first generation educated woman, of which there are millions in China and to a lesser degree Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.

The reason is that a girl who grew up poor will likely have grown up in a strong patriarchal and traditional society, while her being able to finish an education proves she is intelligent and strong-willed. She will understand the need for material security and be willing to compromise a lot for it and marrying a foreigner with some wealth and worldliness is probably the best chance she has for her children growing up to have better opportunities. The educated part is important - and no kids - because it proves she was able to keep her legs closed to not get impregnated by the local alpha village boy with his scooter, as happens with so many thai girls.

Add that to the fact that some overworked/overstudied chinese girls of 26 years old is already considered an old maid, but will look great well into her 30s and sometimes even 40s, and I think that's a good case for a guy in his 40s.

I could be a bit too optimistic here as I won't rule out the above to be my own plan in my late 30s. Let me know if I'm off the mark entirely here.

I spent about 3 months in DR and Currently I'm in Phils.

In all countries I think one of the keys to finding "good" girls that haven't been on the carousel too much is getting away from online game.

I'm seeing a girl here that "loves" me and she showed me her online dating account. Out of curiosity I looked at what these guys were writing.

It's all the same unimaginative beta horseshit you would expect. It's truly pathetic.

This girl is very hot and works in a casino. I asked her why she's online and she says she wants a boyfriend.

The problem with this strategy is that she's attracted to white men.

White men don't stay long here.

So what inadvertently happens is these girls fall in love, and when the guy goes after a time, they are back trying to chase that feeling they had with whatever guy they wanted the most and they indirectly hop on the carousel.

If you get a girl in the Phils and you're her first foreigner, you're going to have a good girl that's pretty damn loyal.

Disagree completely about girls being only 6's and 7's here as I'm seeing some smoke shows and even the few times I've been out in clubs I've seen some real stunners.

Online 6's and 7's at best is more likely.

As VP said, you really should take a trip out here and see for yourself. Everyone has a different experience.

What's great about Phils is it's common for women to be proficient in English whereas, unless you're dating an upper class Dominican girl or a call center girl (very likely to also be a foreigner chaser) then you need to have great Spanish.

Regarding DR

Again, Online girls are searching for foreigners to pay for their shit. I actually had a lot of fun dangling carrots in front of some of them.

Girls there will be bold and demand money for salons and their bills. They will flat out say, "I want a boyfriend because I have bills".

It's unreal that they don't consider themselves whores.

In Santiago I found girls to have better facial features and the people to be much nicer in person. I dated a girl from there that went to medical school but was also in several rap videos (crazy body).

I think that would be a great place to settle down for a bit as Santo Domingo is too goddamn dirty and sleazy.

I would personally rather go to Vietnam if I was planning to settle down with a good girl who's also smart, has c cup tits, a great ass, and a virgin.
