23-Year Old American Faked Death to Avoid Marrying British Chick
[Image: swns_faked_death_02.jpg?w=839]

Quote:A Connecticut man took fear of commitment to new heights — when he faked his death to avoid getting married, his angry former fiancée claims.

Posing as his father, Tucker Blandford, 23, of Stamford called his soon-to-be-bride, Alex Lanchester, 23, of West Midlands, England to break the news of his “suicide” — just months before their Aug. 15 wedding date, Lanchester told the UK Metro.

“Alex, this is Tucker’s dad. There’s no easy way to say this … I am sorry to say that Tucker is dead,” Blandford said, according to Lanchester.

“He had been suffering from depression. He threw himself in front of a car, ” Blandford said, disguising his voice.

Heartbroken, Lanchester called his mom to offer condolences — only to learn it was all an elaborate lie.

“It hit me. That voice on the other end of the phone had sounded eerily familiar,” she said.

She added, “I realized it was Tucker pretending to be his dad. My whole world crumbled.”

Blandford later copped to his bizarre escape plan via text, saying he got cold feet, she said.

“He’s such a coward . . . After this I’m not sure I can trust a man ever again,” fumed Lanchester, who spent hundreds of dollars on wedding invitations.

The couple met at the University of Connecticut while she was studying abroad on a student visa. They had been together for roughly two years, Lanchester said.

Blandford wooed her with fine dining and gifts, and even introduced her to his parents, she said.

“He was such a gentleman. He showered me with jewelry,” Lanchester said.

When her student visa expired last year, Blandford proposed, she said, adding that he got down on one knee at the airport as the lovebirds said a tearful goodbye.

“I said ‘yes’ straightaway . . . I was super happy and smiling like an idiot,” Lanchester said.

He promised to visit her in England so they could start planning the wedding. He canceled the trip — but set a date for their wedding to appease her, Lanchester said.

She booked venues, shopped for a wedding gown and spent more than $1,000 on invitations.

Lanchester had already booked a flight to the United States for the wedding, so she came anyway.

“It may be our wedding day, but I’m going to spend it making my own awesome memories — without him,” she said.

Blandford couldn’t be reached for comment on Tuesday.

Well yeah he's a fucking pussy for not saying he had buyers remorse and wanted to call off the marriage.

Oh of course he's a gent because he showers you in jewerly...fuck off.

Jesus christ, she was going home to ride the cock carousel.

Kaotic

Quote:Oh of course he's a gent because he showers you in jewerly...fuck off.

That is what is so vomit-inducing about modern women.

As I've said, I'm not above material items. I like to wear nice clothes, drive a decent car, enjoy the nightlife, etcetera. But this excessive 'keeping up with the joneses' and 'what will you buy me' mentality amongst so many women is unacceptable (the first part applies to many men too). They let it define them in their entirety, but don't judge them on it of course, then you're a misogynist.

If there is one thing that really pisses me off, it's when women say or imply that I'm cheap. One girl I went out with not too long ago, it got back to me that she was annoyed I took her to a bar for a drink on our first date. The bar was a decent bar, and she had literally suggested the most expensive places in town. I should've said "after we fuck, until then…".

In all seriousness, I've had a few women suggest that I'm cheap. It's the same shit they pull with "Oh, just because she's not a skinny waif like you normally date.." when you won't date their fat friend. Just because I don't take women to the Four Seasons and shower them with jewelry on every date it doesn't make me cheap. I like nice places, but I don't put pussy on a pedestal, and I like that I have money in a savings account and towards retirement.

Anyway, end of rant. WNB.

where do you live CRR? in 2014 - the 'era of the end of dating' - I feel like I'm almost doing a girl a favor taking her on a formal first date for drinks.

I live in SoCal, but I travel quite a bit for work.

Funny you say that, I guess due to my age (late 30s), I use the term 'date' in a different way than many. Friends/coworkers, the younger ones, make fun of some of my terminology as old fashioned.

Anyway, when I meet a girl I always do the "let's meet at [place] at [time] for a drink". I always time it later in the evening for a better chance of a positive response from the inevitable "let's go back to my place", plus that's cooler. For the record, if after two 'dates' (or whatever you want to call them) she doesn't come back to my place, her number is deleted.

I use the term 'dating' to describe a girl that I'm consistently banging AND go out in public with.

Her face is ten years older than her age. How does that even happen?

If that's her pre-wall, then... brrrrr.

Good for him for not going through with it but pretending he was dead to get out of it, sounds quite cowardly. Why could he not just man up and tell her it was over?

Why couldn't he just say "sorry, I changed my mind"? Not to get into moral considerations here, but it would just be more hassle-free. Betas these days...

Not to give this chick any ideas but I wonder if there is a claim there. He makes a promise, she reasonably relies on that promise and spends money to her detriment as he then breaks the promise. . .

I don't believe anyone is contractually obligated to follow through on marriage. It's just like how in most states women can keep an engagement ring with no reprecussions unless there is a conditional gift law.
