So this Thursday I'm heading off to Jordan.

I fly into the capital Amman and I think I will use that as my base and explore neaby Syria, Beruit and Israel.

Might skip Israel if they insist on putting a stamp in my passport I know there are a number of countries that won't let you in if you have an Israel stamp in your passport.

Anyway, will discuss the other countries on separate threads.

Sticking to Jordan, has anybody ever been? Any tips?

Thanks but Jordan is a major transport hub for the middle east so I would not really say it was un-charted.

Kind of odd as a transport hub bearing in mind it's sandwiched between Iraq and Israel but apparenly it's very safe or so I have been told.

It's going to be my first time in the middle east anyway so new territory for me. The closest I have ever been before is to Egypt.

Dammit Lumiere, I wanted to be first to drop a data sheet on Amman. I was planning on a recon trip in the next month or so. If not I'll being staying there for a month later this year, and like you, use it as a base of operations to check out Israel, Asmara, and possibly Beirut. You can have Syria. LOL. Anyway, your data will be greatly appreciated from me. And try to keep an eye out for apartments close to the action. Stay safe.

careful, i read on lonely planet that even if they don't stamp your passport in Israel, that other countries will know from your entry/exit points in neighboring countries.

It's like if you see a stamp that said Calais France, it would be obvious that you went to the UK, because that is the whole reason for the existence of the town. Says that the only way to avoid is by flying in, or going to Israel last and hoping that you won't go to the Middle East again before your passport expires, (so you will get a new passport).

You like a challenge don't you... Jordan is relatively liberal.
The only OK resources I could find are: Dating in Jordan & Sex in Amman .

Have you pipelined with any success?

I've heard the same thing, save your trip to Israel for last otherwise you'll be turned away from the muslim dominated countries.

Started piplining only yesterday. Not had any responses back so far but give it time.

P.S. The night of my arrival is st.patricks night and I already found a couple of Irish pubs in Amman so that's where I will be ;-)

So I was just browsing around for some work related Google searches and come across for ladies from Jordan - Wow! Pretty, hot & fashionable.

No hijabs etc.

Has it changed and opened up for party time? Or am I just seeing their profiles online.

That'll be hard question to answer, Lumiere hasn't been on since a year ago and not many RVFers go to jordan. It's a stable country despite all the "arab springs" so nothing would've changed. Jordan's king, Abdullah dislikes conservatism so no hijabs for them.

Might be in Jordan come December. Unlikely at the moment, but I might have a couple days free to get in and explore.

I went to Jordan in 2011. Amman is most definitely a black hole for game. Absolute cockblock. It's technically illegal to "date."

Bars are in shady alleyways with tinted windows and all men inside.

There's this street called Rainbow Street with bookstores, hookah cafes and coffee shops. It's a relatively decent area to post up in if you find yourself in Amman but you won't get anywhere trying to game.

The main thing to see in Jordan is Petra which is amazing. Indiana Jones was filmed there. I spent the whole day riding around on a mule checking out mindblowing rock formations. The bedouins that live there are pretty chill and will show you around for cheap.

Israel is next door and you can travel between both countries over land. They are both small and easy to get around. For Arab chicks in the region, Lebanon is your best bet. Beirut is pretty secular and the girls are nice.
