I recommend at least checking out Kao San Road once to see if you like it, you can go early, around 8 or 9 and stay until midnight or whatever, if you don't like it there then leave to another party spot. Get on the shisha and the buckets at an outside table, be outgoing, sociable and energetic and you shouldn't have a problem meeting skanky back packer chicks or even "normal" Thai girls there. I went there a few times, had a blast the first couple of times but got tired of it eventually, I think everyone should go there at least once.

Check it out but I wouldn't stay there. Why not stay in the Sukhumvit area anywhere from around Soi 25 to Ekkamai? Do you really want to meet skanky backpacker chicks? Yes, there are some normal Thai girls to be found on Khaosan but...why not go to some clubs on RCA Blvd or Ekkamai or somewhere else? Khaosan IMO is only good in small doses. Maybe because I'm a local...but I don't like the whole scene there for more than a couple of hours. Plenty more to do in Bangkok.

RE: Bangkok Data Sheet
I saw someone mentioned Funky Villa and MUSE at Thong Lor area already. It's pretty popular for young Bangkokians. Another place that is also popular is called "Nung Len" (which translates as 'sitting down and chilling out') located at the Ekamai area http://www.nunglen.net/. I have never been to these places myself, but I do know from amongst my friends that it is a popular hangout spot. The website for Nunglen also features a gallery where you can see the samples of the talent available there.

My friend went to Narcissus (Sukhumvit 23) last Friday, which is a club that he has frequented from time to time throughout the years. I'm quoting him here, he said that it has changed a lot, wasn't as crowded as it used to be and that it was mostly foreigners there.

I ended up staying in the Sukhumvit area and went clubbing in the RCA area at a place called Route 66 which is really good. Mainly local college girls but you get some international students, expats and people doing internships and what not. Pulled a Norwegian bird towards the end of the night within a couple of hours of leaving for the airport. I'd recommend hitting up Route 66 over the weekend for any travelers, instead of going to KaoSan.

Don't know about Funky Villa but Muse is alright. I didn't go to Thonglo often while I was there but when I did I usually went early and ate at the restaurant on the roof at Muse and had a few(often free, as they were always giving away their new cocktails) drinks before going down to the club area. It is expensive though, which is why I usually avoid Thonglo unless I'm going with a group of Thais.

In my experience my older, working Thai friends always wanted to go to Thonglo and my friends from uni always wanted to go to Route.

Also, I've found Thammasat University girls make up a disproportionally high percentage of Thai Friendly accounts for their age group. And several of my girls from there said that there are no guys/too many gays around campus. Anyone wanna grab some uniforms and troll around the Rangsit campus next January?tard I've only actually been out there once and there was 0 competition and some pretty good talent, but that's a sample size of 1 and I plan on checking it out again next trip and will post results.

RE: Bangkok Data Sheet
There's nightlife out by the Rangsit campus. I forget the name of the main club, but shouldn't be too hard to find. Lots of girls. No easier than other Thai nightlife spots though in my experience.

For those asking about Khao San area, I've posted before about the Thai clubs and bars around there (khao San and rambutri). Molly has the best quality and would be my pick, but Bangkok Bar, Brick Bar, and Oh Bar (not on rambutri but nearby), all have plenty of Thai university age girls, and pretty much no backpackers / foreigners (Brick Bar has lots of Thammasat and Chulalongkorn girls, if you can put up with the Thai Ska bands).

Bars such as บัวสะอาด (only has Thai sign, but is pronounced bua sa-aat if you need to ask somebody) are also popular with young Thai girls (opposite Molly, same owner). Then there's a few bars up on Phra Athit road that are full of Thammasat girls on weekends (money lampoo, another บัวสะอาด, and another place that I forget the name of).

There's another place on Rambutri called deep that gets packed full of Thai students, but a little younger than the other places. Gets too busy though, and the rock bands aren't my cup of tea so I never go there.

I haven't been in BKK for about 18 months now, but judging by the photos that come up on my news feed from girls, things haven't changed, and this info is still relevant.

Compared to Thonglor and RCA, Thonglor probably has the edge on quality, and RCA on sheer volume, but Khao San area is a good alternative (especially Molly and to a lesser extent บัวสะอาด - both are pretty popular with Thais and I have seen actresses and other celebrities at both).

I'll be in Bangkok solo for 2 weeks.

I've booked my first 3 nights at City Lodge right next to Nana station. Anyone have experience with this place? I figure I'll play it by ear from there, maybe stay in Thong Lo for a bit

RE: Bangkok Data Sheet
You mean at City Lodge or the Nana area in general? I think the Nana area is more well known for prostitution. I don't have personal experience, but I've heard that the Grace Hotel for example is also a place for that. I see a lot of bar girls in that area who look more like they are working there. The Nana area is also an area that is well known for finding foreign prostitutes too. I've read on several Thai web boards where guys review their visits to the Rajah (ราชา in Thai) hotel, which is the place to find Russian or from the former Soviet Union prostitutes. If you want to pick up girls, I would suggest another area instead.

Thanks dad.

Glad I only booked 3 nights then. I think I'll go 1km down the road closer to Thong Lo for the rest of the time. Not really interested in the bar girl scene.

RE: Bangkok Data Sheet
I was travelling Thailand and have been in Bangkok at the beginning of my travelling as well as at the end. Both times have been fantastic. here is what i have done:

I went to the area Soi 11 at Sukhumvit. There is a club called Levels and a bar below (forgot the name). On Thursdays there is flatrate cocktail drinking for 500 baht (15 Dollars). I got some buzz there. Plenty of hot expat/student chicks. hardly any thais. thai bitches were only pros that were there with old european men. But good place to meet local expats that can give further tips. One of them told me to go to Climax (2 min walk from the bar). It is in a parking house and once in, mostly thai girls (probably 30-50% pros). They are usually out for old rich men. However, walking in there, everyone looks at you (if you are blonde at least). Gives huge confidence boost. I had some drinks, went to the toilet. when i came out there was a girl already waiting. thank god a non-pro. she said she saw me, thinks i am cute. i danced 5 minutes, kissed 5 minutes and went back to my hotel with her after only 10 minutes. she was super horny and when i came from the bathroom, i could already see her fingering herself on my bed. thai girls are super horny. i could have easily gotten couple of more of them in that club. i fcuked her, went back to the club with her and flirted with other girls. however went on to another club ... back to Levels not the bar this time but the club. more expats there but super horny thai girls as well. After 15 minutes, i talked to 5 girls. 3 pros and 2 non-pros. took one back to hotel. after this, i was too tired and just stayed all night with her.

Can only recommend Levels and climax. it is too easy. almost no fun as you don't need any gaming.

What's the general range of dates that tourist chicks (Russians, Israelis, Scandis, etc) will be on the islands of Thailand?

Clearly Dec and Jan will be poppin but what about late march-mid April?

Great that you enjoyed your stay in BKK. However to clarify a bit: Climax is a total P4P place with 90% Isaan pros, semi pros, some farang groupies. The only place with an even worse reputation once was the infamous Nana Disco soi4 . No classy thai girl would ever step a foot in these places. While couple years ago, quality in P4P scene in Sukhumvit was still great, shoring stunning pros as a local quite easy, nowadays most girls are just 5s and 6s. Basically the whole scene in sukhumvit is dead now.The best looking girls are already exported or sponsored. To find quality you would have to leave the Farang ghetto between Nana and Asoke and check out the thai places with regular girls. When I was living in BKK I did both scenes: I lived in Suk11 which is really convenient, did day game in shopping centers, skytrain etc., nightout at RCA, Ratachada soi4, Narcissus, Thonglor, Khao San, Silom soi4, Twilo/Funky Dojo Patpong to score normal girls - But at that time it was also fun to hang around in the farang pick up places like Gulliver, Countryroad soi 19, as well as the Gogos in NEP and Soi Cowboy. As we were always the same group of young foreigners, after a while almost all girls knew us and were happy to meet after work with no money involved.
Bangkok in 2004-08 was the best place on the planet and I had the greatest time in my life. Sadly that those times are long over.

usually depends, check when there school/uni holidays are. Dec-Jan will be busiest, April is close to the monsoon, so lower amounts usually.

Take her to any one of the rooftop bars as the vibe should be decent in the day. Not sure how useful it would be to list popular night time bars as they may be quite dead around noon. If you're on a budget, do a quick Google of drink costs as some can be pricey.

I'd defo be avoiding bars in Nana though, lots open but sleazy vibe, same for Asoke. There's also a few little spots to drink at the Emquartier mall, I think it's on the 2nd level but can't be too sure as it's been a while.

Thanks for the feedback Afarang! We were talking about getting lunch where she wants to try my country food so I'm taking her to 'The Australian.' Good places to have a drink as well and it opens at 9am but I want to take her to one more bar preferable in doors with a/c and dark so I can make a move (a bar where I can sit next to her)! I've been checking times of bars and clubs opening early apart from Nana (no luck so far).

What are some good rooftop bars? I might check them out for future dates...

Any suggestions on drink specials for future night dates? Apart from Khao San Road (to many westerner backpackers) where i found Insanity has 99 baht to 1am but it's watered down.

I'm going to have to suss out 'Emquartier mall' another time for logistics, the place looks huge!

I am going back home for a few weeks in mid August to go to a wedding (yay), but also selling some of my possessions as well as obtaining a new passport etc. I was curious now about the Multi Entry Tourist Visa. I have all the money to show the government I'm not poor. I have everything I need except a letter from an employer. I am working for myself a bit online but it is not yet serious enough that I could incorporate or make it legit enough to use as a letter of my employment. Does anybody know a hack for this or a way around it? Could I get a friend to bullshit for me or do they actually check?

Also while I am gone I have my condo available. Looking for someone to rent it preferably for a month though 2-3 week long term guys would be ok too. High rep guys only please. PM me if interested.

Are you sure you need a letter of employment to get an METV at a Canadian consulate (good idea to avoid the embassy in Ottawa)? I don't have personal experience with applying for one, but quite a few reports of guys from G7 countries not having to go through all the hoops to get one. Call the consulate closest to where you will be staying to see what you need and if they require a letter of employment try one of the honourary consulates in Canada to see if their requirements are the same.

Maybe it depends on the consulate, but the one I got my visa from asked for a letter of employment.

I actually went applied for my METV today.

Fact of the matter, for different people, in different countries, there are varying requirements. In Sydney I needed

Passport
Passport Copy
Copy of Utility Bill
Departure Ticket
Second Entry into Bangkok
$225 AUD in Cash.

People in other countries might need to show evidence of funds, job etc.

Wow. Hopefully it's the same for Canada. At least I will be applying with a fresh passport so it won't look like I have been there lots. Not that I have a shit load of stamps but there are definitely a lot from the last 4 years compared to a normal person going on vacation there.
