I do sometimes. I didn't realize how much until a recent gf pointed it out to me.

I guess I jut have to work out my thoughts verbally sometimes, especially if I'm frustrated. Sometimes I'll have a thought but then I'll repeat the thought outloud, as if hearing myself say it will cement the thought or make it more real or something.

I do spend a lot of time alone or with people who speak minimal English, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Or maybe I'm just batshit crazy. haha

I warm up my voice for morning meetings. Nothing worse than getting a curvball in the morning and your voice is crap to handle it.

I used to talk to myself when I was 5-10 y.o. I believed to have an imaginary friend!

I talk to myself all the time. It helps me focus on a particular argument or point of view. I look at it like a rehearsal.

Of course. The bad part is when I'm deep in a conversation with myself and a random chick comes around the corner and catches me. I used it to approach once: "You just caught me talking to myself. Don't act like you don't do the same thing." It hooked.

I remember creating this same thread on another forum 10 years ago and I haven't changed anything.

I talk to myself all the time. I don't even care if people notice that I am talking to myself, I love doing it, I am my own best friend and I enjoy talking to me. I was just talking to myself in the gym today, I always do it.

Yep, and I get caught constantly. I like to think my "pretend I was singing along to a song from my iPod" strategy is effective, but sometimes I'm not even wearing one. Double crazy points.

yeah I talk to myself a lot actually. Usually walk around town mumbling "Oh, they'll pay...they'll ALL pay....bwahhhaahhhhaaa"

Seriously I do talk to myself from time to time, mostly when I get pissed off at myself for doing something stupid (which happens a lot these days). I grew up in a single parent household and had to do a lot of discipling myself by myself!

Constantly.
I hash through future conversations out loud, like speech prep but for daily life.
Run through potential situations that may come up, etc.

I do it all the time without thinking.
Going to the gym? I'm already planning responses to practically any situation.
Makes me seem really good at off the cuff commentary, but really, I've just rehearsed like 90% of my daily spontaneous interactions a million times, absent mindedly.


I'll also talk my way through dilemmas to myself.

Just how I'm wired. It's the only way I can keep focused.

I talk to my self all the time. I'm the most sensible person I know.

Even if you see the shrink and tell him/her you talk to yourself, they ain't bothered.

In fact, it is pretty beneficial.

Imagine in the space shuttle:

I am now about to insert the main seal to the outer door.
Must not fuck up.
Chicken soup for later.
As long as I don't get blown in to space.
That would be bad.

It's a feature of creative minds.

Don't do it when you go to the shop, obviously. When you just want a loaf of bread.

In shop:
Must get loaf of bread.
Do NOT want BANANANANANAS.
Resist temptation to buy Cheddar Cheese!
Just WANT bread.

They must have moved it.
